Not only for kids! Loved seeing all the animals. Follow the Keepers when they do their talks. One warning, the Zoo is built on hills so some steep paths involved, get a cardio workout at the same time. LoL

Nice little zoo in the wellington suburbs. Not huge so pretty easy to navigate and get around. Can be steep in areas. Covered areas for eating as well as a cafe near the entrance, some items quite expensive. Good educational resources. There's also a gift shop.

Lovely

A mixed bag.
The animals are impressive, but half the time they cannot be seen.
For what you pay, I'm not sure it's worth admission, unless you want to see a tiger's bum far away shrouded in the dark trees.
For specific reasons (Photographing animals for reference for intaglio drypoint printmaking), I go there every now and then. Of particular interest are the chimpanzees, which are such remarkable creatures.
Recommended I suppose.

Very nice and happy Animals are kept nicely and all kinds of safety measures are followed to ensure the visitors' safety. Animals are fed and treated medically by professionals. Nice natural environment with nice weather. Many treas make it enjoyable for those animals.

I really enjoyed seeing all wild animals! My favorite animals to see would have to be the ostrich, giraffes, cheetahs, the Tigers and of course our very own iconic kiwi! It was a shame the Lions weren't there to see at that time. But I really feel quite sorry for the animals, i especially felt for the tiger because I can just see his distress when in his cage (prison) when you look at it this way, i just feel like they are like an innocent human locked in a prison for a crime they did not commit! Just my opinion and review on my experience at the zoo.

A really nicely designed zoo, with a large variety of animals and a nice gift shop too! Perfect place to see a few Kiwis in New Zealand if you're not going to Rotorua (Rainbow Springs/Te Puia) or a dedicated Kiwi walk. Really enjoyed the Australian walkabout section, getting up close to the Kangaroos. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Wellington. Probably the best zoo in New Zealand - sorry Auckland!
