The tea room has reopened and we tried it. They were out of many of the menu items, at least the first three we wanted. Finally, we ordered soup and a dessert. After the soup the waiter came up and asked what else we wanted. We repeated the dessert order for cake and coffee, and 30 minutes later, he was nowhere to be found and no dessert. We asked a woman, who was very surprised. Went to pay at the register, and the person there, possibly in charge was "surprised", but we paid for the soup and left. I've never seen anything so poorly organized, but I suppose it's early days.

My go-to place for English books in Paris! They have a strong selection and helpful staff to guide you.
They also have a small selection of food staples from the UK and US for those far from home and in need of comfort food.

Monday, January 22, 2018: poor reception, both at the bookstore and at the tea room (grumpy saleswoman, not very available, and waitress so cossard that I ended up leaving without ordering). This makes you want to go to another English bookstore (near Notre-Dame) or to order books on better-attended sites. For the tea room, I recommend the one just behind the English bookstore near Notre-Dame. Anyway, WHSmith has chosen to limit the literature department (deletion of 2 pieces) to bet on the restoration, probably more profitable. No wonder readers are turning to online sites.

Faithful customer because this English bookstore and International Press in Paris is hyper developed and diversified. The welcome is nice, peaceful. The staff having a sense of human contact irreproachable. The space is charming with its British look, sparkling and unique in Paris.

An address of choice to find your books in English of all kinds. Very wide choice of references but also the possibility of ordering. And are also available, among others, for sale of international magazines. A reference in Paris.

Excellent English bookstore, well located and charming. On the other hand, it is regrettable not being able to have access online to their catalog. Their website deserves to be rejuvenated.

Current Notice:

Current Notice:
The tea room space is a bit too quirky for my taste. It sorely lacks a British spirit for the decoration. I don't travel! I had come for this. Isn't it the concept of a restaurant (tea room ...) of foreign origin to make travel to the said country?
However:
The iced tea was divine,
cakes too.
On this point, it deserves the trip precisely.
Especially since you may well be of a different opinion from mine as to the place. :-)

Previous notice:
It is very clearly disappointing. One bank holiday on May 10, my friend and I were happy to go and test the quality of their tea room. Selected cookies and British teas, the assurance of a good time, we thought. Not at all. Huge disappointment.

The tea room is a hidden space at the end of the 1st floor, accessible only by bypassing the sales areas of this packed-items bookstore. It is more or less the obligation to pass as close as possible to the displays of pens etc.

And again, you have to look for the door that seems hidden, like Harry Potter when the wizards go to their boarding school, and have to change world, ie go from the world of common people to that of wizards, to access the station.

And there pshiiittt is the drama.
We find the door closed.
It's closed.
At the time, I did not pay attention to the reason given. However, I keep in mind that the explanation provided seemed ridiculous.
In short, no need to confirm at this stage that we were very disappointed.
An international bookstore, a stone's throw from the Louvre, the Jeu de Paume, the Orangery Museum, the Tuileries Garden, the Place de la Concorde ... closed on a public holiday?
What about the opinion of tourists, who may, for want of being English, be of another nationality, if only French!

An impressive selection of English books and international magazines, but quite pricey compared to other stores selling English books in Paris (f.ex. Gibert Joseph). Don't miss out on the nice tea room upstairs!

Bookstore and English newspaper kiosk (the kiosk allows you to buy Mad Magazine for example), but also a small grocery store, including fresh produce that is complementary to Marks & Spencer (but with high prices).
Small items, board games, cards ... make good last-minute gift ideas when buying online is not an option.

A nice bookstore for many things, magazines, books for kids, adults, politics, biographies ...etc in addition to nice collection of gifts and stationery. Also sells some groceries. Some of the staff though need to be more friendly. The Twinings tearoom is a nice place to quick bite.

Good bookshop with helpful attendants and some great deals! It's not a huge bookstore but it's got most of the books that you'd find advertised everywhere. It has a set of regulars and I can't say it's crowded but it does get a bit populated at times. This is probably owing to its being the only bookstore in that lane. It's efficient and convenient and you'll most likely find what you're looking for or at least something good to read.

Bad organization / management but tea and delicious cakes! We were asked several times to return our teapots or strainers because the staff lacked equipment ... More than 50% of green teas were out of stock ... Considering the price (9 euros the cake share, ditto for the teapot), it seems easy to have a stock of crockery consequent ...?!), nice place but a little noisy. Service fast and smiling, despite the bad organization.

It's nice to find yourself in a British atmosphere while being in Paris.
A wide choice of books in English but also magazines and mugs.
A few Harry Potter gifts upstairs.
Finally the LOCHCARRON scarves upstairs are pretty, warm and made in Scotland.

The welcome is nice, the place too, even if it is sometimes a little hot upstairs ... We can go for last minute races, but if we have time, as much as order his books in English on Amazon, a lot cheaper. English books are expensive (as in all bookstores, that said)!

Very nice bookshop specializing in English literature. I went there to buy a book that was no longer available. (due to high demand). But very well organized and very good for book lovers who would like to cultivate their love for the language of Shakespeare with books of all kinds and for all tastes.

A wide choice whether in books or magazines. However, I find the rates rather high. This may be due to the pound exchange rate. The building is also worth a look with its stained glass windows and some bas-reliefs still visible.

WH Smith is one of my favourite English shops in Paris!
Many books, magazines and food from the English-speaking world are available.
You can easily order items with a simple phone call.
The atmosphere of the shop is very nice too.

WH Smith is a store of english language materials. This includes books, magazines, records, videos, games, calendars and more. Inside is also a small cafe - think English Tea but also including French items (like expresso). Hope to make a second stop this week and include the cafe.
