Welcomed in a friendly manner but felt most reception staff were quite offhand after this.
Ordered a paper for each morning which was noted. 1st morning collected one from reception and mentioned it was not delivered but did not arrive on the subsequent days. We were not charged for it.
Breakfast and staff were good.
Dinner menu uninspiring so dined out.
Overall ok but felt the photos online gave a false impression of style and smartness.

This feels like a tired motel. The room was small and basic, but generally clean. The hallway narrow and slightly dingy. There were basic amenities in the bathroom: soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The staff was friendly but there was no concierge service of any kind (I asked them to help book a restaurant: they dialed the restaurant and handed the phone to me). Basically, it feels like the kind of hotel good enough for a government worker to get a night's sleep and some work done without anyone accusing him/her of wasting taxpayer's money on anything approaching comfort. If I had a choice of hotels in Wellington, I would not pick this one.

Parking very expensive for one night. No air conditioning. No or little soundproofing. Room equipment outdated but extremely well positioned to compensate. Good for a night but that's it.

Nice cosy accommodation, well presented rooms. Friendly helpful staff available 24/7. Close to the city centre, shops and other amenities. Room service available, restaurant and bar within the hotel.

The location great, the staff super friendly and helpful, the room a bit small but clean, and breakfast was nice. But it was SUPER HOT in the rooms. We had the windows open and two fans going and still it was hot as. The curtains were left open by room service so the sun would come in and make it even hotter. Do not stay there in the summer! For winter its a great hotel I would say. West plaza invest in AC!

Excellent location..decent checkin and checkout. The room floor corridor feels like hostel dormitory..needs refurbishment. Rooms are adequate for the price but need to improve on look and feel for a 4 star.

Old hotel with very little noise insulation. Shower only no bath, shower sprays toilet. It is, however, in a good location and close to everything and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed a short stay here. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were nice. It s also conveniently located to Te Papa and surrounds. The hotel provided a portacot for my baby too.

Great hotel if you enjoyed the 90s. The rooms have no air con, literally everyone on the floor had their doors open so walking on the corridor felt like an awkward stroll towards your little sauna room. The walls looked painted over, there was only a fan in the room for ventilation as the windows open for 5cm, and get this: you get to pay for internet! Let me say that again: YOU PAY FOR INTERNET. We re in 2017, this four (lol) star hotel is in 1997.

The hotel is clean and well located. Parking could be free for guests and breakfast is in need of improvement. There is almost only hot food or just sweet spreads and muesli / cornflakes. Bread only on demand and that is just, like almost everywhere in New Zealand, inferior white bread. No further selection. There is no cheese and sausage. Brief statement: "We don't have that". Actually, it should be a matter of course for the catering trade, especially from a certain class, to offer the guest the most comprehensive service possible. Ideally, no extra costs. European hotels understand this. In New Zealand, it doesn't seem to be necessary.

Great location very central to almost everything in Wellington cbd. Rooms, are relatively small and parking is limited and tight for large vehicles. But value for money equation is good. Very satisfied with our stay.

We stayed Sunday night and arrived late to a lovely welcoming from reception. Our room was clean, the bed amazing and perfect temperature. Nice to have decent pillows and not the huge puffed up ones. Very central for us to wander around wellington and we are 60, not spring chickens. They happily booked our taxi to airport and minded our luggage while we were out. Breakfast was lovely and included in price. Service was excellent. Only complaint would be l got the last of the coffee and it was sooo strong and overcooked. Maybe keep an eye on the coffee pot. Would highly recommend this hotel. We will be going back here again.

I always love this place and stay often on my Wellington visits. First of all, you can not beat the location, smack bang in the middle of the city.
Rooms in the main wing are nice (would advise staying in the main wings).
They have there own bar and there are no lack of bars and restaurants around.
Great food from the restaurant and all staff have bee. Greatly accommodating over the past few years.

This is a large hotel.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable.
There is a nice lounge area with a bar.
There is a restaurant that offers breakfast and dinner.
There is no hotel gym however you can go to Les Mills.
There is car parking on a first in first served basis.
This hotel is extremely central, it's within walking distance to cafe's, bars, restaurants, cinemas and public transport. Te Papa is also close by.

Hotel staff are polite however don't expect extremely good outstanding service.

The showers are quite low so keep this in mind if you are tall.

We chose to walk to a cafe for breakfast rather then have it at the hotel.

There is no reward program when you stay here often.

The building is quite old however they have done their best to keep it to a good standard.

This would be a good place to stay if you are visiting for business.

One thing that did bother me was that there is no power point by a mirror. This makes using a hair dryer or straighteners difficult. There is a power point in the bathroom for shavers only.

We dropped off a boat for the Picton ferry in Wellington and chose to stay at the West Plaza hotel. Great place to stay, affordable room rate, parking which is plus for us and a spacious room. Everything works, TV channels are where they are meant to be, a desk and chair to do some work. The restaurant menu has a a good selection and I was happy to see a vegetarian meal. Chris on the desk and Luke in the restaurant represented the West Plaza well. We will be back.

Good central location. Reception staff friendly. Communal area for TV, and bar for drinks and breakfast. Room comfortable, nothing exceptional, and nothing wrong with it. Nice touch having a cookie left in room. Would stay again

Nicely appointed rooms- my one had opening windows for fresh Wellington air. The central location was perfect for our two day conference with lots of cool cafes and eateries nearby. The staff were very supportive despite the technology issues we experienced at times.
The set menus at West Plaza had a variety of the typical cooked vegetables and meats offered by hotels but also had delicious fresh salads and fruits. #veganfriendly!

We had a birthday party there for grandad s 90th great venue friendly staff(liv)good food really tastey comfortable beds easy to find the rooms right in the heart of the city I would love to go back and stay again nice easy access from the street shot Wellington tepapa is just down the road .definitely worth a stay and look.

We stayed here for one night and booked a twin plus single room. The room itself is dark and gloomy, there are light sockets with no bulbs in them, everything is in strange places e.g the closet it in the middle of the room. The bathroom is very old the shower has a curtain and it has a old fashioned dial to change the temperature. The hotel itself looks quite old it is dark and it is not very nice. I would not recommend it to anyone. They also charged us $25 a night for PARKING! Which you only find out when you have place your booking.

Was there for a workshop and they came around offering coffees without mentioning that everyone was expected to pay full price for them - pretty misleading especially since we had been there a few times and everyone assumed it was just a nice gesture they were offering!

This place does not have "free wifi". You get 300mb with the room but that is nowhere near enough for 1 day. Extra mb are expensive. Not considered free if you ask me. Cafes have more than that.

This was my home away from home when I traveled for work
Many staff I've met with who greeted me as one of the family
Julie was the manager at the time and initiated the revamping of the foyer and dining area
I've also made friends with other professionals who also travelled alot.
I will always hold West Plaza in high regard
I'm not sure what it's like now but my memories of this hotel are good ones

fantastic hotel with clean and very stylish rooms, the staff were very helpful with recommendations of things to do around wellington. such a shame that my stay was only a short one but sometimes shorter is sweeter. will be returning upon my subsequent visits to the capital

I booked a room here through booking.com . There is no parking as advertised. When i mentioned this to staff they seemed quite disgruntled that i would question this. They then charged me $25 to park in their carpark after telling me it was full and that it was first come first served? Anything longer than a mini will struggle to get parked. Most of the spaces were taken up with off cuts and building materials left over from their refurb.
Most of the staff I spoke to were unfriendly, except the night porter, who was only too happy to help and seemed to be the one doing all the work.
The place is a maze and i would recommend gps to find your room. The room was clean but the bathroom seemed like an afterthought!.Knocked up in about five minutes with no thought as to where the water might end up. A trip to the bathroom required footwear .
Overall, a below average stay, definitely the last time at West Plaza Hotel for me.

Ok
