I can imagine that when this park was originally built, the staff cared about their job and everything looked great. Unfortunately, that looks like a long, long, LONG time ago!

It's hard to know where to start with this review so I'll start with the positives.

Pro's:

The parking was easy as we arrived just before opening during school holidays.

Our 6 year old boy really enjoyed it (most of the time).

The water park is great for kids which has lots of slides and A MASSIVE bucket which tips over every minute or so.

The T-Rex in the band stand was good and entertaining and the guy who was his keeper was funny and put a lot of effort in.

Con's:

Everything was run-down or broken.

The toilets looked like they had been used as a crack den previously. The men's cubicle had 3 different broken locks on it and didn't close properly so I had to stand guard for my son.

The cool sounding "Alien Blaster Arena" had approximately 10 blaster guns which fire foam balls (the same as twin lakes if you've been). 2 of these guns worked. 1 not very well. The ball transport system didn't work either so I ended up throwing balls up a level so my boy could fire a few without losing the gun to other kids.

The staff looked like they were just trying to get through the day with old, faded uniforms.

Kids were pushing in in the queues meaning I had to stand guard with my son as he's too polite to elbow kids back to their place. Some staff had no control of the kids rides but, to be fair, the parents of some less behaved children were absent so they didn't have much of a chance.

The actual rides were great for my 6 year old, but my 2 year old wasn't allowed on the few that were there so it meant we couldn't go on them as a family.

Conclusion:

All in all it was an OK day. As I say, my 6 year old enjoyed it as he doesn't tend to see the negatives that haunt you as an adult. He just cracked on with the day and made the most of it.

My wife and I have said that we won't be going back again but I wouldn't advise anyone not to go, just...don't get your hopes up that it'll be lovely, because it won't!

Brilliant venue. Aimed at the 12 and under age group but fun for all the family. Great water park for hot days. Petting farm and an assortment of different play areas. Well worth a visit. We will definitely be going back

Brilliant day for the kids. So much to do, you can spend the whole day here and the kids will be entertained. Make sure you take hand sanitizer as there are animals there that you can freely feed. Not too far out of Nottingham, easy drive. Take a packed lunch if you don't want to be eating bad food all day. Also, socks are needed for the indoor play areas. Helpful staff. We really enjoyed it. I would take the kids again 100%.

Fantastic day out. We had a 4 year old and a 7 year old. Loads to do. We were there until closing and still hadn't done everything. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again. The website and pictures don't do it justice.

we love this place. Been going for last 5 years or so. it's evolved into a really nice place for the kids to run about in that time. They've a brilliant water park. A new huge wooden outdoor play area then there's all the indoor soft play areas and the animals. I think it's fair to say it caters for ages up to 12ish plenty of space and tables for your picnic. you'll be disappointed if your thinking Alton towers but I'd still say it's worth a visit.

Excellent experience, recommend definately going during the week as its quite empty and still an enjoyable day. Would recommend having more staff on to cater all the rides and areas as a few times we had to go dear ching to get a ride turned on. However the staff were very easy going and good to us while we were there. Definately recommend :)

My Little Boy Absolutely Loves Wheelgate Park.

My Little Boy Absolutely Loves Wheelgate Park.
I have him 3 weekends out of four and have purchased their annual pass as it is amazing value for money. Now whenever we are at a loose end, we have somewhere to go.
It's not the worlds greatest theme park by a long shot, it is slightly tired, but in my opinion, it just adds to the charm. And to be fair, they keep adding new attractions. The latest, being a fantastic adventure playground.
The water park is amazing in the summer.
Me and my Boy Love this Place!

Plenty for kids to do - up to age 10 ish (Height restrictions on some bits). 2 indoor play areas so ok if it rains but does get very busy.
Toilets near entrance leave a lot to be desired - better ones in Pharoah land.

Went for the boys birthday and he loved it, will definitely be getting a season pass (though I'd recommend bringing a picnic as the food and drink is very overpriced especially for whats on offer)

Look forward to going back

Fantastic family day out and our Grandson had an amazing time. If you go on a hot day, make sure to be wearing swim wear! Lots of picnic areas, activities for both youngsters and older kids (teens). Very reasonably priced and worth every penny!

Been today and found the park is starting to look rather run down and tired. The train is still not working, as well as the trampolines now. Only 3 inflatables being used on the water ride during the busy school holidays and part of the wooden edges cracked and hanging in the water. Crazy golf very tatty, cracked and have holes in it. Toilets needed tidying and a bit of a clean round. All in all its really in need of a facelift.

food court not clean, we had to baby wipe the tables three times and dry them as they were filthy, to our own food and glad we did as the food there was not very appealing.

as others have said it's dated and some rides were closed. although there was a lot for the kids to do, and they had a good time which is the main thing.

no staff at the zoo so had to report an escaped peacock to a girl at the sweet stall, who didn't really seem to care and there wad not a quick response. animal enclosures looked small and baron, but there was a nice bud of prey show.

it was a nice day, the small incidents just kind of took your mind off having as good a time as you could.

I love this place and it makes for a great day out with little children. Sure, if I wanted to nitpick as others have done, then there are plenty of things you could mention. However, it is ridiculously cheap and offers exceptional value for More

This is nice little rheme park, which is the smaller version of twin lakes in Melton Mowbray. Its catered more for younger kids (under eight) but there is some things for older children. Social distancing is adhered to amd all the rides are cleaned before use. However, this does slow things down. The water park was the best bit for the kids so you need to pick the right day. In the current heatwave it would definitely be the right choice.

Would be better if there was a cash machine, also a ranger was told about two boys throwing balls from the upper floor in the alien galaxy area but decided not to say anything until my daugjter who was close to her threw one back. I was not impressed by this as it was obvious that she couldn't be bothered to get up off her seat to go up stairs and tell these boys not to. My daughter was half the age of the boys so.was just following suit

I have a 4 year old and for he s age and older there is so so much to do at Wheelgate Park. From animals, to a big splash area with 3 or more slides, to soft play, to mini golf, to rides you can certainly make a day of it here and so reasonably priced. My first visit I had no complaints and on my second only 1 minor complaint to make about the man who ha does to birds he was very very blunt wasn t willing to tell us any information about the beautiful big hawk he was holding just brushed us off when we asked anything and ended up walking away!! We was the told sorry about him he s had a long day (it is he s job!!!!!) and we are paying customers!!

Had annual passes for a few years now. Def worth the money if you in the Nottinghamshire area. Indoor play centers are massive. They have a new water park area and outside play area too. Lots to do and explore.

I want to like it but I cant. Bins overflowing and not enough staff to run the rides that are open. We paid full price but open rides weren't all operating due to the staffing. The staff that are here are lovely and working their socks off.
