Really interesting place to visit. Helpful gentleman in tourist office. There is also an area where they explained history of piece hall well worth a visit - staff friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Small film with option of subtitles which was very helpful for my husband, who is deaf. Beautiful shops, lovely gifts Couple of eateries there was also chow down with various food options, in centre, however small fee to enter. The piece hall is a must visit whilst in halifax. Loved it

It's big. It's square. It's got funky shops. It's got places to get a coffee and a beer. Sadly since the renovation it doesn't have original cobbles on the ground but now has what looks like Indian sandstone flags(?)..this looks decidedly odd and out of place... rumour has it some dodgy people sold off the original cobbles to a firm in MCR even though they were meant to be replaced where they belong. Alas, that's crooked dealings by people working in the council for ya! Worth a visit regardless.

A unique venue with independent shops & eateries in the centre of town & a huge event space within easy walking of rail & bus station & Eureka! Close to Shipden Hall, former home of 'Gentlemen Jack'

Visited for the food and drink festival. Great atmosphere with bands, food stalls, beer tent, prosecco and cocktail stalls but to mention a few. Expensive tho. Outside seating including deck chairs on this day. Not many shops open in the piece hall if that was specifically what you were going for.

Food was ok.

Food was ok.
Service was less so..
We were sat against the wall and forgotten about. We had to wave and ask for everything!
Lots of places to eat around the area which we will be trying before we go back..

What a lovely place this is.

What a lovely place this is.
It has lots of lovely shops and some of the art is the best I have ever seen. The vinyl and coffee shop is a great place to relax and listen to sound music while there is also a gin emporium that you might die for. Anyway we'll worth a visit and I am sure in warmer months there will be events in the huge courtyard.

Half of units are empty, and or poorly signposted. Male toilets non existent.May take half an hour just discovering what shops are there and even then it doesn't seem worth the effort. Vast area in centre square space is wasted and would be better served by open air stalls. Given 1 star of merit as the place looks pretty and historic. I would be annoyed if i were a halifax taxpayer given the refurb costs.

I love this place. Huge and unique grade 1 listed building with a great variety of independent shops and regular events. There's something for everyone. Just love soaking up the atmosphere here.

The square has undergone a extensive people friendly change, making it more excessably for young families to be able to walk around all floors via the lift's installed. Plenty of room to sit & take in the beauty of this splendid building.

I used to go here with my architect dad in the 80s to appreciate the wonderful architecture but it was a bit sad and neglected. Went there at the weekend and so happy to see how beautifully it has been restored. Nothing has been done to distract from the building's integrity but it has been uplifted and allowed to shine. As a wheelchair user access is pretty good with lifts to the upper levels and a thankful lack of cobbles! There are some nice eateries and bars on the ground level and lots of interesting shops selling nice things - an ideal place to find that special gift for someone. The big space in the middle has been improved with steps to sit on and as I said no cobbles and I imagine it's a lovely space to see events. The area directly around the Piece Hall has been improved too, especially the Square Chapel right next door, but the rest of Halifax still looked very tired and a bit scruffy, especially the station. I just hope that the Piece Hall is a success long term with people actually spending money in the shops there. There are still a few empty ones and I do worry about the viability of the existing ones if people just come to look and don't spend. Then maybe Halifax will be able to improve the rest of the town too.

Really nice walk around the plaza of interesting shops on a Sunday afternoon.... We took a couple of hours but were a bit rushed, so would recommend half a day at least. interesting . The deli where we had a drink served the best cappuccino I've had in ages! Next time I'll be going there for the cakes which looked amazing.

Built in 1779, this historically important building has been given a significant makeover. The small independent shops are still here and they've added some lovely new additions including coffee shops, galleries, meeting rooms and re-opened the Industrial Museum. Wonderful to see it still playing a major part in Halifax's heritage.

Great architecture. Should be more popular than it is. Atmosphere seems a bit flat. Managers should be more 'life' pro-active - Buskers? Jugglers? Tours? Anything instead of nothing! This is a great asset which is not being utilised to full benefit for Halifax.
