I have been going here as long as I can remember. My family goes every single year in November as a tradition, and I've never been let down. Their food is amazing, but not at all cheap, and the service is impeccable. Wonderful place for people of all ages, and the gift shop and bakery downstairs has tons of super cool little paraphernalia!

We were born and raised in Michigan. We have eaten chicken dinners at Zender's many times when we lived in Michigan for 36 years. The food was always delicious. We often drove from Sterling Heights to Frankenmuth for dinner on Saturday. On our vacations to Northern Michigan, we often stopped for a tasty chicken meal for lunch or dinner during the week. We now live across the country. If we ever return to the area, we will definitely return. I have recommended Zender's to several co-workers when I lived in Michigan and later in Ohio, before moving to Nevada.

Went to the cafe on the lower level. Always busy but always quick service. They have 2 salads to choose from and the rest of the offerings are more like comfort foods. Chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, soups, etc. But I always go for the Michigan cherry salad with grilled chicken. Yum

We read great reviews and decided to try it when we came to visit. Seating was prompt, however our waitress was very slow. Also, they had to have the tip added BEFORE they ran our card.
The appetizers were pretty good. But the "world famous chicken" was one of the worst chickens I've ever tasted. It was beyond bland. KFC chicken is better.

If you want some good chicken/meat check out Slo' Bones BBQ Smokehaus down the road. Hands down AMAZING.

Fantastic place! Beautifully decorated, the staff was so kind and updated us often on the progress of our food (which was nice because we had small children with us)! And most importantly, the food! Every single thing brought to us tasted amazing! I so much recommend this place to eat for all ages!

The service deserves 5 stars so I wish there was a separate one for that but the food is way over hyped. It s pretty much kfc in a fancy place, chicken does taste a bit better but the potatoes are not real, they tasted like boxed and I ve had both before, of course we prefer real ones. Noodles are over cooked and the stuffing maybe a tad overly soggy but it wasn t all completely awful just way over rated and we expected better as far as taste goes. If I do come again maybe I ll try some of the other dishes but probably won t be back. If I m paying that much for dinner they should serve real mashed potatoes not some weird processed stuff. I will say the wait staff and others were very nice which is always wonderful to have when going out to eat. I know they are trying to keep food cheap and quick with the amount of people that come through but it should be quality and hire more chefs maybe to help cook it all so you can have that quality.

So very DISAPPOINTED. I grew up, coming to Zender's as a child, special family occasions and when family came from California to visit. We would stand in line for hours and never grumbled, because the food, was always excellent. It always seemed magical. Last time I was there, I had taken my 13 year old daughter and her best friend and it was wonderful. I decided to bring my daughter and 13 year old granddaughter, to Zender's. It was so very disappointing. The food was mediocre at best. The dressing, tasted like stovetop, the chicken noodle soup, was like Mrs. Grass instant soup. The potatoes, tasted like whipped instant and the gravy, was sad.
I don't understand, why they would lessen the quality of food, yet raise the prices.
We drove four hours...and Kentucky Fried Chicken, would have been better.

The Food was really good as usual. My Chicken Liver Dinner = lunch + 2 leftover meals. 4 stars only because for the 1st time in decades, the waitress was friendly but inattentive. That will be addressed by the Mjr.

We come every year for the experience but the chicken has gotten awful. It is bland and absolutely no flavor- such a disappointment. The noodles also sit in water and are mush. Work on the chicken recipe and it will be much better.

Soon as you walk in you're greeted and then you get to sit in the lobby and enjoy the fireplace. When they call you they direct you into one of the dining halls. The portion sizes are insane and the price is a steak to me. You get a wonderful spread of coleslaw, cranberry relish, a cheese and garlic bread spread with a liver pate, then we had soup and this is before the dinner is served. April was our server and she was wonderful I had the half chicken rotisserie and my date had the chicken schnitzel. The portion sizes are insane and the price is a steak to me. I look forward to going back and I'll definitely ask for April again.

We used to go here when we were kids in the late 50's. Now it is huge, seating 1600. Quality is no where near the same. The chicken lacks any seasoning at all and was on the dry side. You can't order your favorite pieces. We used to get a plate of backs, necks, hearts and gizzards at no extra charge. Mashed potatoes were hard, not fluffy, and the dressing was a solid mass. The gravy is OK, but no rolls, only bread slices, and you have to pay extra for giblet gravy or fried livers. I was really disappointed. KFC is far better. Believe me, it wasn't that way before!

It's a touristy staple in a unique town. A little pricey in my opinion, but the food and service is good and tends to be more about the atmosphere and experience than anything. Highly recommend making reservations, especially during peak times. The wait can get pretty long.

Zehnders is the classic American tourist place in Frankenmuth. If you are German or a Lutheran, it is assumed you will make the pilgrimage for the family style chicken dinner. It's good, but after your tenth visit it becomes old. Nothing ever changes, but that seems to be how the overwhelmingly Senior crowd likes it.

The ambiance here is on point. The servers were very polite. The food most of all blew my mind. The met just falling right off the phone. The braised pork shank is my personal recommendation.

What a shame google limits me to 5 stars. Very relaxing atmosphere. You won't believe how big the meals are. The steak was cooked exactly the way I like. My wife's chicken was moist and tender. Our meals started off with soup, home made bread, crackers, cheese and pate, coleslaw, and cottage cheese . The restaurant was tastefully decorated . Also has a onsite bakery and gift shop. Lots of info on local history.
