Loved it. Great day out, go early if u going by private vehicle on school holidays coz its hard to find parking orelse public transport is the best. Lots to see. Kids love it. Perfect for the whole family. Take some snacks and have a little picnic as u will find lot of seating places.
Perfect sized zoo to spend two or three hours mooching around. Great enclosures and the emu was awesome!
Not only for kids! Loved seeing all the animals. Follow the Keepers when they do their talks. One warning, the Zoo is built on hills so some steep paths involved, get a cardio workout at the same time. LoL
Nice little zoo in the wellington suburbs. Not huge so pretty easy to navigate and get around. Can be steep in areas. Covered areas for eating as well as a cafe near the entrance, some items quite expensive. Good educational resources. There's also a gift shop.
Unfortunately, not all animals were seen (in hiding or in their housing). Still a great place for families to go to.
Wow fantastic. Went on a School outing to ask questions. Zoo keeps were amazing. So full of Knowledge. Many thanks
Haven't been in about 10 years, much improved since last in the country. Nice enclosures and facilities.
What's not to love? Friendly and helpful staff. Love everything apart from the huge spider statue! Great family day out or school trip ..
A mixed bag.
The animals are impressive, but half the time they cannot be seen.
For what you pay, I'm not sure it's worth admission, unless you want to see a tiger's bum far away shrouded in the dark trees.
For specific reasons (Photographing animals for reference for intaglio drypoint printmaking), I go there every now and then. Of particular interest are the chimpanzees, which are such remarkable creatures.
Recommended I suppose.
Great place very enjoyable and could spend whole day there
Majority of the animals were kept in storage this day.
Very nice and happy Animals are kept nicely and all kinds of safety measures are followed to ensure the visitors' safety. Animals are fed and treated medically by professionals. Nice natural environment with nice weather. Many treas make it enjoyable for those animals.
Me and my kids have lots of fun, it is beautiful place
Fabulous day. Great activities conservation weekend.
I really enjoyed seeing all wild animals! My favorite animals to see would have to be the ostrich, giraffes, cheetahs, the Tigers and of course our very own iconic kiwi! It was a shame the Lions weren't there to see at that time. But I really feel quite sorry for the animals, i especially felt for the tiger because I can just see his distress when in his cage (prison) when you look at it this way, i just feel like they are like an innocent human locked in a prison for a crime they did not commit! Just my opinion and review on my experience at the zoo.
Not even a light rainy day is capable of ruining the experience. Most of the animal's locations have an adequate viewing spot. My family and I unquestionably will come back again.
A really nicely designed zoo, with a large variety of animals and a nice gift shop too! Perfect place to see a few Kiwis in New Zealand if you're not going to Rotorua (Rainbow Springs/Te Puia) or a dedicated Kiwi walk. Really enjoyed the Australian walkabout section, getting up close to the Kangaroos. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Wellington. Probably the best zoo in New Zealand - sorry Auckland!
Lacks the variety of larger zoos and it's a steep climb through the zoo, but there's a good chimp enclosure and a chance to see New Zealand birdlife.
Small but nice ! Was fun! Plus great views of the city
