One of the best Museums I've ever been in for most respects. Excellent taxidermy displays, good Egypt exhibit, fantastic Maori exhibit tucked away at the end of the Pacific Islands gallery. I did not get the chance to see the extra-cost specials or exhibits due to time constraints on my visit.

Like most North-American museums it's fantastically expensive, though. A general admission runs about $20.00 USD and four hours parking at Soldier Field is much the same price. Overall it doesn't feel as accessible as it should be.

The field museum houses a very expansive collection of animals. Definitely worth the price and if you ve never been before the basic is just fine.
You ll have plenty to see and won t miss the extras the more expensive plans add. Save that for your next visit.

Great stuff here, but it's incredibly difficult to see everything and because of the layout, you have to do some backtracking. You need at least 5 to 6 hours to get thru...maybe more if you buy a movie. We spent 5 hours there and bought a movie but didn't even get to watch it nor did we get to finish going thru the exhibits!

I really wish we had more time here! There is a staggering amount to see. If I was going to return I would plan on spending a full day or even two here. To add to the attraction of the museum the building is beautiful, a testament to what can be done when planners value architectural asthetics.

The tours are very well designed, the most complete T-rex that has been found is spectacular, besides that there is jade section, plants and other variety of exhibitions, very enjoyable.

I could spend days at the Field Museum. There are so many interesting exhibits and they're constantly switching in new ones. You couldn't ask for more from a museum experience, and visiting supports the significant research and conservation work they perform.

We had a blast! Kids play lab is a must see. Also the new Sue addition was awesome! Even for being crowded for Spring Break we still had so much fun and didn't really have to wait long to see anything.

Great place to take kids and adults. Wide variety of exhibits.

Took a star away for the lack of adequate air conditioning. Was there on an (admittedly) very hot weekend. My mother in law couldn't handle how hot it was inside.

Solid natural and human history museum. The collection is massive, the exhibits very varied, and the features pretty well put together. Tons of fun for the whole family, as long as that family likes to learn.

Huge building with plenty of exhibits to walk around in. Seeing Sue for the first time was amazing, especially after reading about her when I was a kid. Great place to go by yourself or the whole family.

I'm briefly visiting Chicago from Florida after my mom's death. I wished to take the train to the Loop and visit the Field Museum But, I noticed the Museum was Closed M, T, and W! Seriously?! Why! What a disappointment! If it's due to CV, then allow fewer visitors! What museum is closed so many days!!!! The Shed Aquarium and the Art Institute are both open! I don't see why the Field Museum is not open! Not everyone wants to come on a weekend or other potential busy days!

The native American exhibit was extensive, informative, and very well written. I felt there was a drop in the writing quality of the Egyptian exhibit though (perhaps it was aimed more towards younger audiences). You do need to pay extra to access the newer galleries like the Chinese one. There's underground parking nearby that you can pay for. Overall, it was time well spent.

The Field Museum of Natural History is one of the most important attractions in Chicago. A museum for large and Chicoa where there are always new things to surprise, not only thanks to the permanent incorporation of new exhibitions but excellent exoosiciones of all time. An inevitable place to visit in Chicago.

Do I really need to see stuffed animals that I can see in almost any zoo? Sure, there are some moderately interesting info-placards next to 'em, but I can see those at the zoo (or on the Web), too.

The Polynesian exhibit was moderately interesting. The separately-priced bugs-life (soil) exhibit was hokey and not very engaging. And what's with having to pay separately for the underground exhibit, for the King Tut thing, and so on?

I'm not sure what annoys me more. A sub-par experience at this museum overall, or the fact that we, as a country, value civic education and experiences so little that we starve our libraries and museums and instead send our tax money to piss off people overseas.

But I digress.

HINT: Go see the next door Shedd Aquarium instead. Friendly and more helpful guides. Amazing live animals. And just $8 to see the entire first floor.

Easily the best museum I've ever been to. When I went in July of 2019, the Field Museum had an amazing exhibit about ancient Chinese history, which has always been one of my favorite subjects. I'd even give that specific exhibit (which I think was only temporary) 5 stars. My family and I saw almost every exhibit in the museum that day. They also had a phenomenal exhibit about Pacific Islanders and the Indigenous Peoples of North America. And it goes without saying, but if you go to this museum, you *HAVE* to see Sue the T-Rex skeleton. If I kept listing everything I saw and liked, I'd be writing this review for about as long as I was there that day (7-ish hours, no joke), so I'll wrap this up. Ever since that day, it's been a dream of mine to eventually work at the Field Museum creating exhibits. Go to this museum.

This is a fantastic place. Make sure you plan to spend several hours here though. Several exhibits and so much to do. My family spent 3 and a half hours here and still needed more time. From the Mummies to Sue, there are things to see from around the world and throughout the ages.

For a first time visitor, I was overwhelmed by the vast collection and every corner took me by interest. The opening times were not long enough to be able to see and appreciate all it has to offer. I visited on a weekday, late January and I have to say it was not busy at all. I had access to all exhibits and a 4d movie about dinosaurs and they did not diaappoint. Museum was kept to a wonderful standard and overall I had an enjoyable experience, wanting to be able to see everything with unfortunately little time.

This museum is HUGE and had so many amazing things to see. Our kids enjoyed most of the areas and we went back for a 2nd day since there is no way to see everything in one. The admittance people were very helpful and helped us get the best price for our family and included a 3D movie of our choice. This was the family's favorite museum out of all the ones we visited. This is definitely a must do in Chicago!
