I have visited this zoo a lot since I was a kid. It is my favorite zoo. They have come a long way in making bigger enclosures for some of the animals and I hope they continue. Every time I go, they have made improvements. The sea lion show is so cute and entertaining. Making time to see any of the shows or feed the lorries is a must. The penguin feeding is great also. It's a wonderful family experience.

The membership prices are ridiculous here. $150 for one single adult. When we had a family membership just a few years ago it was under $200 for 4 of us. Luckily there is another zoo that's more affordable.
This is a great place to take the kids and wander around for 2 or 3 hours. We buy the membership so we can go as much as we want. Well worth it. Nice shaded picnic area with tables. You can pack a lunch and snacks and bring them in with you.
It's always a good time with the family but at $40 a ticket, we don't go often. They added quite a few amusement rides, all at $6 per person per ride. The zipline is $15 per person per ride. Only saw a couple of people on the rides during our visit. They should consider a package price or lowering the cost to something reasonable. They pay someone to sit at each ride with nobody riding. Doesn't seem like a good business decision to me. Maybe that's why it cost $40 to get in.
So much to see ! We got there at opening and left at 230 and still didn't see it all! Take cash for rides. Oh and quarters to buy food to feed the animals so much fun.
Amazing collection of exotic birds, and other species. Very hard pressed to say this is worth the C-Note cost of admission for a family of three, though.
When we went to purchase tickets the internet said buy a ticket get one free but we couldn't get the coupon to come up, the cashier would not accept that so it ended up costing 115.00 dollars just to get in the Zoo. Then all the rides and snack areas are a cash basic so to use the ATM I had a 2.00 fee. Small bottles of water were 3.50 each meaning for 4 people it was 14.00. They are making 84.00 on a 3.50 case of pop. You can not take any food in. And the most pitiful thing is they do not honor our military on the spot. ( I am not Military) The Easter Egg hunt was a joke...there was no monitoring on the ages of children so big kids ran in scooped up the eggs there were little kids who did not get one egg. Shame on the parents of the big bullies taking advantage of little children. Just to say I love the animals at this Zoo but we will not be back. For the 150.00 I spent there I could of bought a membership at the phoenix zoo for a year, plus you take your drink cups back and get 1.00 refills and you can take a picnic lunch in. Also, this Zoo could use some major clean up. The African Eagle exhibit is a disgrace, poor bird! The one star which I had to give to get this posted is for the administration.
This zoo is great it s a great place to go for a family trip. But the fact about a jaguar attacking a human being is dangerous this can t be a safe place if they don t make that animals cage safer for humans. The zoo should be a safe place for people to see animals they like.
Even though the temperature was above 100 degrees, there were plenty of cool shady spots and air conditioned buildings so spending 5 hours there in the summer heat was doable. Very relaxing experience with tons of exotic animals up close and personal, not far off in the distance like many zoos. Food is expensive but the cafe had A/C so it was worth it to sit inside and relax for a while. Lots of animals that I have never before seen even though I've been to many zoos. Lots of baby animals....more than any other zoo I've been to. I had a great day even though I was there solo.
Best medium sized zoo ever. We saw animals that we've never seen before. The attractions were clean and well cared for. The rides are a little pricey so we didn't try them. Food prices are pretty typical. We will definitely go back.
So many birds and monkeys. The giraffes, cougars, tigers, and lions are healthy and beautiful! Better than Phoenix Zoo or San Diego zoo! And with the aquarium its amazing. Plan on at least 3 to 4 hours of awesome entertainment.
I had never been there! Authentic "wild' feeling! Not paved like Phx zoo. Lots of beautiful birds and cute monkeys!!! Awesome Tigers too!! Ya Gotta go!!"
Too expensive for what they offer, they charge for everything they want to use inside the place, which would not be the problem if in truth the service was worth something that is not
A really fun experience with the family, just make sure to check weather. There's alot of benches to sit and trees for shade but can still get pretty warm during the afternoon! I love this zoo!
This is a work in progress. It has a lot of rescue animals and this is admirable. I am impressed with the newer side and the tram ride. The driver was amazing. However, the old side made us want to leave and call to have the place closed. Several of the large cat cages were floaded. Deplorable would best describe these animals living conditions. Tell us what to do to help them out. We made a donation but are really upset. The animals on the tram ride seemed like they were at a different zoo. Just a few photos that came out toshow goid and bad.
We are visiting from Missouri and thankfully the zoo was open :) The animals were all beautiful and looked very well taken care of. This is such a nice large zoo with plenty of things to see. I am giving it a 4 because of two things. 1 is it is sooo dusty all the paths are dirt so everywhere you go its dust dust and more dust. I don't have allergies but I definetly feel my chest heavy from the visit. 2 is all the rides and interactive activities are extra cost and soooo expensive as a family of seven there is no way we could justify 6.00 per person.
Interesting zoo like atmosphere. They also have rides, shows and spots to spend time indoor at aquarium and covered areas during an Arizona (hot) day. The white tiger was not as impressive as photos the advertise. Kids had a lot of fun.
I love everything about this zoo I love feeding the griaiffe and stingrays and the sea lion show is great I just love it I always have a awesome time here
Very disappointed. I felt the property was unkept and dirty. The smell was very bad. With as much as they charge for admission plus extra for the mediocre rides, they should spend more on the grounds and cages. This my first visit and I was looking forward to it. From all the hype they spread, the visit left me glad I will never go back there.
Love this place! I didn't realize how big this place really is. Arrived at 1030 and left around 5 and still had another section that we did not see. They are adding another 8 acres. They are limited on a few rides and exhibits during the summer months. We still enjoyed it and will be back when it's cooler.
This place is so huge plan for several hours to see everything they have! Everything was clean and easy to navigate. I suggest taking the tram ride for the upper part of the zoo. The aquarium was a nice touch to see as well!
This was our first trip. we all agreed that the aquarium was very interesting as well as well maintained. The animal enclosed were clean and the animals seemed very well taken care of. One troubling point was that the garage around the recycling and garbage bins were overflowing onto the ground took away some of the charm of this zoo.
Worth the entrance money! This place is HUGE! As I ve volunteered there many years ago, I know how well these animals are cared for! This place runs of workers and volunteers. They get top class food and care! As they have expanded you will need to plan a whole day there, as walking around and seeing these animals takes time. Most of it is flat or has wheelchair accessibility so if your disabled don t fear! You can still go here :)
Ive been going to this zoo since i was in kindergarten and ive never stopped loving it. The animals are always looking well fed and taken care of. They don't charge you extra for touching the stingrays and starfish and the animals are always close by so you get your money's worth. Recently they added a while new section to the park with new animals and rides and from what i saw it looks like they're adding more next year. I always have a good time here and everything is always calm and quiet. Please respect the rules of the park though. They're there to protect you from the wild animals and to protect the animals from you!!!
We take the out of towners here. Animals are well taken care of and this place is HUGE!! Spent half a day and didn't see it all. Bring your AAA auto card for discounts on admission
The wildlife zoo was amazing all the animals were out and about the Lions and tigers or not sleep they were actually by the gate it was fun we will be back the Griggs family
Really fun and my son loves it. However it is super expensive for a zoo, even though it's large. Everything inside costs extra and they only take cash which is kind of inconvient. Lots of animals and great for kids though!
I drove over to have dinner in the bar. Ribs were good. Team trivia was happening in the bar. I checked out the dining room as I was leaving . Fish tank is worth seeing. I saw 3 sharks and a sting ray.
This is an amazing place. Ticket prices were a bit higher than what I've paid for a zoo visit in the past, however, the wildlife zoo is much larger than most other zoos. If you have young children be sure to bring a wagon or stroller because there is a lot of walking. I did see there were strollers available for rent. The high ride (just like a ski lift) is soo much fun, it allows you to see lots of animals while you are in the air over the animals. There is an additional charge for all the rides in the park, most are $6 per person. I definitely recommend the team ride through the safari part of the park. Will have to come back to see the section of the park we didn't see as we ran out of time to see the entire park.
Always good to see the animals! The trek can be a bit dusty but thats what makes for a "wild" experience. Aquarium is so-so, the addition of the sea lions is a plus!
