Great renovation but still half empty and tenants in situ look transient .. at first we thought they hadn't hat time to get fitted out, but rumour has it rent reviews are already in the offing.. I wish it well but can't help feeling this isn't the next Covent garden sadly
I must confess I'm a little disappointed by Piece Hall. Seeing the architecture I would have expected to find top quality vendors here and a place where I can expect to go armed with my credit card. Although it has only been open a short while the whole place is very sparse - it is like a ghost town. Elder is a great place to grab some food. On the whole the shops are a bit neither here nor there. On a positive note I had been invited to an irish traveller themed hen party (the groom is of ancestral gypsy heritage). I managed to find the perfect outfit in one of the shops here although my companion started to feel nauseous at the fake zebra rug! Expect to find a lot of the clothes shops filled with cheap tat although it may be worth a visit for food and a casual mooch.
I will be going back but perhaps giving it a year or so until other vendors settle in. Hopefully some of the lesser quality vendors will make way for ones more appropriate in such a beautiful building.
Overall - settling in phase. Give it some time and hopefully it will be worth a visit.
Recently refurbished and looks great.
Fantastic open space for kids to run around and families can enjoy the cascading water features.
A few interesting cafes and shops dotted around if you're looking for a nice setting for a sit down with friends
Beautiful setting for boutique shops and restaurants
Obviously bad time of year to visit, but disappointed with what's on offer, probably better in summer when special events being held in the centre
Amazing architecture with a small but growing variety of shops, nice to have a hot drink with the sound of running water from the waterfall steps.
Had a drive here as mum fancied seeing it. The place is truly amazing. Who ever did refurb deserves every design award there is
Amazing Georgian heritage building. Wonderful small shops and great food
Just been to the Chow Down event. The weather wasn't the best to start but it brightened up during the afternoon. Lots of different good to choose from and plenty of visitors. Very well organised. Would definitely go again
Was good as a landmark before but has been very well renovated. Looks even better at night
If you've not been YOU are missing out . Check out the shops or relax in its tranquil surroundings with a fresh cup of you favourite hot beverage
Smaller than it looked on Antiques Roadshow big gig weekend being dismantled so lots of noise and workmen buzzing round. Also lots of the stores closed on Mondays, so avoid Mondays. From those that were open, some really good shops with the more unusual on offer some fantastic ice cream to be had. Worth a visit if in the area.
Love this place for so many reasons. Always something good to see, to buy, to eat or just to sit and admire the surroundings - and people watch!
Under renovation, should be a good venue when finished. A lot of history within these walls.
There are some niche shops here. Good for a visit if you are nearby or passing but don't travel from too far away just to visit.
Fabulous renovation, great exhibitions, brilliant independent shops and quality! Delicious and lovely.
Magnificent Georgian building full of small independent shops. Coffee shops, wine bar, bookshop, antiques, art to name a few
Historic building which has been turned into restaurants and small shopping units. Interesting history!
Piece Hall has been updated and transform so much it now feel like it's party of the way forward, such a treat to see it's not been left behind. X
Beautiful shopping area old Cloth Hall been done to a lovely standard lots of quirky little shops and cafes
Nice place to visit in summer an when there entertainment
High standard of renovation has transformed The Piece Hall as a must place to visit. Great selection of artisan shops, bars and places to eat.
great historical building plenty of good shops in it also looks better since all the work in it
Stunning building however very few shops and not much atmosphere. Never sure which doors you could use to get into the few shops
Lots of great little shops, places to eat, drink, meet.
Just fabulous, well worth a visit, lots of speciality shops, bars and deli's, just great
Loved the soap shop and the sweet shop.Lots of Shops to look in and lots of seating areas.
Beautifully restored and upgraded 17 century cloth hall. Plenty to see and do. Shops, tours, food and drink all available.
I was so looking forward to visiting here on 6th August. However what I saw was missed opportunity. A square with nothing going on, no entertainment, no stalls, no street art or food. Nothing whatsoever to do. What an amazing building and renovation but all the shops are similar, gift shops. The two eateries could not cope with the volume, queued half an hour for very overpriced drinks. Need more variety, more entertainment and music. What a wonderful space that just needs filling. I can imagine amazing concerts, food markets, kids entertainment. Why open and disappoint, people won't return ?
It's a nice environment with some nice shops and places to eat and drink, it could do with more, so I hope it fills out in the future. I miss a little bit of greenery in the square though I find it a little stark.
It's ok. After all that was spent I would expect there to be more shops but what is there is enough to keep you busy for an afternoon. The library is really nice but still needs to be organised
A great place to spend a afternoon. Shopping coffee and culture love it
This place has lost most of its original charm and the shops that made it such an interesting place to visit. Its cleaner now although I thought the original slabs were far superior to the pretentious new design of the central area.
Love going to the Peace Hall. An amazing historic place taken into 21 century.
Nice historic place, it's a shame they have took the cobbles away
Very well renovated. A good range of shops and eateries. Very good for a visit .
Leaf offered excellent vegan pasties and sausage rolls
A lovely area of independent shops in the heart of Halifax town centre.
Absolutely loved the artisan shops. The whole area is so clean
Great space for a mooch and wonder why they wanted to knock it down
Beautiful! Go on a tour - it's free. But you have to sign up at the welcome center.
What a fantastic development. Great to see this brought into use by the local Council.
Lovely place to sit and soak up the history and lovely ambiance
Great place, especially after the refurb. Some great boutique shops and great events on throughout the year.
Lovely afternoon out. Lots to see and plenty of shops to spend in! Nice weather can sit outside restaurants etc and often some event going on.
Nice place nice shops nice when food market is there
A haven for small businesses and those who want to escape the tedium of the large chains.
Good due to the fact that a street food fair was on but rest of the time really boring as not much to do unless you want a drink or chocolate. Nothing exciting to do.
Beautiful building lovely bespoke shops and really friendly staff
Interesting place to visit mix of quirky shops and good welcome centre
Great historical part of Halifax. The renovation has completely revitalized this place. Plenty high quality artisan shops, eateries and bars. Something for the whole family. Must visit place for tourists as well as locals.
Always enjoy our visit here .
Thanks x
Always liked this place from being a child. Good to see it reopened although not many shops in at the moment and the ones that are in seem quite expensive.
Beautiful building with some lovely independent shops. The gin shop has an amazing selection and the wine bar is a lovely place to relax on a Sunday afternoon!
It's ok to sit and people watch. Plenty of cafes. All a bit pricey
Poor experience greeting into event. 1 hour queuing as organisation/signage not good. Plus: searching bags ok. Putting hands inside and rifling around ABSOLUTELY NOT! Who knows whether there were light fingered security guards. More toilets (temp if necessary) and food and drink vendors needed
We went here early evening one night, very tranquil till our kids an us started running about haha
First visit here in a long long time. It s had a lot of money spent on it recently, to good effect. A good offering of shops, bars and restaurants in a pleasant space. It s like a little bit of Hebden Bridge has moved down the road to Halifax!
