A top UK destination, not to be missed by any visitor to this wonderful city.

Only saw it from the outside but it's huge and pretty

Still under refurbishment. I wish there were more signs to walk the minster in a proper order, I kind of got lost between the passages and could not find my way back in time for the next tour. But it is completely worth it. The chambers underground are Museum like, so it is very well signalled.

Great to see but frustrated at everything these days becoming more about commercialised and money.

Magnificent stained glass. I particularly love the roof in the chapter house.

Massive building half off outside covered in scaffolding. Lovely old place. Get a sense off history esp as roman colum outside..

If you can manage the steps I would recommend a visit up the central tower. If you can't the minister is still a great place to visit

Well worth the visit and entrance fee if you're interested in history and cathedrals/churches. Take one of the free guided tours for insight into some of the more unusual features. The museum below is worth a visit and is included in your ticket price.

Really stunning and beautiful buildings. Also a nice time to take a sit in the park and relax. Old town around the minster has many shopping opportunities. Simply amazing

The largest (& one of the most stunning) medieval cathedrals in Northern Europe. York Minster is steeped in history with origins dating back to 2,000 years originally as a Roman basilica. Stunning interior and exterior architecture & a brilliant interactive exhibition in the undercroft.

Amazing stained glass and the crypt was open for my visit. The tour guides were very informative and friendly. Ticket valid for one year and if able to well worth return visits.

This is a outstanding building both inside and outside including the grounds around it you would never have thought it would look so good after the devastating fire it had all these years ago it just goes to prove we still have great tradesmen that take pride in there work

Largest gothic cathedral north of the Alps, but a community nevertheless. As some of the more formal services attract visitors who may be unchurched or for whom English is not their first language, there needs to be a shift to an accessible modern Bible translation (it's possible!), and care given to delivery of the spoken word (and the sound system). 'Take it or leave it' isn't an option, and a good example of traditional worship should not be fossilized - clear explanation and clarity of presentation is part of outreach. Perhaps the Archbishop or the new Dean can take the lead. (Written December 2018 based on a visit with an enquiring relative in October 2018).

Fantastic place to visit. Worth paying the entrance fee. Very busy but it was Christmas time.

worth a visit. If you have been to larger Minsters or even been up top the Sagrada Familia, it may not be a big deal if you did not go to the top. Plenty to see on the main floor. Student tickets last for a whole year!! Unlimited entry.

Steeped in history, well worth a visit. The only place i know where you pay once, and that ticket is valid for one year after the date of purchase.

It does not resemble, European sisters .. The cathedral is the better preserved part of old York

10-11 pounds the entrance. But you can see something if you enter and stay right at the entrance.

York Minster is a beautiful place to visit
There is a sense of calm around it even when there are lots of people there.
Obviously this is a building steeped in history. My boyfriend is an architectural stone mason by trade so naturally felt very at home here
Well worth a visit

This is a must visit site in York. The building is magnificent. It is rich in history and beautiful spaces to explore. Up the stairs to the tower or down the steps underground are places visit. The stain glasses are richbin history. I love most the feeling of angels all around watching.

So much to see and do here! The tours of the minster are great, as is their museum in the crypt. I'd recommend beginning with the crypt and then moving up to the minster once you have some background on the history of the place. Id also highly recommend their lesser known tours of the stone masons and the scaffolding. Both are so interesting, though they should be booked in advance. The guides are also fantastic here, which made the experience wonderful.

Being in York and not visiting the cathedral is a big mistake. And not necessarily for believers, the cathedral is above all a pearl of architecture, both from the outside and inside. Its size is impressive, it's nice that the admission ticket is valid for a year.

The architecture and the grandness of the building is amazing. negative: to pay entry fee if you would like to go in just attend on Sunday

Wow so full of history and even listened to the organ and bells. Well worth the trip.

Anyway, the scale is big. Other famous cathedrals and churches look smaller than here. There are many small but wonderful places. Maybe whenever I go, I'm repairing it somewhere.

York is a really beautiful city, centered around this cathedral, with various museums, tourist attractions, and shops in the city center surrounded by old walls. I think you'll probably like it just to stroll around for a couple of days.

Fuming at the fact that i was not allowed to go up the tower for only being 14weeks pregnant! Absolutely ridiculous! As i am fit and healthy and one of the reason i wanted to come to york for our 1st wedding anniversary!
