I love this place. I am a member now because I can return as often as I wish. I take a gentle walk around the paths whilst admiring the beautiful animals which are here because they are being protected from different factors surrounding their natural habitats. There's a beautiful wooden play area for children, refreshments etc.

Massive array of British animals . Very informative staff if you had any questions about the animals. Most of the animals had obvious enrichment items in their enclosures which is fantastic zoo management. They all genuinely care about their animals and their conservation. They also offer night tours and photography classes to those interested. Entry was cheap and we will visit here again. Great for those wanting to learn all about Britains native animals.

The animals that were out and about made the day. A bit muddy in places but it is set in woodland. Most remembered to social distance, but there were one or two who thought it didn't apply to them! .

This place is nice for a walk, but not ideal for smaller children. The animals in each enclosure are so well hidden, or far back, you can't see a thing.
A lot of the enclosures during our visit were empty as well, so we didn't stay here very long at all.
I'll not be rushing back.

This is a great space, for the kids to roam and run in safety and see many animals native to the UK. Staff are often on hand to talk about the animals, with several scheduled talks throughout the day and many activities for the school holidays. They work hard to raise awareness and conservation of animals. The one less star is for the toilets and cafe which are not great, especially for the prices...We always take a picnic as there are many places to sit and tuck into your sarnie. Free parking and great playground are a huge bonus.

I was blown away by this place - I visited on a day with hideous weather but absolutely loved the experience of seeing such amazing native (or once native) animals. I learnt loads. I found the experience inspiring. Loved seeing the wolves in particular. I will visit again in better weather...

We had a lovely day here. Cafe was very reasonable and we saw lots of animals. My 3 yr old son walked the whole way round - there was so much to see. Sadly we ran out of time to try the playpark! The Bison were our faves! We will be back :-)

Great place to spend a day. If you want to see wildlife up close.spend a bit of time and be a little understanding and it will happen. Staff were nice. Prices were fair. Don't understand people's negative comments. Tip top place and animals are in the right shape.

Beautiful natural walkways with wonderful animals to see. I particularly enjoyed seeing the bears. We walked over the enclosure in the bridge and seeing them just made my day. So incredible. The only thing I would say it perhaps they could have a more stable, accessible bridge. My nan was not able to see the bears as well because of this.
The enclosures were good, the animals had space and enrichment. Some enclosures were fantastic like the bear and wolf enclosures.
It was a shame not to be able to see the bison properly but I understand the one way system meant it was logistically not possible. They did a fantastic job with the one way system.
I would have liked more information in the red squirrel walk-through, like active hours etc. Or maybe someone there talking to visitors about it, if it is possible with covid that is.

Smaller wildlife park, specialising in British native wildlife. Enclosures laid out as natural habitats. Plenty to keep the interest of the younger child. Paths can get muddy so wear suitable shoes.
Interesting, educational and fun!

So glad there are still places around like wildwood.
Small enough to avoid the world and his wife, all the animals are in fantastic enclosures with natural environments at the top of priority. Our favourite spaces are the beavers and bees at the moment, we don't just enjoy our visits we learn aswell.
Animals first tourist attraction second the way it should be. Please don't change.

Thanks for a great time as always.

We've taken a membership here today and we are so glad we have. The place is fantastic, the children's park is well maintained and tidy. Animals seem well cared for, reasonable yearly admission price. Can't wait to return!

Happy creatures, cheerful staff, good facilities and a comfortable experience in light of our new way of life. Highly recommended as a place to see the more unusual European wildlife. Loved the bears!

I like this place nice walk around as you follow the one Way system to keep every one safe during covid. Planty of animal's to see not all where out like most wildlife places. The kids will love it you can walk above the bears and look down at them. Well worth a visit and not to expensive to help protect our animal speices.

Lovely moderate sized zoo. Not too massive. Lovely natural feel and great for walking children around. The bear enclosure is fantastic and the rope bridge a genius idea. Great playpark and lovely ice creams. Better value than some of the larger local competition.

Visited with my 87 year old Mum who got around OK as the ground was dry underfoot. Saw several using a wheelchair but you need a good day for anyone with mobility problems. Wellington's for everyone if it is wet.

We did not feel impressed by staff. Not as friendly as experienced elsewhere.

My feelings about the visit are mixed. We saw many empty enclosures making us wonder if the animals really existed. We hoped for red squirrels_ otters and badgers but did not see any.

The single pole at was running around it's cage, obviously desperate to escape. However as cages go it was reasonable for the size of animal.

Nice to see Soay sheep. However the highlight of the day was the brown bears. These are rescue bears so have a better life than before.

Distance and close netting makes seeing many animals hard. I did get up on a walkway to take pictures of a fox. Was also interested to see the Scottish wildcat.

There were some parts, such as the rats and insects we did not see by choice. We saw various birds but missed the owls and all the talks.

I think if coming again I would arrive early and leave late as you would need to be patient to see all animals and cannot expect a nocturnal one to oblige midday!

The children seemed to enjoy the playground and some would love the rope bridge over the bears.

The key is to understand this is not a zoo. Prepare children saying we "might" not we will see animals.

We did not visit the cafe and my short peek into the shop did not make me want to explore.

Don't expect big and sexy. This is British wildlife, even if some of it, such as the wolves and bears, are species no longer found wild in this country. There is plenty of cover in the enclosures and the animals often choose not to show themselves so don't expect to see everything. Cafe basic and paths can get very muddy but the woodland setting is beautiful and gift shop usually good.

They have various species of animals that were once native to the UK. For example: red squirrels; wolves; wild boar; deer; beavers; otters and are introducing brown bears and Arctic foxes. There is a cafe, picnic areas and children's play area suitable for all ages (the drop slide is my favourite).

I have been a member here for 7 years, and love it! My boys a love it too, ranging from12(years)-10(months) something for all.. my older boys live animals but also love the play park.
Youngest one just stares at animals. Food is reasonable in options, prices are very reasonable, could do with second set of toilets at far end of park though.
Animals are great, all British which is lovely.

Nice environment to spend 2-3 hours with children watching animals and finishing in the children's area of slides and swings. It also has wooden tables and benches for a picnic in the shade. There are very comfortable buses from Canterbury station every 15 minutes and you arrive in 20 minutes

It is always a great day out to visit Wildwood. The staff are lovely and currently doing an amazing job with the one-way system due to COVID restrictions. The animals always look well kept and cared for which is the most important thing. A great price for all of the things you get to see in one day. Plus, unlike most zoo s all of the animals are native to the U.K. which is very important.

Although we enjoy bringing our grandchildren here and knew some changes would have been made during this pandemic at no point during entry were we told the closure time of the gift shop, this was very disappointing to our grandchildren especially as one is autistic and it caused a real problem, just maybe have signs around the park reminding people of this, we are members so would like to think we will come again many times

This place is great! There is excellent information on native wildlife and a chance to see species that most don't see often or have been extrapated from the area. There is also a great adventure playground for kids to burn off some excess energy. The membership is a great deal as well.

This was so awesome, so many different animals, activities to do, nice food in the cafe, playground I'd say good for 6-13, an epic drop slide which is great for 8-14 yr olds (and even adults too!) Lots of things to fill the day for all the family and a gift shop with epic things to buy.

About WILDWOOD TRUST

Wildwood Trust: A Centre of Excellence for British Wildlife Conservation

Wildwood Trust is a registered charity that was established in 2002, with the aim of conserving and protecting British wildlife. The trust opened its doors to the public in 1999, and since then has been dedicated to educating people about the importance of preserving our native species.

With two wildlife parks located in Canterbury, Kent and Escot, Devon, Wildwood Trust is home to over 200 animals from past and present. Both parks are set amidst beautiful ancient woodland where visitors can see bears, wolves, bison, deer, owls, foxes, red squirrels, wild boar lynx wild horses badgers beavers plus many more.

The trust's mission is to protect Britain's natural heritage by restoring its ecosystems and reintroducing native species into their natural habitats. Wildwood Trust believes that conservation should be an active process that involves not only protecting existing habitats but also creating new ones.

One of the key ways in which Wildwood Trust achieves this goal is through its captive breeding programs. The trust breeds a range of endangered species including water voles and hazel dormice with the aim of releasing them back into their natural habitats once they are strong enough to survive on their own.

In addition to captive breeding programs Wildwood Trust also works closely with other conservation organizations such as Natural England and Forestry England on habitat restoration projects across the UK. These projects involve planting new woodlands or restoring existing ones which have been damaged by human activity or disease.

Wildlife conservation education is another important aspect of Wildwood Trust's work. The trust offers a range of educational programs for schools colleges universities community groups families individuals etc., designed to teach people about British wildlife conservation issues such as habitat loss climate change pollution hunting poaching etc., as well as how they can help protect our native species through simple actions like recycling reducing energy consumption supporting local farmers buying organic produce etc.

The trust also runs various events throughout the year including guided walks talks workshops animal encounters etc., all aimed at raising awareness about British wildlife conservation issues while providing visitors with an opportunity to get up close personal with some amazing animals!

In conclusion Wildwood Trust is a fantastic organization that plays an important role in conserving Britain's natural heritage. With its focus on captive breeding programs habitat restoration projects education initiatives it truly deserves recognition for being one of the leading centers for excellence in British wildlife conservation!
