Alit of construction going on at the moment. And a funeral so it was half closed

Loved this place and loved walking up all the 275 steps. Absolutely beautiful inside takes ones breath away

York was ideal for a day visit with heaps of attractions and good food

Stunning architecture but they did have restoration work going on which meant not everything - including the crypt- was open. Hence just the 4 * rating

I feel that I am doing York Minster an injustice in that I don't think anyone can adequately describe just how magnificent and beautiful this architectural gem is. This is an absolute must visit if you are visiting York. I am not religious but you can't help but be moved in some spiritual way when you look around.
The exterior is a pictionary of architectural delights and the interior will take your breath away in both scale and craftsmanship. Historically, the timeline of York Minster is amazing and will lead you off on many interesting roads. Vikings, Romans, great fires and mice (this last one I'll leave you to discover but I'll tell you now it isn't a rodent problem)!

Amazing in the size and detail. If you are not claustrophobic and in decent health pay the extra 5 sterling to walk the circular staircase to the top of the tower.

Beautiful huge and worth every penny to visit. Its my 2nd time.

I went to York Minster last month August with my son who is currently living in Leeds. It was a fantastic place to see breathtaking. Would love to go back. The guide Sandra was very good. I thoroughly recommend it

A beautiful building in a beautiful city. I have been around the Minster a few times and always find it a pleasure when doing so. Well woth a visit if you're in York and haven't been before.

York is my favourite city in the UK. History, atmosphere & lovely people. Amazing places to eat and stop for coffee.

If you are visiting York, be sure to visit the York Minster. I don't normally like visiting religious buildings / churches, but due to the more recent history associated with this place (the fire and the extensive renovation works and the structural works required to the main tower) I found this visit quite interesting. The main room as you enter the building is immense with huge decorative stained glass windows which incredible design and detail. Be sure to find and look at the famous "Rose Window".

The Chapter room is wonderful. With its large decorative stained glass windows and be sure to look up and see the ceiling.

The museum is also very interesting. Part of the museum provides information on the major structural works which were undertaken because if cracking and sinking of the main tower due to the foundations being inadequate to support it. As you walk round you can the concrete collar and the steel rods which were installed to strengthen the foundations.

Really stunning building in the centre a must see for anyone visiting

As a history nut all I can say is that the premises has been a mind blowing experience, well worth a visit in the present for a history nut like me.
And i can say that I look forward to seeing the premises on a visit in the near future again.

Fabulous place to visit with a wealth of interesting historical stories. The climb to the tower is grueling and claustrophobic but well worth it at the top

Gorgeous building and atmosphere. Don't attempt to climb the tower unless you are very fit and do not suffer from claustrophobia at all.

I didn't go inside but it's nice to walk around it and see the outside of it lot of work going on so it should be nice when it's finished

it's a very impressive and beautiful cathedral. The visit for university of york students it's free

WOW, impressive ... what I did not know before that the church asked for admission, I have been to some churches in Europe, but this is new.

Dont go to York without taking a look at this awsome minister inside & out

You need to go inside. You will remember it for years. The price is a bit steep but it s still worth it. Climb to the top.

You now have to pay to enter ? Thought these along with brit museums were free ?

This place does not need a review. Go there. Primest spot to start exploring the surroundings.

A steep but worthy climb up the tower. The crypt history was fascinating.
Well worth a visit. The only issue is when the front of the minster is used for memorials/private use it would be nice to be fore warned as people travel some distance and there is no reduction on entry price!

Beautiful cathedral with a real sense of history. Amazing acoustics (did a choral gig here!). Staff are friendly and attentive, well worth visiting if you come to York.

Didn't go in too expensive, shouldn't have to pay to visit a place of worship, a donation is more acceptable
