White Oak Kitchen and Cocktails Review

I went to eat here this past weekend, everything was good until we received our entrees. My husband ordered a salad and said that it smelled weird. When he looked over it he couldn't believe what he saw there was a larvae/maggot on the chicken. We were sooo shocked we just decided to leave.
The manager came over and all he said was we use the freshest ingredients so it might have got into it. But I don't believe a larvae/maggot is from being fresh. He did take it off our check. And over all i regret paying the check because i don't think i should have. I'll honestly say that the service of our waiter was really good he was really nice and handled us extremely well and it is not his fault of what had happened.

I sat at the bar, the bartender was very attentive, if a little brash in his handling of the drinks and glassware. I ordered the Blackberry sage old fashioned, a nice, but not sublime, rendition of the bourbon classic. (The bartender set it down so wildly that it splashed onto the bar. It was almost cloying, but tolerable in its balance of sweet, orange, and bourbon.) Upon my server's recommendation I ordered the celery soup, which was flavorful, but overly thick and sweet. In fact I didn't finish it for fear it would ruin my appetite. I then had the Tuna Nicoise salad, accompanied by a glass of pinot noir. The salad itself was overdressed, but otherwise flavorful and garnished with flavorful and appropriately cooked vegetables. (The tuna was perfect. ) My experience was fine, but not something I'd soon repeat.

Food was fine, service was a slow on a Sunday. Ask about your drink, they have strange standards...a Genever as their well "gin" was definitely not your typical.

Food was ok, not worth it for the price. Service was snail slow. Mixed drinks were meh. Waiter/service was below average.

Stopping in Atlanta overnight and decided to try some place close to the Hotel. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was very cool with the high ceilings and laid back feel. We had Mac and cheese for the appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. It was a smaller portion with larger noodles and perfect to prepare for an entree. I had the beef short rib which was delicious. My girlfriend had the fried chicken and similarly felt it was cooked perfectly. The concern was that these seemed to come out less than hot/fresh, 45 minutes after we received our appetizer, about 75 minutes after we came in. The old fashioneds were delicious and the rose 75? was hit or miss (the first was perfect but the second tasted different)? Overall we would certainly be back but it felt like they were short a server (waited for a second drink a bit longer than expected in addition to the food wait). Otherwise it was a great place - just wouldn t recommend if in a hurry..

Great outdoor space. They have good beer and good cocktails!

Nice place. The service was lackluster. The food was okay. We ordered the mussels, which were served lukewarm, almost cold and were too alcohol-y. The fried green tomatoes had a nice crispy coating, but needed a little more seasoning. The waiter never came back to take our entree order so, we left.

Asked to be seated outside and the hostess told us there were no tables outside when we could see two empty tables. We inquired about the empty tables and she said that all the chairs were taken for other tables, but there were four chairs at each table. She said she would look into it by talking with the other hostess and to wait at the bar. We waited at the bar and she did not go to talk to anyone. We then asked the bartender about the tables outside and she said they were open and talked to the manager who was sitting at the bar and did not get off his ass to check if there was an available table. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The appetizer came before our drinks which makes sense since it took 20 minutes to get drinks that should have taken 2 minutes to make tops. Oh and we finally were seated at one of empty tables that we had alluded to all along. And it was not a busy night. The plus side was their water service was impeccable.

First time here, and definitely will be coming back..... Server was amazing, Food was amazing, Patio dining amazing (You will for sure get a interesting view...lol)

The salad was bitter, the chicken was dry and the chocolate mousse tasted tart. Not a good meal.

Food was average and over priced. There was nothing special about the rainbow trout. It sounded amazing on the menu, but it came out with over cooked, watery veggitables. Wish I had chosen another restaurant during my stay.

Staff were kind and welcoming! We had found this place because of Opentable. It was a fantastic expirence! I suggest wearing business casual clothes however it is not needed.

Nice ambience, rooms n staff. Ambitious kitchen serving great food. Look for seafood!

It was easily one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in the Atlanta area. I went here with my wife because she had heard great things about it from her friends. At first I was hesitant because I never had been into southern cuisine. But, right when I walked through the door I knew it would be a good dining experience. We were greeted immediately by a beautiful young lady and were seated very quickly. The restaurant itself is a masterpiece. We started our night off with two of their handcrafted cocktails, which were extraordinary. Then we ordered the shrimp beignets with white BBQ sauce. After the first bite of those I knew our entrees would be even better. I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the flounder. Both of them were easily some of the best entrees I've had at a restaurant in Atlanta over the 10 years I have lived in the city. We will for sure be back. Next time we have a date night we will for sure be trying the Owner's other restaurant, Max Lagers, which is right down the street.

The grits with my fish entree were awesome. My cocktail was great too.

It looks really great. However, Everytime going here they never have a table available. Waited 30 minutes once for a table they were opening. But there was a miscommunication with the staff and they weren't setting up additional tables. It's too bad, because I've really wanted to try this place.

Strange unappetizing menu. sat at the bar and took a few minutes to get our drinks that were made and sitting at the other end of the bar. Staff wasnt to friendly or helpful.

If you can get past the host table, the food & drinks are always great.

Wanted to sit in terrace and answer few emails. But after they sold me coffee for $5, it came out that they can't let me go there as they have private party, though nobody was on the terrace.

The servers were all over the place. Went there for lunch of 2. Got there 12:00pm. Stood there 20 minutes with available tables all over the place. Had to confront the girl at the front to ask why is it taking so long just seat us. The manager came out looked at us and then walked to the back. At this point I'm totally confused. We had to ask the gentleman in the front about our seating he acted totally oblivious. We were seated wayyy in the back in the private room area. Why?? when there were available seats throughout. There were already3 parties that were seating back there with no food served. Needless to say we didn't start eating until 12:50pm. I ordered the lamb burger. It wasn't so flavorful. Will not go back to this place.

To the owner from Massachusetts - Your restaurant is terrible. Why?...Bad service and overpriced salad. Simple summation, Customer-focus: terrible . This place is a rotten egg, keep away and hold the nose.

Main: duck - overcooked (wasn't asked for my preference), no sauce, and the side was tasteless

Our lunch experience was great. Attentive service, nice decor. The menu is classic but creative. You can't go wrong with and sandwich or salad. Loved the biscuits with jam! My only minor complaint is the water pressure in the bathroom. Be prepared to be sprayed when you try to wash your hands!

Wanted dinner close to our hotel (Hilton). Used the sky bridge to walk through 2 hotels to get almost to their front door. Beautiful spot, kinda rustic, kinda hipster.... super cool. Had the blackberry sage old fashioned, WOKC chopped salad, shrimp beignets, mac + cheese, sweet potato beignets and ooey gooey butter cake. Fantastic! Will absolutely go back. PS service rocked-LaToya was on point and delightful.

Had apps and dessert and we're very happy with the food and service.

Really good food, but they should serve imported beer, too, in addition to domestic and their own. We did not try the emergency drinking beer, by the way (see picture).

We went this weekend for guys night service was slow when we said something they got hate full . And said we could always go some where else. Never got are drinks refilled.

This place seemed nice enough, but had nothing but high top tables outside. When we said it was fine to eat inside we were told: We have a policy of no service dogs inside, but we d be glad to move a table outside for you or give you a private room

Blatant discrimination against a service dog is not acceptable. We have no interest in eating at a restaurant with such practices.

We came here for lunch and loved it. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was so nice and the rest of the staff was kind and welcoming. We split some small plates which was perfect for lunch. Cocktails and whiskey flight were fun and good portions. The only thing was that the red velvet cake was super dry. Otherwise a must go. Beautiful decor as well.

The place looks amazing, the food and drinks are delicious and at affordable prices and the service is fast.

White Oak is brassiere with well prepared foods and renown cocktail menu.

There are twists to contemporary favorites and local Atlanta traditions. You'd expect lamburger, grilled trout, and an upscale fried chicken here. You'll enjoy them. There's even an homage to Anne's Snack Shop.

However, the best menu item twist for us was the cauliflower grits and etouffe'. Twas tasty indeed.

The wine, beer, and cocktail menu is nationally regarded.

Vegan and gluten free friends will need to let the staff know, but can be accommodated. Wheelchair access is easy.

The service is solid but not exceptional.

The location is great.

This place exceeded our expectations. We had Tuna Tartare (a special of the day) which was out of this world, the deviled eggs were tasty but I'm quite sure I could make those at home, the pork chop (another special) with green beans and sweet potato puree was incredible except that the pork was pretty raw around the bone and we couldn't eat the whole thing.
I had the ribeye steak with chateaubriand sauce - my oh my, that was worth every $.
Finished off our dinner with the chocolate mousse dessert which did not disappoint, but word to the wise, it's definitely rich enough to feed two or three, depending on how full you already are.
Shout out to Omar, our waiter, who gave excellent advice and made sure we were happy at all times.

Visiting from out of town. The food was good, nothing really to complain about but also nothing unique or special about it either. The service was slow.

Food in general was really good. Service was good for a Sunday night. Closed the restaurant but we didn't feel rushed to leave. Fried chicken was a definite winner. The glaze, the greens and the cornbread were all delicious. Pimento cheese app was tasty, especially with the candied bacon. The bread was a perfect complement.

Delicious food with great patio. Really like the ambiance.

Everything I have eaten here is so so so so good! I love that they open for lunch and stay open until the end of dinner, including a bar menu for that weird chunk of time between lunch and dinner. Their cocktails are amazing and give a little taste of the South. Their food has this appropriately restrained creativity to it--so that each dish is a pleasant surprise but doesn't shock you with too much novelty. Get the fried chicken!!! It isn't on the dinner menu, but it is on the all-day bar menu. Their dinner menu rotates often, so you know they are keeping things fresh over there.

This place is right across the street from The SunTrust Tower and The Hyatt Regency so convenient for conventioneers. We were able to get in fairly quick because a previous table cancelled. Lucky. Hostess and manger were awesome as well as the bus and water staff. Our waiter was a tad impatient probably because the had several large groups and busy in general. Also, I'm a bit of a picky Keto eater and there isn't much on the menu without sugar or high carbs. Pork chop was tasty but I think basted with something sweet. My colleagues enjoyed their meals. I'm giving 4 stars because the hostess and manager were great and ensured all was perfect. I understand the cocktails are great but didn't personally try any. Tastefully decorated. Enjoy.

By happenstance, I ended up having lunch and dinner the same day. Both meals were outstanding... Deviled eggs are TDF. Burger and salads in our lunch group were delicious and perfectly prepared. Steelhead trout, chopped salad, shrimp beignets, and short ribs all perfectly prepared. A downtown gem

Very creative farm to table menu. Definitely order the charcuterie platter. The drinks were equally creative.. great place for after work drinks.

Country bumpkin meets the city atmosphere with decent but expensive food. Spotty service.

The food itself, I would give 4 stars if I could. My burger had a good taste, but was underwhelming for the price. Also, the scallop appetizer was very good.

The service was excellent through about two thirds of the meal, and then our server just vanished. We spent about 15 minutes just trying to get our ticket!

The food was excellent. Very pricy for most entrees. Service was incredibly slow but staff was very friendly.

Had a couple of the cocktails, and they were both fantastic. The bartender was friendly and entertaining and he seriously knows how to make a drink.

We also had some food, the duck confit salad was excellent. The rest was pretty good as well but maybe overshadowed by the cocktails.

Had our company meeting here tonight, and we were nothing short of impressed. Everything is wonderful Chef Tim is amazing. Service was star stellar. We ordered the deviled eggs, shrimp beignets, octopus for appetizers. The steak, trout, and beef short rib for entree. Peach pie, ooey gooey butter cake, and sweet potato beignets for dessert. Sage blackberry old fashioned and moonshine margarita for drinks. We loved everything!

Short Rib was awesome along with pimento jar and a blueberry ol fashioned......the pork shank looked really good, maybe next time.

Atmosphere Put in peace with your baby. Good service. The food is delicious and you should ask for Octopus. However, the impression a little expensive.

Went for a drink and apps - drinks were delicious and the appetizers were well portioned and also quite tasty.

About the only place in downtown Atlanta you can eat that isn't a chain or a sports bar. Second time eating here and enjoyed both occasions. Octopus was tasty but the dessert was left wanting.

What a beautiful space! The food was unique and also very tasty. We were tourists with a toddler and the manager personally came over to check on us AND gave our kid free ice cream!!

Had a great time. Food was solid (wiped out the savory beignets, beet salad and short rib). Service prompt, helpful, but not intrusive. We were given little tastes of our wine options before deciding, which was a nice touch.

Tried this place based on items shown from the menu online... those options weren't on the menu anymore. The wait staff is very friendly although the "team" concept keeps them confused. The cocktails were lackluster at best. The entrees were pretty tasty but everything is overpriced. This place isn't bad but it's not the $100+ dinner for 2 place it's pretending to be.

A buzzing restaurant with good food and service. Expensive parking available nearby and no valet (at least the evening we were there)

Phenomenal! We had a whole bunch of apps including the shrimp beignets, purloo fritters, autumn soup, and the pork belly. All were delicious flavors. The monkey bread was delicious. Very strong drinks!

This is a beautiful place & the food is unbelievable. The elegant atmosphere and incredible staff made our visits here so enjoyable.

They are absolutely the best cocktail crafters I have ever had the chance to visit with and partake.

There was hardly anyone at the restaurant, and service was terrible. Food is overpriced and portions are very small

It was ok, but nothing special. Two people got the short rib, it was a bit tough and very salty. One person got scallops and liked them and the last got the trout which was fine. Poor timing of food as the meals came too quickly and they had to jam the plates on the table before people were still half done with appetizers.

Good food and service - happy to find a relatively healthy, nicer option in the sea of Hooters, steakhouses, and Hard Rock. Liked the succotash, tequila cocktail, and hash browns. Clean, large bathroom, cool welcoming ambience

Beautiful restaurant with great menu options. Swordfish and wild mushrooms were great! Great drink menu too!

I had dinner here at the bar. Fantastic food and service by the bartender, who takes time to learn and use people's first names thrpughout the service. Love the focus on local food. I had a GA Greens salad to start, and the short ribs for dinner. Outstanding. Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.

Great service but the food didn't match the atmosphere. I feel like something is missing. It was as though they were mixing fine classy dining with sports bar, but it didn't mix well.
The restaurant has so much potential and I will still try again.
