Mountain is alright but they are definitely being pretty liberal with their difficulty ratings. They also only do rentals as a package and you must pay full price even if you only need a board or skis.

Happy special new year eve ever !! It was my first learning experience. I had a learners package for 80$ including rentals( skis, poles, shoes, and helmet), lifting, and one training lesson. The trainers are amazing and I skied after one hour from the top of the beginners trail. The new year eve celebration was not well developed. However, ski in new year eve is a special moment.

This place is as fun and i would write more about this but I want to take this time to inform you all about a blond curly haired baby Older lady who works in the tubing portion who was horrible to this group of 3 people who were Indian. I walked in and saw she was not paying any attention to them and was turning her back toward them I hoped behind them in line to get a magnet and she still wouldn t turn around. I thought oh she doesn t see us so I go get her and say mam can I get a magnet please. As She goes to get it for me I said mam these guys were in front of me if you d like to care for them first. She said no I do not I ll take care of you. She said it kind of firmly and Rudley too. I was morified and turned around and said I m so sorry I said you were here first and they said it s okay and kind of shrugged like they were accustomed to this treatment. They came out behind me and proceeded to ask me all the questions you d expect the staff to answer and thanked me a ton of times. Maybe she was having a bad day but it appeared racist to me and my friend who came with me. And I fee they felt this way too.

Great place to take kids for a fun day trip. Went tubing. Great fun. Lines get long. Takes an average of about 25 minuets for a complete run. Kids went about 5 times in two hours. The earlier you go the better. Once the buses show up. The lines are really long. Staff is really nice. Have decent choice of food. Wish they had some salad choices though.

First time skiing, took advantage of the beginners package which includes rental, a lesson, and a pass for the green slopes.

Despite being President's day and naturally packed, the staff where well prepared and kept lines moving quickly so wait times throughout the process were minimal. They also had 'hosts'; staff who looked for the lost and confused folks like myself and offered a much needed (and appreciated) helping hand - like how to put on boots and where to go for my lesson.

The lesson was thorough and I felt confident to start skiing on my own after. I would suggest not making such a crowded day your first: between a full class and the crowds we were sharing the bunny slope with the lesson took some time. But the instructors remained patient and made sure everyone had the time and instruction they needed.

It's super fun especially the green run called sidewinder and the blue run called angel drop. It's also a great place for a first time lesson because all of the instructors are so nice and know what they are doing

beautiful slopes and well maintained facilities but it is insanely crowded over the weekends especially on long weekends. To run faster they have to operate with 4 passenger per lift at the beginner slopes. That is causing a lot of falls while unloading because of tangling to each other.

For ski places local to DC, this is the best. I usually go to Liberty because it's a little bit closer but the the runs and the amount of runs in the high speed chair lifts make it well worth the extra few miles from DC. I will go out on a limb and say that this is better than going to Canaan Valley for the drive Septra.

After living and skiing in Colorado, my expectations were low. My wife and I got there early Sunday to get first chair around 8am. Conditions were excellent, groomed corduroy runs were fine, actually got fresh power while we were there! It dumped about 4 inches in 3 or 4 hours. Great day! Don't expect long runs, but the place was just fine. Not enough to keep us there all day, but we got in a dozen runs in less than 2 hours, my wife got in 17 runs on her snowboard in less than 3 hours.... Nice job Whitetail........

Better Than Nothing for DC day trip. Overpriced food, no beer on weekdays, parking security guard didn't let me park in an empty parking spot because he's too cool for school. 4-hr pass vs. all-day is a mathematical joke. Free Ski/snowboard valet was great though "spicy" fries were delicious tho, same as Arby's curly fries, not spicy

Whitetail, a great ski resort for puritans and prohibitionists

This was the first ski resort my family and I ever visited. My wife made the hotel reservations and she never thought to ask if the resort sold beer. At the time, I was not a skier, but I figured it would be okay as I could have a couple of beers whilst watching my wife and daughter ski. No such luck. The resort (and the town) is dry, and apparently the locals insist on imposing their puritanical rules on everyone who comes to visit, even if they never have to interact with them. So you cannot watch the skiers whilst enjoying a beer. So I got to spend the entire day reading and watching TV in my hotel room. It was awesome - a vacation resort where I don't even have the freedoms I enjoy at home.

Needless to say, I don't intend on ever revisiting Whitetail.

Great place to ski, snowboard or go tubing. I really like that there are freestyle parks on the green and blue slopes for those who are not ready to go on a black to reach the halfpipe. The mountain hosts (guides) are super friendly and make first time visits no problem.

Fairly good skiing, although prices are too high. We had a skier get hurt and the ski patrol were very friendly and experienced. Had our day cut in half though and there was no compensation.

Great place, small but gets the job done, and a friendly and helpful staff. It is a great place to practice if you are a beginner, and hone your skills as an intermediate. They have a limited number of trails, but that is a result of location and not a lack of hard work or great service.

Went there last Thursday for their discounted learn to ski package at 49.99, and had an amazing time. Decent instructors, great mountain, good service, nice enviroment, beautiful looking place overall, nice and cozy inside with multiple fire places, even a star bucks, and plenty of slopes for first timers, beginners, intermediates and advanced. Would definitely go with here over liberty for a day trip. Have fun shredding!
