We love any zoo because we are animal lovers, but for the prices we pay the zoo should be a little nicer. Some of the enclosures seemed a little dirty and the people aren't very friendly.

Lots of dirt so don't wear sandals or any shoes you care about. Questioning why small animals have such a large habitat but larger running types were in smaller cages. Very puzzling. The zoo map was not accurate, which wasted time. We were there on a school field trip so we only had a few hours and tried to map our journey accordingly.. missed a few sections because of the map. There is plenty to see and enjoy but the add on rides are quite costly and makes for an unfun day having to keep telling your children no. Rides were 6-15 dollars each. Not cheap on top of the zoo admission which is not cheap.

This zoo is great. The exhibits feel like you are really close to the animals. The shows were informative and fun. Definitely take the tram ride for the back area of the park. The guide was informative and we really got to see the animals up close. The aquarium area is nice too with a couple of tough pools our kids loved.

Giving three stars because there were people not wearing face masks and there were people smoking cigarettes. And I don t know if this is allowed but obviously no one who works at the park told all of these people I saw anything. You pay a lot of money to go inside and when you are wearing a face mask and have to deal with people smoking and not wearing one, it takes away from the whole experience.

This is one of the absolute best zoos in Arizona. You get up close and personal with so many animals. It's a cash only zoo so I'd plan on eating or riding any of the rides makes sure you bring some. They do have ATMs on site too and pricing is actually very reasonable. We go a couple times a year and it's always fantastic.

We stopped here on our way through Phoenix and paid around $120 + tax for myself my husband, 8 yr old and 4 yr old. Was expecting something great from the flyers we picked up. This place could be great but it is so dirty, from the cockroach that ran past us inside of one of the run down restaurants, to the dead bird my husband accidentally stepped on, the dead half eaten rat my son put his hand on while looking at an exhibit, the ants that were swarming around some of the birds cages and bit my little ones legs and not to mention the rats running in and out eating the birds food( NOT PART OF THE EXHIBIT)It was all to much for the price we paid. The kids loved seeing the animals which I'm sure are very expensive to upkeep but the cages were not well kept and they really need to use some of the pricey entry fees to also keep up the place. I will say the aquariums were really cool.

We had a very nice time. You ll spend at least four to five hours here if you try to see everything. There are a lot of birds here, there is an opportunity to feed some parakeets. That was an awesome experience, my son got a kick out of the birds landing on his head and shoulder. There are so many animals here. The aquarium was nice, there were so many exhibits, I m not sure we saw everything. We got there about 1200 and left a bit after 1600.

Very expensive. Should have senior discounts and reduced prices for children under 10. Had a coupon and admission still was over 80 dollars for 2 seniors and 2 children. Any rides were extra. Was very hot so spent more time in the enclosed air conditioned exhibits. Only managed to see 1/3 of the park for the money. May not be returning.

We love this zoo. It has become our Thanksgiving tradition to get kids out from under foot while the dinner cooks. There's a lot of extras and opportunity for interactions with the animals. My only reduction in stars is that it's expensive and so many things are $3-$6 more. Make sure you bring quarters for all the animal feedings. And you don't get a lot of pellets for your .50 cents

Portions are HUGE! They are not kidding with the Brontosaurus Ribs! Super good, super clean place, great for families. Everyone loved it there. The Shark tank is awesome to look at while you are eating, or you can sit outside and watch the flamingos!

One of the best zoos I have been to in the country and was a great family adventure. You can get closer to the animals here than any zoo I have ever been to. The safari part was great. I thought a monkey might rip a lady's finger off, as she was dumb enough to feed him despite the signs saying not to.

Absolutely loved it, bring plenty of quarters for the feeding stations and it will be well worth it. Bring lots of food if you plan to see the Whole Foods or go to one of the many restaurants they have on site. They also have a barbecue restaurant adjacent to it where you can look at flamingos while you eat.

Lots of animals and cool stuff to see. Gets better everytime we go. But it will cost you. Everything is so expensive. No one rides the rides because they dont want to pay such high prices. They should cut the prices in half so people would actually ride them.

Always love coming here! While it is a bit expensive in my opinion we do enjoy our visits. With our AAA discount it was still 120.00 for 2 adults and 1 teenager! I enjoy all the monkeys, the sea lion show and always feeding the giraffes! I also enjoyed the comedic reactions of parents as two sets of turtles celebrated Valentines Day LOL Nature at its finest! lol We had a great day and after 4 and a half hours still did not see everything! Bring your walking shoes for sure!

This is a BIG!! PARK!, make sure you wear good walking shoes. There is a enormous variety of Cockatiels, Monkeys, and Aquatic Life. Children are able to feed the animals for $.25 at the petting zoo.

Great way to spend the day with animals from around the world! Always a great visit, love the new exhibits. Nature talk was so much fun. Tank the armadillo was a hoot. Tram ride through the different areas was fun too, great driver!

The best zoo in Arizona. A large cross section of animals from around the world. Lots of shade which can be VERY important on Arizona. The animal habitats made it very easy to see the animals which isn't true for some other zoos. They have several rides that offer unique views of the zoo.

All the way from Chicago to visited this Zoo for my son, JB and family to see and we actually love it! Especially we love to feeding the animals! I know it s kinda pricey but it s definitely WORTH IT! This is one of the best zoo ever we visited! We will love to go there again whenever we visiting Arizona.

Went with my son and spent a fortune on admission, rides, toys, and food just to be refused a cup of water at the eatery that ripped me off on their disgusting food. To be refused a cup of water on a hot day by an embarrassed teenage while being shot a dirty look by a manager who probably couldn't bus tables at my restaurant is absurd. The zoo was mediocre and tries to charge you for something every 15 steps, which I was fine with until the water cup incident. That soured me to the whole experience and he was lucky I didn't jump the counter and remove that look he gave me and my 3 year old son

Cute zoo, most animals were out to see but a few were inside. It would be great if the zoo would put windows to look through when they aren't outside. Otherwise it was fun, you can feed some of the animals. It's 50 cents for a small amount, the giraffes were fun and watching the monkeys! Eating at Dillons BBQ was delish too which is next door.

This father for children have fun with games and animals. And if it is possible to bring your own water because if it is expensive to buy water just a while and the water in the drinking trough is very bad lo but everything else is good!

We spent a few hours there during our trip to Goodyear. It was fun. They had a good variety of animals and stuff to do.. feed giraffes, pet the sting rays, safari tram. We got there around 9 on Sunday and beat the crowd. Overall, excellent visit.

Today was supposed to be another adventure, we went to this park with the family. Literally the worst park I've ever been too. The animals don't look happy at all. the habitats were way to small for the exotic animals that are there. No water stations that work and the ones that do are located in the sun so the water came out hot. The two cafes in the shop were closed while the park was still open. Literally have to spend over 100$ for 2 people plus everything in the park is extra.. tickets 42$ log ride 6$ per person, 5$ for a drink!! So literally had to wait to get out of the park to get water. We went to the feed a giraffe station and I didn't even know they had a worker there. Until I said "man I wish I could get change" and then he poped out saying "I'm right here" Rudely then as I gave my kids the food and niece and nephew I asked cliff ( the worker) "how can you tell the difference between a male and female?" He said " read a book!" Never have I ever been talked to like that in front of my kids when I paid to come to this park. So rude and disrespectful!! I wouldn't recommend anyone to come to this park not even on a cool day.. WORST PARK!!

This zoo is more casual in atmosphere than the Phoenix Zoo. They have a great number of birds in addition to a few large animals and assorted smaller ones. It's nice to switch over to the indoor aquariums as the day heats up. The adorable penguins alone are worth the cost of admission.

This not the kind of zoo you want to support. Your money is not going to animal conservation or education, it is going to the pocket of one person. I ll try to briefly state some points:

1. This is a privately owned zoo. That means the owner has control. Which is fine if you have a caring owner. This one is not though. He is in it for the profit. Which is obvious by the constant upkeep and construction of rides that you have to pay for. Also, ask the staff how much they get paid. He offers them the minimum amount he has to. Any benefits full-time workers usually get are pretty much non-existent. Long time staff make less than what other zoos pay entry level workers. With this type of model, either the staff work extra jobs perpetually or they go somewhere else (so what s left is overworked/exhausted staff or staff that aren t high quality). The owner relies on the fact that people enter this field for their passion, and he takes full advantage of that. There are so many examples of him cutting corners to pocket a profit for himself. Which leads to the next point:

2. Animal care is not a priority. This zoo meets the minimum qualifications at best for a lower tier certification than other zoos. Look at the exhibits, they aren t that great. That s because the owner puts little thought into their construction based on the perspective of the animals. You can even ask the staff, he continuously ignores their opinions with every new exhibit. And the next time they are building one, go watch who is building them. His maintenance staff are an interesting crew to say the least. These exhibits are designed to meet the very minimum qualifications in order to maximize how many they can squish into the property, and they are built by people who do not care and who you seriously wonder if are even sober. This approach by the owner continues to other areas such as poor diets, poor cleaning standards, few enrichment options, etc. This list could be very long. And yes it always comes from the top. When the staff bring up certain issues, they are almost always denied or ignored.

Everything I say can be verified by simply signing up to volunteer. Since the owner set it up so staff have to rely on people who are willing to work for free, there is rarely a shortage of need for people to volunteer. You can easily observe any of this for yourself from just volunteering once a week. Then you can also see what happens when government agencies such as the USDA get called for inspections (which happens more than it should). The owner has a plan to sneakily evade the inspectors on certain points he know he d get cited for. For example, slapping uniforms on volunteers to pretend they were stationed somewhere, or quickly cleaning certain exhibits to make it look they are cleaned every day. Your money is better spent elsewhere

The zoo itself is really awesome, but the people attending are the real animals. The parking lot and the people make the zoo no longer worth it, would rather just go to the Phoenix zoo to avoid those animals.

Worth the drive!! Absolutely the best zoo experience, get your walking shoes on because it is spread out. I love walking thru the animal grounds then finishing up at the aquarium areas. Plan your visit for 2hours minimum.

We went to the zoo for our baby's 4th birthday. We brought his strider( balance bike with no pedals) he was just enjoying his visit staying on his side of the walkway that had nobody on it when out of nowhere comes a shrewd lady who says "um that is not allowed in here". Funny how that is because there is nothing on any door or window or though out the park. I have pics of that. I spoke to April, who is pleasant, and she says it is a liability, and those who bring in a wagon or wheel chair or stroller assume their own liability, "isnt that the same with my son" I asked, and she says" it all falls under the umbrella of bicycles ". I was in no way shape or form trying to cause a problem, but Knotts berry farm and Disneyland both have let him in, and they are more stringent on " Liability " I gave knew star because only one star stood out and that was April.

My youngest son came here on a field trip and we finally had a chance to go as a family (kids 9, 7 and 2.5). It was 45mins on the 101 from Tatum/101. We came on a Monday (10/18/20) at opening and it was cool, quiet and clean. Easy parking. No crowds. No lines. And we had a groupon... Sweet!
So many animals were out and about and in good moods! The animals here seem very happy and well cared for. The jaguar, camels and rhino actually came when called/approached?! We fed the giraffes and stingrays. They were very friendly. Many of the rides are still open and we enjoyed all of them. The staff was friendly and welcoming, a definite plus!
We did not eat at the restaurants, but they were all situated nicely on exhibits and spaced throughout the park as well as the bathrooms. My family is GF/DF so we brought our own lunch and next time will be checking ahead to see if we can dine there.
We will happily come back, and place this as one of the top zoo experiences we have had from across the country. I prefer here to Phx zoo for layout/flat terrain, crowd size and animal access and disposition.

Coast to get in is a little steep. The Zoo it's self was so much fun and there is so much to do . Wish there were more people that work at the zoo out and about to answer question and guide people. But this is a great place over all to bring the family for fun and adventure. I have taken my child twice and my mother once and we had the best time . Great exercise also.
