A wonderful place to see, inspiring and invigorating.
A wonderful place to see, inspiring and invigorating.
Fabulous experience. I have read a lot about Walt Disney but the special exhibit was full of new (to me) information.
You can understand the life of Walt and the history of production. Mikki's special exhibition must also be seen.
It may be a little difficult for people who are not good at English.
Awesome place to learn about Walt Disney, even though it's not Disney World. I enjoyed the gallery, the art and the history. I will definatley return.
We had some downtime on a trip to SF last weekend. We had done a lot of the "touristy" stuff one does there and we stumbled upon the Walt Disney Family Museum. We didn't expect much but were totally surprised at how great it was...at least if you enjoy Disney history. I'm not sure this is a place I'd bring young children as it would likely be boring for anyone under the age of 10 or 12. We really loved the chronological way the museum is laid out culminating in an amazing, detailed model of Disneyland showing all the attractions that Walt had a hand in. What a great find!
A must do for everyone who loves Disney. We are members and go often!
Look this place. We spent about 3 hours there. There was so much to see. Very interesting.
This place is worth a visit if you are a big fan of Walt Disney. Learn more about History of Walt Disney brand, Walt and his family. I grew up watching his company animation so it's a really meaningful to know more about the background. But the ticket is quite expensive thou.
Very interesting museum on the life of Walt Disney from the history of his family and his childhood to his success and his disappearance. It offers many multimedia and wonderful designs for a journey into the world of Disney. The museum is also located in the beautiful area of the San Francisco garrison with a beautiful view of the Golden Gate.
This is a wonderful tribute to Walt Disney. It has been put together with the care and quality by the loving Disney family and does a finominal job telling his story. We had an hour and a half in the main museum before they closed and wished we had twice that long, missed a lot because we had to hurry through the second half. Its worth the cost as long as you have 2 to 3 hours.
kinda good place. But it's not worth 20 bucks to spend like an hour in it.
Amazing! A Must! It's a very interesting museum, large and has a lot of different galleries.
Great spot in the city to visit and explore nearby meadows
Obsessed with this place, annually visit from NYC to see what their new featured exhibit is, but keep rediscovering things in the permanent exhibit.
Hire a docent! I don t recall how much they charge but Kate did a phenomenal job on our tour. I think it you may enjoy the museum if you understand it is about Walt Disney s life, not necessarily about Disney itself. However, clearly lots of the Disney story is told and was great to hear the many successes and failures you may not know or remember.
First class museum. We enjoyed every minute. Thank you!
A very pleasant museum. It contains many key objects from the life of Walt Disney. Interactivity present with many projectors and screens making the museum alive.
Always worth a trip. The main exhibit is wonderful... especially the room dedicated to Disneyland. But make sure to check out the (ever changing) new exhibits! I have seen nearly all of them... and always leave with a greater appreciation for Walt and his legacy. Whenever I am missing Disneyland, I make a quick trip to the museum and soak in all of the magic they have to offer.
Great muesum loved the scale model of Disneyland way back in the day loved it
Wonderful Place Too Visit Tells The Life Story of My Hero The Best Museum in The USA I Recommend You Visit This Place I Give it One Billion Stars
Awesome concept. We loved learning about Walt s life and the stories behind our favorite movies. So much history and astounding talent showcased at this museum!
A wonderful chronicle of an extraordinary life. Must visit.
Good museum the extra 5 per ticket was kinda of a waste of cash for 9 old men I paid extra to have a guard watch me like I'm gonna run out with a artpiece in old men exisibit Lil racist. Ya think. Overall the main museum was good and worth the trip from sacramento. It should be cheaper for people who can learn about Walt Disney. Not 25 bucks a adult. Honor the man ya know
I was impressed. The bond between Walt Disney and the Disney character is transmitted. If you like Disney a little, you should go.
Excellent museum-especially for families with kids and/or Disney/animation fans although there is quite a decent amount of reading so it may bore then out. This museum is big and has many different sections to it.
There are so many things to see here it hard to say what is my favorite, if you like Disney this is not to be missed when in SF
After you visit here you are going to feel like you know Walt Disney as well as your own grandpa, maybe better.
My wife and I really enjoyed it. A great Iook at Walt and his family. I would however caution bring small children. The families we saw with children there, the children got bored easily.
Those who like Disney must visit, the content on display is quite good, and there are free guided tours to let people know more about the development of Disney
Cool little Disney museum for fans of all ages. My wife loved it (we don't have kids).
Great museum and well maintained! Absolutely willing to come back for the second time. The food in the cafeteria were not good and the cashier was not friendly.
It was my first time. Learned so much about Walt Disney.
I really enjoyed wandering through both the Mickey mouse special exhibit and the main rooms in the other building. I do wonder if the people are trained to be infinitely polite and smiley though... It was worth the time and the cash. The are accessible restrooms and the entire exhibit is accessible with ramps and elevators.
Had a wonderful experience here! I learned so much more about Walt Disney. It shows a huge appreciation to all that he did besides creating a fun park for all. I am so glad I went! I wouldn't recommend this for small children. They might get bored.
Most amazing Museum, it is not Disneyland, it is the history that made Disneyland.
Great place to gain perspective on Walt and his extended family. Very informative. Enjoy Presidio views after your visit. Reasonable parking. If you are 55 to 65 will bring back great memories.
It is a great place for the young and old. The history of Disney with interactive exhibits makes for a wonderful experience
It is a good place to visit with some time. Admission is $ 25.
It was a good experience to understand WD's life and work!
this museum is for Walt the man, not Disney the company or their/his creations. youll learn much about him and his family
Way bigger than expected and very interesting! A must see for Walt Disney fans. Exhibits were very well done.
We loved the museum. Shows the love, sweat and tears to build this empire.
Because of its history and because it was part of my childhood
This is a one of the best experiences I've had in a museum as it tells the story of the man behind Walt Disney Studios and his humble beginnings and hardwork.
Always a great experience. If you are a Disney, animation, or early film enthusiast this is a must stop.
Cool place but a lot of reading. Be prepare to spend all day and it won't be enough. I think that adults may have definitely more fun than kids. You can find many interesting stories behind the cartoons you know.
Truly incredible for a Disney fan. The section with the Disneyland exhibit is phenomenal.
In-depth info about Walt and his family as well as Walt and his work.
Most rememberable experience! I learned so much that I never knew about Walt Disney!
Best museum experience I've ever had. Worst cafe in the world. The ran out of all their food and still let people stand in line and wait and make choices only to be told they were out.
If you are a Disnet fan, then you need to visit. So much to see and learn about Walt and Roy. We ran out of time just before we got to the Disneyland sections which was on the 1950s. Sorry we had to skip it as Disneyland fans will see a lot of insights into Disneyland from Walt's personal interests and family. I'm sorry I didn't have the time to go back, so another trip someday to finish it.
Just do it! Seriously if your in SF this is a must see! Really really awesome place great view of the golden gate too! If your a Disney fan you will love it totally worth the admission make sure you learn about the multi plane camera before you go becuse they have one and it will blow your mind when you see it. Also I will mention if your a starwars fan Lucasfilm supposed to have their headquarters near the Walt Disney family museum and I hear they have a fountain with Yoda on top of it I haven't seen it personally but if you're a fan I recommend you looking to looking at it it's pretty cool from what I hear
If you're a Disney freak, you've been here. It's the mecca for Disneyana & history of Walt & his dreams come true
Very accessible and friendly! Lots of information, plan on being there for a few hours!
Took the family here and they loved it, esp the grandkids. Awesome nostalgic displays and the gift shop had some cool items, though they were kind of pricey. If you re in SFO it s in the Presidio area, and if you love Disney, check this place out.
Don't let the appearance of the building fool you, the collection is extensive. In hindsight we should have only gone for the normal exhibition or the special one as we didn't have 2+ hours and had to rush though it a bit. Recommended for everyone not only Disney fans.
If you are into museums and disney you would really appreciate this museum. They have put various exhibits. Also the base museum talks about the journey of Walt Disney. How various famous characters were decided and how Disney came up with the ideas of those characters. How disney ventured into hollywood and how animation works. One can dive deep and get to know a lot about it.
Walt Disney Family Museum
We visited last month, this museum is fabulous. The staff was very helpful and the exhibits were great! I highly recommend taking a few hours to check out this museum.
If you been to disney world or disney land , dont waste your time and money here.
If you love all things Disney. This museum is a must see!
Please avoid this place! It's the most boring museum ever. I had high expectations before going to this museum thinking that it would be fun and entertaining because it's Disney's museum. It turns out that the museum is about the founder Walt Disney. There is nothing fun or interactive in the museum just lot's of history about the Disney company and it's founder. If you like reading lots of boring description then this museum is for you. There weren't any Disney's characters even. I thought at least there will be a photo booth stop for kids to take pictures with the character. No there isn't. I visited sf aquarium and it was more fun than Disney's museum. It's such a shame for the company that creates entertainment for the world that couldn't design a fun museum. On top of that tickets are really expensive. Please stay away from this museum and visit other popular spots in San Francisco
Good museum to find out more about the man behind the mouse. Exhibits are nice but probably not good for small children. Learned a lot about Disney that I didn't know. If you like Disney, you should check out the museum.
Good museum for adults. All about Walt s life. Not good for children looking to see characters etc
Wonderful place to learn about the history of Walt Disney and his early years up until his death. Featuring animation and stories among more.
On site store and Cafe
It's nice if not a little expensive. If you're a Disney fan you'll love it if not maybe skip. kids will love it i bet. Ps it's more about the man walt and little less about the movies and park.
Great place for any Disney fanatic. Only disappointing thing is the ticket price.
Unique museum that focuses on the life of Walt Disney. This not a Disney theme park like attraction, but a true focus on Walt and his family. A must stop for all Disney enthusiasts.
If you are a Disney fan, this is a must place to stop. Could have been a better value.
The Disney Family Museum is the perfect place for any Disney fanatic. I came here during one of their night life events and I had a great time visiting the different exhibits. The theme was tiki and everyone came dressed up in vintage tiki clothes. They had themed cocktails, arts and crafts and had a food truck outside selling Hawaiian style sliders. My favorite part of the museum was the Mary Blair exhibit in the second building in the back. They also had a ukulele player that serenaded guests as they waited in the line to get into the museum. I would love to go back on a day when it's not so crowded so I could see more of the museum.
If your a hard core Disney fan you ll love this place, if not it s still pretty cool.
The museum takes you through Walt Disney s life and how the Disney we know today came to be.
It also houses a ton of Disney originals; drawings, movies, oscars, etc.
The museum is a bit on the pricey side, so plan on that but still worth the money.
There s plenty of things to watch as well as things to interact with. Our kids favorite was the original animatronics parrot that you get to control.
They also show some original Disneyland items and many of the original films.
If your in San Francisco it s well worth the visit!
WDFM: The Ultimate Destination for Disney Fans
If you're a fan of Walt Disney and his creations, then the Walt Disney Family Museum (WDFM) is a must-visit destination. Located in the Presidio of San Francisco, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, WDFM is an American museum that showcases the life and legacy of Walt Disney.
The museum was founded by Diane Disney Miller, Walt's daughter, in 2009. Her vision was to create a place where people could learn about her father's life and work in an interactive and engaging way. Today, WDFM is one of the most popular museums in San Francisco, attracting visitors from all over the world.
What You'll Find at WDFM
Walt Disney was one of the most influential figures in American entertainment history. He created some of the most beloved characters and stories that continue to captivate audiences today. At WDFM, you'll get an up-close look at his life story through exhibits that showcase his early years as an animator to his later years as a film producer.
One of the highlights of WDFM is its collection of artifacts related to Walt's life and work. You'll see original drawings from some of his earliest cartoons like Steamboat Willie (1928), which introduced Mickey Mouse to audiences for the first time. There are also props from some classic films like Mary Poppins (1964) and Sleeping Beauty (1959).
In addition to these artifacts, there are also interactive exhibits that allow visitors to experience what it was like working on a film set or creating their own animation using modern technology.
Why Visit WDFM?
There are many reasons why you should visit WDFM if you're a fan of Walt Disney or just interested in learning more about American entertainment history:
1) Learn About One Of America's Most Influential Figures: As mentioned earlier, Walt Disney had a profound impact on American culture through his creations such as Mickey Mouse and Disneyland theme park among others.
