This place is in interesting collection of pictures, documents, sound clips, and movie clips that catalog the history of Walt Disney the man. The most interesting thing about this museum to me is the technique Disney used to create animations. Its definitely worth a visit if you are in San Francisco and have 2-3 hours to kill. There is plenty of road side parking in the area.

As I am a huge fan of anything Disney, this was a perfect experience for any Disney fan alike. Getting to see a real history of Walt and his family on how he really came about was great. Also seeing real artifacts from not only what Walt had created, also things that were created in the Disney name. Such a perfect location with a small Cafe. Well worth the money we spent. Strongly recommend doing both exhibition and the museum. With taking my time this took roughly about 2.5 hours to complete and I didn't read or look at every little detail. Amazing work all around a great experience for family or some that are "just" Disney fans. ;)

This is actually a great tribute to Walt and his family. You get Walt's life story, along with all his attempts and struggles. Was quite interesting, Disneyland didn't come into the picture till almost the end of the tour! Impeccably clean, well presented as only Disney can! I loved all the personal letters they had on display.

This is not some overly commercial Disney entity. Instead, it is a museum hosting heartfelt Disney family keepsakes, old technology and original old Mickey Mouse and other Disney character sketches. It is the only such Disney Museum in the world. Word is that Walt's daughter Diane insisted that the museum be built in San Francisco.

It is one of my favorite San Francisco museums. For context, I am a longtime game and virtual reality developer, and I find the various exhibits here to be inspiring. I visit the museum every two months or so.

I enjoyed reading about Walt Disney's history, and the Disneyland model was breathtaking. The multi-plane camera was also super interesting. Exhibits felt a bit text-heavy at times. Not a good fit if you don't like reading.

Everything was nice up until we drew some pictures and placed them on the wall where everyone else had their hand drawn photos of Mickey, and we witnessed the worker come behind us and crumble them up and throw them in the garbage. Absolutely rude and made my family very upset.

Ok to be honest, I cheaped out since the museum ticket is expensive. But I gotta say they have a great outdoor space. And the museum gift shop is really cool. They have one of the few original copies of the draft books that were used to create some Disney movies! And people who work there are super friendly and are more than willing to talk to you about the histories behind those collections!

The museum is extremely interesting, but it was dense. It seems like it's going to take you a couple hours, but if you really take your time to read and check out everything, expect at least 3, or 4 hours.

There are short films, models, photograph diaries and a lot more. In terms of production quality, it is high end and high level like Disneyland.

If you are a Disney fan, you'll love this; if you aren't a fan necessarily, you can still appreciate it all.

One of the most thoroughly detailed museums I've been in. Learned more about Walt Disney and his family than I'll ever be able to remember. The scale recreation of Disneyland is the highlight of course.

You could spend all day here if you tried to read and really absorb everything.

Great experience. It covers the history of Walt Disney and the company. It includes about 10 different rooms all detailing different parts of his life, experiences, failures, and innovations in the field. Lots of memories and even history of how characters were developed and changed through the years.

Anyone seeking inspiration by the story of perseverance and wonder, you will come and meet the man himself in a way one would not predict and not soon forget. What a pilgrimge for any fan of the man and his dream amidst the setting of The Presidio with one of the most beautiful backdrops of the city and bay.

Very nice museum truly focused on the Disney family. Rich in exhibits and activities. On the other hand, difficult to access without a car (a little out of the way so it takes a good hour and a half of walking from the city center)

Amazing, truly amazing. As someone who was brought up with frequent trips to Disneyland, I absolutely loved learning about Walt's life. I highly recommend this exhibit to any Disney fan. I would say, however, that very young children would not enjoy it as much as adults would, for obvious reasons; it is a museum, after all.

If you loved the Walt Disney movies, here you will find many mentions but mostly lots of sculptures and prizes on and about Disney. In some products, kids will enjoy it in another part, old drawings, old sketches, and black and white sections will probably get bored and come back to their phone.

Beautiful museum! One finds virtually all of Walt Disney's life, his drawings, the prizes won, the keys to the city. In addition, you will also find the first color cans used and some designs in sequence. Really very nice to visit!

Surprisingly big museum to Walt Disney. Doesn't seem to be endorsed by the Disney company, so only expect to learn about the era in which Walt was alive. The highlight is the original model of Disneyland.

What a wonderful place to visit. Much like the Tardis, it is much larger on the inside than it looks on the outside. This museum teaches the audience about Disney, his family, and his career while he was alive. Information is given in every form! There are posters to read, videos to watch, things to interact with, and much more! Totally worth the visit.

You could not enjoy the interior, or make a fair assessment of the place, because the closing time they have published is 6:00 pm and this does not match, with the last group entry. We arrived before the closing time, but we could not enter because they announced, at the entrance, a schedule of last group visit, about two hours before the closing time.
That information should be offered online, to avoid a long trip to visitors and thus be able to arrive on a schedule, when it is possible to make a visit.
See here, on Google, the published schedules. They expose a maximum time of permanence of 3 hours, but being so, one can plan to be around 1 hour and find a closure, at the entrance.

This museum feature life and legacy of Walt Disney. Firstly, make sure to pay for your parking at the parking station before you go in. The gift shop and the lobby is free to entered. There is a small food station next to the gift shop that serve sandwiches and beverage. There are few outdoor seatings by the entrance but I would recommend packing a nice lunch or snacks and just sit right on the grass field infront of the museum. The rest of the exhibits cost entrance fees. There is no space mountain ride or hunted mansion but you get to read and learn lots of history of Walt's family, the park, and the creation of Mickey Mouse. Definitely worth it if you are a Disney nerd!

The Walt Disney Museum is located at the Presidio where there is plenty of free parking nearby. The exhibits are fantastic and make for a wonderful stroll down memory lane for those of us who went to Disneyland early on! I learned many new things about Disney and his many early breakthroughs in animation and sound and Academy Awards for them! Also, right now (through Jan. 20, 2020, there is an entire extra building with two stories filled with Disney Family memorbelia on display by his daughter. A must see for those of us who are old enough to remember the original Steamboat Willie film featuring the first version of Mickey Mouse!

This place is AMAZING. If you love Disney it's a must see. I would say it's not meant for kids, more adult oriented. They tell you it'll take about an hour and half to get through, I was there for three hours and probably could have spent more time. There is so much history, lots to read and fun stuff to interact with.

It's a great journey through Walt's life and by the end I nearly cried...no joke. They also have a Cafe that serves coffee and food and some adorable Disney inspired pastries. Yum!

Come spend the day, have lunch and check out the gift shop! If you're lucky the volunteer named Mark will be there, he's wonderful!!

The view of the Golden Gate Bridge, which is a museum-bound, is beautiful. The museum is very well maintained and its materials are vast. This year is the 90th anniversary of Mickey's birth, and not only Mickey Mouse but also the birth story of various works such as Snow White, Cinderella, and Ugly the Kling can be seen. There are a lot of videos that Walt Disney explains about characters, which are not easily accessible. It is recommended if you liked the usual Disney.

About WDFM

WDFM: The Ultimate Destination for Disney Fans

If you're a fan of Walt Disney and his creations, then the Walt Disney Family Museum (WDFM) is a must-visit destination. Located in the Presidio of San Francisco, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, WDFM is an American museum that showcases the life and legacy of Walt Disney.

The museum was founded by Diane Disney Miller, Walt's daughter, in 2009. Her vision was to create a place where people could learn about her father's life and work in an interactive and engaging way. Today, WDFM is one of the most popular museums in San Francisco, attracting visitors from all over the world.

What You'll Find at WDFM

Walt Disney was one of the most influential figures in American entertainment history. He created some of the most beloved characters and stories that continue to captivate audiences today. At WDFM, you'll get an up-close look at his life story through exhibits that showcase his early years as an animator to his later years as a film producer.

One of the highlights of WDFM is its collection of artifacts related to Walt's life and work. You'll see original drawings from some of his earliest cartoons like Steamboat Willie (1928), which introduced Mickey Mouse to audiences for the first time. There are also props from some classic films like Mary Poppins (1964) and Sleeping Beauty (1959).

In addition to these artifacts, there are also interactive exhibits that allow visitors to experience what it was like working on a film set or creating their own animation using modern technology.

Why Visit WDFM?

There are many reasons why you should visit WDFM if you're a fan of Walt Disney or just interested in learning more about American entertainment history:

1) Learn About One Of America's Most Influential Figures: As mentioned earlier, Walt Disney had a profound impact on American culture through his creations such as Mickey Mouse and Disneyland theme park among others.

2) Experience Interactive Exhibits: Unlike other museums where visitors can only look at exhibits behind glass cases or ropes; here they can interact with them too! Visitors can try their hand at animating characters or even step into recreated sets from classic films!

3) Enjoy A Unique Location: The Presidio area offers stunning views overlooking San Francisco Bay while being surrounded by nature trails perfect for hiking enthusiasts!

4) Perfect For All Ages: Whether young or old; everyone will find something interesting here! From children who love animated movies & cartoons; adults who appreciate art & history; seniors who want memories refreshed - there’s something for everyone!

5) Great Value For Money: With affordable admission prices compared with other attractions around town - this museum offers great value-for-money experience!

Conclusion

In conclusion,Walt Disney Family Museum is not just another tourist attraction but rather it’s an immersive experience into one man’s creative genius which has shaped our childhoods forever! It’s definitely worth visiting if you’re ever in San Francisco area whether alone or with family/friends because it provides insights into how creativity works while providing fun activities too!
