Awesome museum and large. So take your time and have fun at all the different exhibits. Some exhibits may require additional money so be prepared. It comes with a free movie which we did not have the time to watch sadly. The museum closes early at 5pm so head there early if you want to see everything!

It's a good sized museum adjacent to the Shedd Aquarium. You can spend a lot of time here and they rotate out their exhibits occasionally. Some of the exhibits require an extra entrance purchase in addition to your general admission. Be on the lookout for days that they offer free admission.

The museum was good, but the exhibits inside were pretty hit or miss. The entrance hall is majestic and beautiful, but the way it's organized is lacking and the museum feels a bit mismanaged. It's hard to make your way around and bits and pieces of the place are under construction. For how busy it is and how pricy the ticket is you think they could do a better job. The basement is just sad. There are so many rare and beautiful artefacts in their collection that it's a shame the museum doesn't showcase them better.

This museum has an impressive array of interesting artifacts. It would take hours to understand and appreciate them all. My children especially loved the exhibition of dinosaur skeletons.

The Field Museum is awesome. Tons to see, but not a lot of interactive exhibits. You should plan at least three hours here but could spend up to a couple days if you really want to see and read everything. The main attraction is definitely Sue the T Rex, but there are tons of other great exhibits as well.

If your in Chicago this a must see. Plan on being here most of the day to get the most out of it. Artifacts from all over the place and from different time periods. The best museum I ve ever been to. Was a great experience being here. When I came they had the terra Cota warriors on display but I didn t realize you had to pay extra to see it. I missed out. Look into the city pass to save some money.

Best museum anywhere. Grand kid approved. Velociraptor to Sue the T Rex. Egyptian mummies to plant world, plenty of stuff for everyone. 350 animal specimens on display that were at the 1893 Columbian Exposition are timeless.

The Field Museum is a great place for people of all ages! I would recommend setting aside a minimum of two to three hours for any trip here. I only hold back one star because the general tickets (for non-members) and the parking are both pricey.

The 1893 World's Fair exhibit was so interesting and educational. Hard to believe the innovations that were introduced at that time. Of course "Sue" and the two huge elephants at the entrance were amazing. It felt like being in the movie "Night at the Museum". I truly expected the displays to come alive. Chicagoan's I hope you appreciate what you have. I will be back!

My husband and I aren't really into taxidermy, but the museum does have an impressive collection of animals. The mummy exhibit was interesting, but we liked the Museum of Science and Industry better.

One of the best Museums on the planet! The atmosphere in the collections halls just oozes with history and importance. This is the museum you go to when you want to be transported into the past. The lighting in the exhibits just makes you feel like you're in a movie set in the 1920s or something.

The exhibits themselves are outstandingly beautiful, and have been for more than a century. The dioramas are exquisitely crafted and kept in wonderful condition by such amazing craftspeople and scientists.

I was only able to spend 2 hours in the space, so I spent most of my time in the enormous Mammal Hall, often getting pleasantly lost in the twists and turns of exhibit cases, looking at amazing creatures many of which I could never hope to see alive in real life.

Went to the Field Museum for the sole purpose of seeing Sue the T-Rex. She is more than 90% fossil and gigantic. Also enjoyed the Egyptian artifacts and the gem room. 5,000 plus carat Topaz. Yes, 5000 plus. Crazy to see such a huge, absolutely beautiful stone. Since we were there to see Sue, we paid the base entry fee. It is not listed at the desk where you buy a ticket so ask for it if you don't want to do the Imax or special exhibits. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as this museum is large!

We spent the whole day here. Loved everything about the museum. Can't wait to visit again! Be prepared to pay extra and get the all access pass if you really want to enjoy everything the museum has to offer. Forewarned, the cafe serves a good selection for lunch but it is pricey.

This is a great place to take the family and it is so enjoyable for adults as well!!! The mummy exhibit is pretty cool and who can forget about Sue!!! The only reason I don t give it five stars is because of the food service. We paid $52 dollars for 3 meals and it was lack luster. The kids couldn t finish their meals so I asked for a to-go box and they informed me that they don t give boxes out to take food with you and we re very rude about it. I understand slightly not wanting food across the museum, but when you spend as much as it is for the admission, extras, food, and gift shop, you would think they would allow that. They even allow you to bring in Your own food. Other than that, the place was awesome and the experience was great. Just bring your own lunch...

Special exhibitions were highlights for us. Probably more so than the permanent stuff. Some parts of the museum are completely updated and some are not at all. Tons of restrooms and really like that they have an area to bring and eat your own lunch, which we did along with lots of other families.

Visited with my 17 year old son recently and we had a great time. There really is too much here for a single visit, we need to plan a return trip soon. Very impressive collection of Egyptian artifacts, animal specimens collected by museum staff (dating back many, many years), and some very well designed 'modern' exhibits such as one on bioluminescence. And of course there's Sue.

One of my favorite places to go in Chicago! If you are a history buff, it s super interesting. Also, I would consider this a great place for kids. Tickets can be a little expensive if you are not used to the cost, but I think it s worth it. Lots of awesome exhibits!

My favorite museum ever! There is so much to see, I could spend all day here. I've been going to the Field Museum since I was a kid and never tire of it. I've seen some really cool traveling exhibitions over the years in addition to their great permanent exhibitions. I live out-of-state now, but I always stop by the museum when visiting. Ticket prices are reasonable. And the museum is so big that even when there's a lot of people there, it doesn't seem that crowded.

Wow so worth it! First time ever seeing real mummies and dinosaur bones! So much to see!! Only wish it was easier to understand where things are and coordination was better, is all. Will come back.

Illinois residents get general admission for free on certain days of the year. Normally, general admission is $24/per person. Any special exhibits will cost you an extra $16/per person for each exhibit. You can't purchase tickets in advance online for illinois residents, in-person only.
We went on MLK day where they had the mummies exhibit, it was pretty awesome and def worth the $16.
Take a uber or lyft there because parking is pricey. Closest train is the CTA roosevelt station which is a 15 min walk.
