The enclosures are far too small, especially for the cheetahs who are often just moping around starting to look depressed.

Big walk for little legs.
Saw plenty of the animals. Loved it.
Egor is very fond of penguins, but he was not there: (the searches continue
Wellington Zoo is a great zoo and very close to the city. At the top of the zoo, you can see great views of the surrounding areas as well as the great selection of animals in the zoo. I recently was part of a school group who went to the zoo for a school trip which included a night at the zoo along with a behind the scenes tour which was very good. Overall Recommend.
An emu swallowed a plastic cap! They couldn't get it out! And the spaces are very small.
An excellent range of animals generally minding their own business.
We had a lot of fun here. If there are animals you really want to see, be sure to check the times of talks and feeding. Not only are the talks interesting, but you're most likely to get to see the animals then. Some of them are really good at hiding. Be prepared for lots of uphill walking!
I give them 2 stars because I didn't see much of the animals when we went there maybe because it's lunch time I don't know.
Great facilities for animals and the space is fantastic to visit.
Did like 5 loops just to make sure we saw everything! Some great little spots to sit and have a drink and snack. Loved it!!
Love this place all the monkeys are just so cute. And the giraffes are absolutely beautiful. Get up close to the kiwis as well awesome.
A bit expensive but worth it because they contribute to conservation
Love this zoo. Lots of animals and they all seem well cared for. Keepers and informative and happy to interact with the public
Great fun for all the family. The newly developed lower section is excellent and worth checking out for those who haven't visited for a while.
Great for tourists, and people that live here. Make sure to check the website to see what events are available!
Love this place, it was so lovely. Would recommend it to anyone that visits NZ. Thanks for your beautiful hospitality. Will be back.
Lots of seemingly empty enclosures. The highlight? 2 people pruning bamboo in the tiger enclosure
Supper cool and staff are friendly would recommend taking your own food as the zoo cafe/grazing yard dosent offer alot.
It was really good.the whole family were entertained for 3 hours.
Just so happened we turned up on a nice day.
Took my daughter for a red panda experience for her birthday she enjoyed it and the zoo helpers are all lovely
It's always a great day when visiting Wellington Zoo!
Paid $27.00 each for 3 of us and didnt see much of the animals which was a disappointment but was good for first visit
Was a good day out. But a shame the tigers were not out.
Great space to visit. Its a real shame they don't maintain any hygiene standards at the "Grazing Post". All the table tops hadn't been cleaned with dried liquids that had been spilt, bits of food, spilt milkshake on the floor, rubbish lying around your feet and no one was interested in cleaning the area. My partner alerted the staff about the issue and was offered a cloth to clean with? We stopped by after walking around the Zoo for 3 hours and the mess and milkshake were still untouched. Disgusting!!! Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars
Best zoo I've ever been to! Especially with a toddler it's definitely worth a visit
Love the gardens, animals and the friendly and enthusiastic staff.
We love this zoo! We are here weekly. It's really small and the perfect size for children. The animals are loved and very well cared for and there are great play areas for the kids. Adults love the zoo too! There is a big hill though but it's not too noticeable because of all the things to look at along the way.
Lots going on. Lots of changes for the better happening. Missed seeing some of the animals, due to the renovations, but will go again.
Cafe food and coffee was great. Good, friendly service too.
Fantastic for all the family. They have really done well in modernising the place and keeping it interesting for kids.
Great zoo! Australian walkabout and veterinarian viewing was wonderful!
Awesome zoo. What a lot of improvements have been made to the zoo over the past nine years. Visit here at least once a year. Never disappointed.
Natural enclosures and lots of information and presentations during the day. Beautiful grounds, a really good zoo, definitely check it out if you are in Wellington
Me and my wife love going there, love the animals and food plus staff are great
Great place to spend an afternoon or even a whole day
Great zoo, glad to hear that although its an attraction on a rainy day the animals comfort and well being comes first. Map was useful and enjoyed our time!
Pretty average as zoos go, but seeing kiwis was definitely the highlight of the trip
Great place to visit. Very informative and family friendly.
Only dowfull was the change in menu at the cafe at1130. Why not do the full menu all day.
Last time I was here. I was only a kid. I haven't been here since then. Because of my arachnophobia: Fear of spiders and other insects related to the spider family.
Zoo concept and plan are excellent.. There were children playground, sitting area and canteen to take a rest for a while. Different theme for spot like Superhero HQ, conservation corner, and Neighbours animals..
Talk to animals is a awesome concept in wellington Zoo. You really feel that
Fantastic loved seeing the blue being fed and the giraffes were stunning and finished this visit watching the Red pandas having tea
Food cafes not that great. Best to take your own food. Can be a bit hilly for some to walk but our family enjoyed it. Good family activity! We appreciate the zoo workers who are to talk to you about the animals. Very interesting.
Such an awesome experience with the giraffes! The kids are talking about it 2 months on - and she's only 2 herself!!
Excellent zoo with super friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great zoo. Check out the feeding times they are a must see.
Although the Zoo is somewhat "small" there are many animals to see, very nice to visit :)
It was really nice with great informative sessions.
Enjoyable outing but some of the animals couldn't be spotted as it was near 1pm and it was quite warm so assumed they were resting in the shade.
From the time you enter into the entrance till the time you leave we all including a 6yr, 7yr & 8yr girls, went from adventure to adventure seeing amazing animals in stunning settings set in landscaped gardens. The Zookeeping team were so friendly, its worth going to all the talks planned, the girls were able to get up close to the animals and learnt so much more. We are looking to staying overnight at the Zoo, they can email you the details, I haven't been to Wgtn Zoo for years, and still telling everyone about it!!
Perfect place to take the kids! They can see the animals, play around. Absolutely love it
Its Cool just had to wait a very long time to get served could do with another kiosk to lighten the load on the poor girls in the middle cafe chur
A great zoo with lots of interactive activities for children.
Nice to see some animals that you would not necessarily see anywhere else... I think the zoo would be much better if there was a lot more interaction like what you see at staglands.
Be a great place to bring kids for education and a fun day out
Great afternoon though the Wellington wind didn't disappoint. Susie section was the best
Well designed, shaped and cared for, but too many distracting signs
