If you love seeing different types of animals in natural environments, then Wildwood is the place for you.
You must go and see the Elk, such a magnificent creature and the 2 new bear cubs are definitely people pleasers.
The play park is great for the younger visitors to burn off that last bit of energy!
Ive seen reviews regarding covid and social distancing on here, I believe the park has done all it can from its side to stay within the regulations and to promote a safe visit, but they can't 'mother' all the visitors, they are grown ups responsible for their own actions
We joined as members after our first visit and will be going back very soon
Keep up the great work Wildwood

Really upsetting to see the lynx and the wolf so stressed. Constantly pacing backwards and forwards. The lynx enclosure seemed far to small. The wolf was kept alone thought they lived in packs? Even saw a red squirrel pacing. Half the enclosures were empty most of the animals looked depressed. Cafe run by kids who didn't know what they were doing and the food was tolerable at best. Defiantly somewhere I would not visit again

We went to see the rescued Eurasian Brown Bear's for a VIP experience which we were impressed with. The bears are well looked after and food is distributed around the enclosure to stimulate the bears. This was a 5 star experience.

Walking around the rest of the park however I found some of the enclosures too small. There was a beautiful large black crow near the exit in a cage which was too small with no space for it to really spread out and fly any significant distance. I think this needs to be looked at and made the experience less enjoyable.

Overall an enjoyable visit, we saw nearly all of the animals, and the staff we very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the animals. I felt some enclosures would have benefitted from being larger, but the information and signage was excellent. The cafe area and gift shop and picnic area could do with better landscaping and a spruce up.

Went to wildwood today having booked a slot. However I was shocked ! ....so many people in there! Car park packed ! On going in we showed our conformation of booking and were counted in. However in there no way could anyone social distance ! As a member I was so shocked as it was the busiest i have ever seen ! So unsafe so wrong. I get it that wildwood need to have visitors and members to keep paying to support the work they do. I get it that the income keeps it going. However if we all catch Covid virus and die there will be no wildwood ! Humans are important too ! Shame on you wildwood! So sad! We will be cancelling our standing order ! Rant over !

This is a wonderful place for the family. The keepers are all very knowledgeable and happy to answer even the strangest questions. They do invaluable work for british wildlife, have a fantastic collection of obviously well looked after animals in well thought out enclosures FOR THE ANIMALS. None of the animals are exploited, just lovely. We've been going for a few years now and have no plans to stop any time soon. A HUGE family favourite!

Could quite easily spend the whole day here. All of the animals seem well cared for, apart from one or two who look stressed but it could be mating behaviour according to the signs on display. Would highly recommend it for a couple or a small family. We've been twice now at 2 and 3pm until it closed at 6pm. I'd recommend getting there a bit earlier so you can catch all the feeds and animal talks.
Only areas that I think need improving is there are some exhibits not on the sign posts and the map may be slightly out of sync where the bees are kept

First time going today took my daughter to see Santa that part of the team was amazing couldn t fault them at all. Very helpful as my mum was in a wheelchair. We went over to the cafe and I was discrased with what I walked into, we asked if the sausage rolls was hot as they didn t look it and the women turned around and said to my mum well yeah they are hot as you can see there on a hot plate also heard her discuss how she s been working like a pig. Her customer service skills is terrible. The food wasn t edible at all looked as thought they had been there for over a week. And price they charge for the sausage rolls and cheese and onion potato pasties is terrible I wouldn t even feed that food to my dogs for scraps.

My wife arranged for the wolf experience where we were able to get up close and also feed them. It was amazing. Our keepers, Maggie and a young man (sorry we can"t remember his name), were so informative and were happy to answer all our questions. Their enthusiasm was captivating. The whole place was great and we would recommend a visit.

Had a very enjoyable day yesterday. It was wonderful to see the rescued bears in their large enclosure which had everything they could want. I would say though that it was sad to see the lone wolf pacing up and down all the time and we thought the enclosure for the Lynx was quite small for them.

It was a 3 hour drive each way to visit Wildwood from our home near Portsmouth, but well worth it. The Bears were the highlight for me, but all of the other animals and the park itself also made for a brilliant day. Lovely woods with paths and trails taking you past Wolves, Linx, Beavers and loads of others. The paths are just good enough for wheelchairs and baby buggies but you could struggle on a few patches. Nice cafe restaurant, reasonable prices for a theme park, and friendly helpful staff. Even though it was six hours of a journey I will be back 1 day. Great place, loved it.

Lovely day out with an interesting variety of animals, different to your typical zoo and plenty of well written interpretation panels. We particularly enjoyed seeing the bison, elk and brown bears and the kids loved the high rope bridge across the bear enclosure. As with all these places there is unfortunately a play area which meant that the kids pestered all afternoon to go on it but as play areas go it was pretty impressive. My reason for not giving 5 stars was that some of the animals were absent (wild horses out on loan) or not visible (wolf enclosure was being upgraded), some areas were a bit tatty (although it is a charity so understandable) and only one set of loos at the entrance (3 year old needed a wee when we were at the other side of the park!)
On the whole a very enjoyable and interesting day out with helpful, friendly staff and a healthy looking array of animals.

We saw Bison, brown bears, moose, boar, wild cats, red squirrels, beaver... Various birds and many rats. Heard a talk about some of the animals. We mainly wandered around the peaceful woodland sanctuary. One of the enclosures was being built/expanded while we were there. This demonstrated the number of people involved, needed to develop the place, and their commitment to improve the environment. Lovely touches, like 'natural' fencing and bamboo and willow woven structures add to the experience nicely.
There's a sense that you're contributing to genuinely valuable conservation work by visiting so, at half the price of Howletts, it's a fabulous day out.

Another fantastic and enjoyable visit. Social distancing and cleaning stations around to keep you safe. The Bears were all out and performing for visitors. We're members so we visit lots. Donated to fundraising for red squirrel enclosure which burnt down and the relocation of the bear cubs.

About WILDWOOD TRUST

Wildwood Trust: A Centre of Excellence for British Wildlife Conservation

Wildwood Trust is a registered charity that was established in 2002, with the aim of conserving and protecting British wildlife. The trust opened its doors to the public in 1999, and since then has been dedicated to educating people about the importance of preserving our native species.

With two wildlife parks located in Canterbury, Kent and Escot, Devon, Wildwood Trust is home to over 200 animals from past and present. Both parks are set amidst beautiful ancient woodland where visitors can see bears, wolves, bison, deer, owls, foxes, red squirrels, wild boar lynx wild horses badgers beavers plus many more.

The trust's mission is to protect Britain's natural heritage by restoring its ecosystems and reintroducing native species into their natural habitats. Wildwood Trust believes that conservation should be an active process that involves not only protecting existing habitats but also creating new ones.

One of the key ways in which Wildwood Trust achieves this goal is through its captive breeding programs. The trust breeds a range of endangered species including water voles and hazel dormice with the aim of releasing them back into their natural habitats once they are strong enough to survive on their own.

In addition to captive breeding programs Wildwood Trust also works closely with other conservation organizations such as Natural England and Forestry England on habitat restoration projects across the UK. These projects involve planting new woodlands or restoring existing ones which have been damaged by human activity or disease.

Wildlife conservation education is another important aspect of Wildwood Trust's work. The trust offers a range of educational programs for schools colleges universities community groups families individuals etc., designed to teach people about British wildlife conservation issues such as habitat loss climate change pollution hunting poaching etc., as well as how they can help protect our native species through simple actions like recycling reducing energy consumption supporting local farmers buying organic produce etc.

The trust also runs various events throughout the year including guided walks talks workshops animal encounters etc., all aimed at raising awareness about British wildlife conservation issues while providing visitors with an opportunity to get up close personal with some amazing animals!

In conclusion Wildwood Trust is a fantastic organization that plays an important role in conserving Britain's natural heritage. With its focus on captive breeding programs habitat restoration projects education initiatives it truly deserves recognition for being one of the leading centers for excellence in British wildlife conservation!
