Probably the best motel in Virginia Beach. Wonderful staff. Shannon at front desk is outstanding. Motel and restaurant staff all great. Secluded and well situated on beach. Historic motel (Surf Club) to beat. We'll maintained. We'll definitely be back!

No responsible room-cleaning: We found a left shirt, the bathroom dirty and the room-service from the next floor put the water to our balcony. The bed linen was made on the left side, the shower water did not run off in the bathtub. After 4 times the complaint was only resolved after about 10 hours. And that in hot August.
VERY AFFORDABLE CLEAN ,NICE STAFF LOCATION ON THE BEACH GREAT PARKING DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TO FRIENDS SURF CLUB OCEAN GRILL WAS EXCELLENT OUR HOSTESS TERRY DID AND OUTSTANDING JOB
The Wyndham's staff and Surf Club grille are excellent. Unfortunately the rest of the hotel is showing its age. Carpets throughout are worn and dirty. Ceiling leaks appear to be ongoing. All amenities such as guest laundry, fitness room and pool are closed due to Covid, but these areas are run down and in need of updates. Room furniture shows signs of long term wear and tear. Bed mattresses are comfortable but the frames don't feel sturdy. Parking spaces are small. Several rooms are pet friendly.
Upon Checking in, my wife found spoiled milk and an old drink in the refrigerator. We called to have it removed and asked that the bathroom be inspected before housekeeping left our room. She said it looked fine. Later that night, while showering our 6 y.o., my wife noticed a dirty, hairy wash rag hanging from the curtain rod in the shower. She called again to be met at the door by a man holding wash cloths. She told him that she didn't need more towels and showed him the dirty rag. He made a horrified face and asked if he could use one of our towels to remove it, proclaiming "I'm not touching that, it's disgusting!" Later that night I was insulted by a front desk employee, then 3 days into the trip, my family and I returned to our room to find the door closed and a hotel employee in our bathroom (10:00 pm ish), who left rather quickly when confronted. He said that he was there to clean our tub but must have had the wrong room. When I went to the front desk, I asked why he would be there running water in my room with no cleaning products, no cleaning cart, no clipboard, and no wash rag. No answer. " make sure nothing was stolen and let me know". My wife and kids asked me for the rest of the vacation if they should hide their ipads and phones. Over the week's stay, i had several conversations with front desk staff as well as a so-called manager who turned out to be the Reservation Specialist. Take my advice, don't stay at this hotel. I have been to VA Beach every year for the last 7 and this was by far the worst service I have received.
Views of the ocean was great, but, I had to clean the air conditioner filters, (the unit is set to turn off/on every 15 minutes, try sleeping with that). I had to call maintenance to defrost the mini fridge and notify him that the exhaust fan in bathroom does not work, housekeeping was summoned to replace the moldy shower liner, was taken back on the mold/mildew in the tile grout in shower. this was all within the first hour that we arrived. I noticed our sheets were not changed, even after I left the notice for housekeeping on the bed as required, we were there for 7 nights, the place overall was dirty. staff was pleasant..but had no interest in going beyond to make things better. I will be getting in touch with corporate office, we paid way too much money to be treated this way. I will not be returning and my husband and I will not recommend as well.
Had a nice stay at the Wyndham. Location is a bit north of all the action, but less noise is great with me. Room was clean. We stayed in a suite with kitchenette and it would have been nice if there were a few dishes or glasses in the cabinets but we made do. The room had two balconies with a partial ocean view.
Well...its basic and by itself. Busy hotel which is showing its age though. But, nice beach that is fairly well maintained. Beach is quite wide like most of VA beach fronts. Pool is a bit of a mess and faces the garage. Not upscale by any means, but....get a high floor with the oceanside and it's very good, really. All I wanted was the beach without all the fuss...and that's what I got! Parking garage onsite too.
Restuarant on site is ok value and has a morning buffet too on the weekends. Lunch sandwiches are around 15 dollars....crab cake was just so so. The fried fish and chips...is a lot! Good view though of the ocean on the patio with a beer or two!
Again this is no high end hotel but if all you want is the beach...take a look!
I would have given it zero stars if possible. AC in room did not work, balcony roof looks like it is about to fall in. Elevators only work sometimes. Bathtub did not drain properly.. TV, coffee maker, and mini fridge are all run with extension cord. Towels are dry rotted and fall apart (if you can even get towels at all). I spoke to management on site about the issues and was told "That's not my problem". I would stay as far away from this property and its staff as you can.
No clean towels on day. Even though we contacted the front desk 2x on phone and 2x in person, we didn't get any clean towels. There was a Volleyball tournament literally outside our door!!!!! So instead of a nice beach view we were assaulted with noise, yelling, screaming and loud music!!!! No table on balcony. Wife feels fear from tilt of balcony - seriously coming away from wall and leaning downward. Glass doors super dirty. No holders or handles in shower. The covering on the entrance ramp is torn and tripped me up - super dangerous . Roach on floor by the dirty sliding glass door. When the front desk was presented with our concerns, we were told to call the 800#. Real terrible service.
The rooms was not up to cleanliness standards. Not only are they not cleaning for Covid-19, they're not thoroughly cleaning at all. Light switches were dirty. Carpets weren't vacuumed. There was no sheet between the bottom sheet and the shabby looking duvet.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I was very confused, I wasn't sure if, I were at the right hotel. The pictures in the website are very different, the rooms were very nice and cleaned. The hotel looks old, the building is falling apart and the parking lot was very dirty. After I checked in the hotel, I went upstairs into the room, I was in chocked, the carpet was very dirty, the bed box spring was broken, the bed was on the floor. I had to call the front desk to be moved to another room. The new room had two queen size beds. In the new room, one bed was new, the other one was broken. I was too tired to go back downstairs, to change the room again. For $234.00 a night, I was expecting a very nice hotel with a clean room with a good matters and box spring bed. I was going to give the hotel 1/2 of a star, but since the young woman at front desk was very nice and pleasant. I gave the hotel a star. I will never go back to the hotel again. The hotel was discussing......
The lunch menu on Sunday had lots of choices & was very reasonably priced. The fish & chips were good, but the fish was a little "fishy." Overall I enjoyed it. Lovely patio too.
Very nice Virginia Beach hotel. The pool however is not very friendly to people that have trouble getting into pools. No entry steps in outdoor pool. Just ladders
Great space, open and clean. Staff was very helpful. Attended a Christmas party there, the food was good and the drinks were reasonably priced. A talented pianist was there but it was hard to hear due to the acoustics of the room. However, there was a lot of open space for milling about and talking. Overall I enjoyed my visit here, I think the views would have been great if it wasn't storming the evening I was there.
It was ok, mattress needed to be changed as I could feel every movement from other person hot tub water needed to.be changed or something was gross. Pool was ok.
Well......let s start with the positives. It is in a beautiful location, away from the boardwalk and its located right on the beach. As for everything else, that is a different story. After checking in while the way to the room, I noticed a bucket catching water from a leak in the ceiling, I turned the corner and there was another bucket under a leak! This was my first stay at this Wyndham hotel and so far I was not getting a good impression. Upon entering the room we found there were dirty towels left in the tub, areas of the sink had not been cleaned, the floor not vacuumed and there was dust everywhere. I must say that upon notifying the front desk, two supervisors came up to clean the room almost immediately. Throughout the rest of our stay, housekeeping consisted of getting clean towels and pulling the covers over the bed, but not straightening the covers. I could go on and on but the bottom line is this is a hotel badly in need of updating from top to bottom, and the housekeeping staff could benefit from training in cleaning a room and so on. My advice is to read the reviews before booking a room in this hotel!!!
Great place to stay. Have a suite and OMG, the bed is like floating in air. I would highly recommend a stay. Great place and room service is excellent... Have fun on your stay here..
They charged my card 4 times for a one night stay very disappointed with how that could even be possible put a very big inconvenience for me and my family I've never dealt with anything like this in my life it ruined my first experience ever even dealing with them
When checking into our room we had to call the front desk for the following: the bathroom lights were out, no wash cloths, hand towels, and tv was not working. Later that night, I pulled my bed down to find crumbs, hair (what looked to be dog hair), and a stain on the sheets. I called the front desk at 11:00 pm and asked for someone to come change sheets. I called for the next hour and a half to check in with the status of the sheets, even agreeing to sleep on a roll away bed for the night. Finally at 12:30 AM someone left sheets at the door for myself, the paying customer, to put on. However, pillow cases were not given. I slept with my beach towels, refusing to change the sheets. I called the front desk to let them know how the problem was "solved." The gentleman on duty, said nothing could be resolved until a manager came in at 9am. I called down at 10am asking for someone to come service the room. She said someone was coming right up to "VIP" the room for us. We left the room for two hours, then returned to find the room in the same condition. I called the front desk once again and of course the same response was given... "someone will be right up." After leaving the room for a second time for over an hour, I returned and my bed was made. I pulled back the sheets only to find the SAME stains, crumbs, and hair that was there when checking in. The manager sent up an "inspector" who observed the dirty bedding and sent for a housekeeper to change the dirty linens. Finally, after over 24 hours after checking in we had clean sheets on our bed. The manager offered to give us a late checkout for our troubles, refusing any reimbursement. I feel that our room was not in adequate condition for guests for over 24 hours, therefore I should not be charged. This situation is easily a health code violation and should not be tolerated.
My stay was disappointing. On June 23rd I arrived with my family of 6. My check in time was at 4pm only to find out after the 4th time back and fourth with the front desk, my room wouldn't be ready until 7:45pm. Once I arrived in my room their were 0 towels and no sheets for the pull out couch. Coffee stains on the floor, sliding glass doors were dirty, crumbs on the couch, as well as a non working phone. My question was; why did I wait over 3 hours for a room like that? I had to call the front desk from my cell phone, only to receive poor service from the lady on the other end. Who in fact, dropped my call when I asked to speak to a manager. My towels and sheets finally 9:45pm. I am still waiting to hear from the General Manager. As I am hopeful she cares enough to learn how her guest were treated in this hotel.
Check in is at 4pm. We got there at 6 and they told us our room wasn t ready. Which I understand because of covid-19 they don t have many people working. But why say check in is at 4pm and tell us it s not ready and say they re going to call us once it s ready. It was close to 8 and we still hadn t received a call from them. Many people infront and behind us went through the same thing as us in line.
I love that motel, and when I go to Virginia Beach again, I will stay there. They allow dogs, and it is down the beach, so it gives you the feeling you have the beach to yourself. There are lots of floors, and the staff is friendly. They have a parking deck, so you have a parking space! A BIG plus when it comes to Virginia Beach.
Nice place for a weekend getaway. Oceanfront with indoor pool and its own restaurant. Is off the beaten path a bit so more quiet than the boardwalk at Va Beach.
Avoid, dingy unkept rooms with poor ventilation. Some of the guests were smoking weed on the floor I was staying at with my family and it stunk up the whole floor including our room. Also apparently it s fine to smoke w/e you want here since the fire detectors are just for show and don t currently work. Don t worry though cause while the fire detectors don t work, the fire alarms works well, and just randomly goes off during the day and night. It makes for a fun family activity while scrambling to get the kids out the door at midnight. Customer service was atrocious, the carpet in our room was still dirty from previous guests and after asking all day for a vacuum to clean up the room I finally just found a utility closet with a vacuum and cleaned our room.
... the only thing that was good about this hotel is the TOP beach and the many parking spaces. Otherwise you can recommend this property to anyone. The whole decor is outdated, dirty & everywhere it smells like animal !!! We even left early Do not be fooled by great photos on the web !!! Conclusion: The part would have to be completely renovated.
So far it hasn t been a great experience or a great first impression. They only thing great about it is the view of the ocean. We arrived after the check in time which is 4pm n our room wasn t ready till 7pm. The hallways smell so bad n the fridge isn t working. Told the front desk n no one has been up here to look at it yet. Also, with being 2 of us here there was only was only one wash cloth n when calling for more it took over an hour to get them up to our room. Blah!
I got an ocean front view from my room which was nice, but the room was dirty. There was dried gum on the desk chair. The bathroom had mold. The bathroom sink clogged up. The hotel is very out dated. It is very far away from everything else in the middle of a residential area.
Stayed in the east tower old and noisey. Toliet ran, slow drain in tub and the outside door crash open when someone walks thru. But the staff is friendly.
Arrived to the hotel after a 3.5 hour drive at 6:30pm only to be told the room isn't ready and I'm 5th in line for a room. So here I am sitting outside the hotel for hours because there is no room available. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars because I'm anticipating and hoping for a pleasant stay. As of right now.....this is ridiculous.
Really bad experience!!! Awful place. We were expecting something cleaner and better. This hotel did not meet our expectations. This is the second time we stay here and there is always issues. Last time the lights were not working on the bathroom and nobody came to fix it. This time they offered me a quote over the phone and when I arrived it was more than expected. This place is really old and falling apart and I was told that the room I was given was one of the better ones (I don't want to imagine the condition of the other rooms).
No microwave! Seriously?!! $280 a night and no microwave. Wow. Property is beginning to run down. Needs serious attention. People and service were excellent.
Aweful.. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Upon check-in there was no toilet paper in my room. I later realized that there was a leak in the sink and that 1 of the 2 beds in the room was broken.. And then I also had to listen to dogs barking half of the night.
If the smell of weed engulfing your room, the smell of piss in the walkways and obnoxious music pounding through the walls Is your dream vacation. Well then you ve found your heaven!
To top this off. Around 2:30am While sleeping. We hear someone trying to get into our room. Thinking like normal people. They ll figure it out and realize it s not their room and go elsewhere. You d think? No. The door was busted down. The security lock flying across the room. Standing there are 3 absolutely wasted douchebags:
Oh dude, sorry we thought it was our room. My bad
Management never came to fix the door. We had to prop up the door, push it back into its frame. Not being able to sleep wondering what else was going to happen.
The next morning. Dealing with the front desk. We May as well have spoken our concerns to a rock.
Sorry, but it IS a party weekend
Seriously?!?
Now this happened in April 2019 I ve held off on this review. Thinking that there could be some professional reprieve.
Again, NO. I ve left countless messages With corporate and their physical locale. Only to have my calls blatantly ignored. No call backs. A feel of this will just go away.
Their absolute disregard, lack of professionalism and owning any kind of responsibility of ruining our holiday was and still is shameful.
Furthermore, If this isn t enough for you to be repelled from this hotel. Here are a few things to take note of.
The continental breakfast being served; you may as well be an inmate at a correction facility. The dining area is filthy. The food so obviously recycled from mornings past, food so processed that eating your water bottle has more nutrients. All served on/in styrofoam cups and plates.
The work out area is a disgrace. Antiquated, broken, seats ripped. You could actually get hurt if you weren t careful. A real joke.
The pool. You guessed it CLOSED! Due for repair.
The complimentary wi-fi, there s a reason why it s complimentary. It works half the time
Now if you value your car. Beware!! I had to yell several times at people drinking and smoking while sitting on the hood of my car. As though my BMW were the coffee table at their white trash party. Unreal.
Seriously, this review is quite accurate.
Spend your money elsewhere.
Don t let it turn into our disaster, without a single care from this hotels management.
You ve been warned.
The one good thing about this property. It s pet friendly!
The banquet staff was not efficient. They told us our seats were in the "aisle way" but that is where they set the tables up! They kept trying to take our plates and glasses when we still had A LOT of food left on them and more than half our drink left. I had to physically grab mine from her before she took it away because she grabbed it up so fast!
