It is it is a great museum with an old-time feel and vibe. if you're interested in Egypt in Egyptian mummies this is the place to be. Also the cultures of Africa the Americas and the Pacific Islands is very interesting. make sure you see the man-eating lions and read the history of how the museum acquired them.

I loved

What a show! They teach you everything in a very interactive way, you learn about science, conservation, history and culture not only from the USA but from the world. Recommended to go with family and children. Especially for children.

Was there all day long. Some very nice and interesting expositions (not a fan of the one with the inuit and North native American, the language used was offensive) . But the rest of the museum is to put on the to do list.

Holy cow, this place is so much bigger than I expected. If you want to see all things natural history/current this is a must visit. Each wing of the building has it's own theme and one can easily spend multiple days here. The exhibits are well maintained and the staff is super helpful. A visit to here is a must.

A touch of the old and the new way of running a museum. There are great interactive displays with the modern educational approach to museum design. Alternately you will see the most well designed and diverse dioramas with countless rare and extinct animals painstakingly collected and made to represent the behaviors long lost to time. Everyone in the area should take time to visit this treasure of a museum.

It is a natural history museum in Chicago. It is near the shedd aquarium. It has big collection of books & journals like biodiversity, gems, fossils, anthropological collections, meteorites and cultural artifacts from all over the world. It has big library also, which has over 272000 books and journals on biological systematics, evolutionary biology, geology, archaeology, ethnology and material culture. It is big in size and view is very scenic.

Very large well stocked museum. Taxidermy is kind of gross, but the scale and age of their collection is impressive. I also loved all the different dinosaur skeletons! The museum has a pretty big gift shop and it made for a wonderful day out.

The Malvina Hoffman exhibit is fascinating on so many levels. Not to mention she was an incredible artist who studied with Rodin. Thinking about this whole exhibit in the context of today's globalism, food for thought.

Maybe the best museum in Chicago, due to not only the historic quality of the exhibits, but the sheer volume and variety. There is the precious stones exhibit where you can see every type of jewel, gem, or rock ever thought to be worth anything. Pretty amazing. There are dinosaur bones (biggest and most complete t-rex). The Egyptian exhibit.

AND, for those who want to see a favorite of mine, if you can find it in the basement alcoves, the stuffed Narwhals. Beautiful animals that, though it was a shame they killed them, are amazing to see up close.

Go if you are a Chicagoan who has never been or if you are a tourist (welcome!) looking for one museum to go to in your time here.

Vending machines and photo booths stole about 10 dollars, 130 bucks for 3 people. I think they should be able to update the place a little. Very educational, but sad looking displays.

The exhibits are very thorough and you could easily spend a couple days to see everything they have to offer. Our kids were disappointed to learn that the Playlab, which is an activity center for kids, is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (we were there on a Wednesday). There are some interactive sections of the exhibits but not a lot for small children. The Playlab would have been the perfect place for our 4 and 2 year old to get in on the fun. So if you're going with small children, make sure you don't go on Tuesday or Wednesday.

This museum is a lot bigger than you would think from the outside. Theyer collection of dioramas are impressive, there are some animals in the displays I have never seen in a diorama before. Theyer gem and geology collection is really nice, the mummy exhibit is one of the best I've seen. It is definitely worth an all day visit. If you want to truly see what they have to offer, you will definitely need all day.

This is a museum worth visiting when in Chicago. They have a lot of taxidermy dioramas featuring a variety of wildlife. They also have several dinosaur skeletons including the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex they call Sue. One unusual activity offered during my visit was the option to dissect a cow's eyeball!

This was one of the nicest museums I've ever been to. My hats off to the entire staff and scientists who dedicated a tremendous amount of time and tetious work to put this establishment together. This place everything you could want under one roof to entertain the entire family.

Very nice museum, you can spend two days in it. Admission about 25 . Switch Google Translator to camera and hold the phone on the information boards, you can read everything.
The highlight is the dinosaurs and cervical vertebrae of a sauropod, half the size of a human.

Incredible museum. I brought my 3 and 8 year old boys with me and we all loved it. Great exhibits, we were there all day without doing any additional exhibits and I doubt we even saw half of it.

We bought city pass to go for this which saved us some money. Being from out of town we could have saved even more by using reciprocal membership through our local museum had we thought to renew that before leaving home.

Very very highly recommended! For inexpensive souvenirs for kids look for the machines that make plastic molds of various museum items.

Very cool stop. Some of the taxidermy was not top notch but you get to see some critters you would otherwise never see. It was pretty busy when we were there, kids from school trips running everywhere. However I think it's absolutely worth a drop in to see history.

It all started with the gentleman who collected our entrance fee. In fact, I commented to him about what a great big smile he had. For me, that was out of the ordinary because where I'm from almost nobody smiles, EVER. It turned out that almost all of the museum employees we as happy as he was with only a single exception, the large woman working in the mummy exhibit. Even one of the janitorial staff struck up a conversation with us as we were walking the same direction. What a fantastic time we all had. My recommendation for those visiting, spend the extra money for the all access pass. It was well worth a few extra bucks. Oh, and be sure to wear comfortable shoes. This place is huge.

A great museum experience. Not cheap at $40 (check Groupon for deals). Some charming old exhibits (taxidermy) yet very interesting. Impressive huge dinosaurs skeletons - real ones. Some much to learn, read, listen, experience about animals, nature, civilization, history, meteorites, nature...best to plan a whole day to see most of it. Food inside (did not have time to try!) seemed to offer a good amount of choice with d air prices (no extortion!). Highly recommended if you have the time. The walk back to town will provide some of the best skyline views.
