Love this place - some fabulous shops and cafe's with room for lots more - people already visiting in droves; great atmosphere. It's just right for creatives, crafts, specialities, individuality, quirkiness, elegance. New life and will really put Halifax on the map if entrepreneurs give it a go.Will definitely be worthwhile; it's great.

I've been to this place a few times while visiting Halifax and I like it more every time I go. There is a great selection of independent shops, from books to soaps. It has been fully renovated pretty recently and really looks amazing. It is such a historic place and you can tell.
If you enter the piece hall from the Westgate entrance be sure to look to the right hand side oh the gate. If you look closely you will see what appears to be a hand print etched into the stone. There are two hand prints but one has faded. Legend has it that a witch was lashed against this wall and her hand prints can still be seen today, I was told about this a few years ago and it still fascinates me whenever I think about it. Go take a look and see what you think.

This place really comes alive when it is host to a seasonal, festive or one off events. The last few events I've been to here have involved food and drink, I really think this venue lends itself to this sort of pop up type thing. Last Christmas time they had a massive tipi in the middle that housed a bar with lots of seating and even an open campfire, it certainly was a fantastic place to be and with great atmosphere.

If you plan to go here check on the website to see if there are any events happening during your stay.

Our first visit to The Piece Hall. A truly lovely place. The sun was shining and it was lovely to watch the children playing in the water. Really peaceful with a great range of shops. The ice cream was fab too!

I came to do a bit of Christmas shopping but ended up buying more for me. The little shops are charming. The only down side is that due to covid the amount of people allowed into each shop at one time is very small. Because some of the shops are so small their isn't enough room for people to pass each other, so they tend to stand at the side of you till you've moved on. Because of this I felt I had to rush so couldn't browse properly. This probably saved me a lot of money. Nobodies fault, but be warned and please be patient........The Piece Hall is just stunning. It was getting dark when we were there so with the lights on it was even more beautiful.

Came here to see Mac Demarco. It's surprisingly spacious but the gig also felt really intimate. Plenty of options for food and drink, no long waits for the toilet, wasn't cramped. Just a really nice atmosphere for a gig.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff in every shop who are happy to have a chat and explain their wares. Lots of good pop up events and foodie things so keep an eye on their website for upcoming attractions.

This is a Gem of a place to visit. If you haven't visited for a while, or never been here before, put it on your list of places to go. Clean, safe, plenty of quality shops. Food, drink, theatre, cinema, museum and library. Very few places have so much packed into such a beautiful and historic setting.

Disappointed that the Christmas Market was so small. Last time I was there (20 years ago) it was really special with dozens of stalls. Not been to Halifax since Piece Hall was returned and although it looks nice the character is somehow lost ( and closed shops don't help) in the modern additions.

Mostly independent retailers, where you can buy a little treat for someone, there's The Yorkshire Soap Co, with their very prettily presented bath bombs etc, the chocolate shop, the vinyl shop where you can also buy a coffee, cafe, loos. Can just take your own picnic, take a seat and people watch while you chill out. The stone flagged floor is still very new, so very bright when the sun shines, which is a minus, so sunglasses needed!

Really nice with lovely bands and choirs, HOWEVER the toilet situation is DIRE, 2 cubicles (one being for disabled) for women in one corner and maybe another one in the opp corner, but this is NOT adequate for the amount of public there on any given day. They que was awful with little children nearly wetting them selves waiting. I took matters into my own hands and propelled them to the front of cue which thankfully folk didn't seem to mind, but this situation needs addressing!

Great spot for food and drink. Elder restaurant in particular is great. The building itself is stunning, especially after they spent so much on it recently. There are also some great events here although they need to stop charging entry to some of the food festivals etc.

A few higher end bar \ restaurants for Halifax. Place is nice, recently renovated. Many shops generally house decoration and local arts items. Looking forward to the open air music events to happen soon, expecting sound to be great within the surrounding walls
