5 stars for the production of the exhibits; construction, design = tops. gorgeous. The kids were bored. General consensus: leave the kids at home. Honestly, it was esoteric and nerdy even for me. The worship for Walt is strong in this place: chokingly. and it's too expensive. but, location, location, location. & design, design design. pretty.

Fantastic museum. Amazing place even if you aren't a Disney fan. Good historical overview, lots of rare art. Recreations of his multi plane camera and a typical animator's desk. Great view of the Golden Gate bridge is bonus.

All right

Came here on a weekday in late June, around 1pm. Located in Presidio, there is a lovely grassy area with big red comfortable chairs and a beautiful view of the water and other buildings. Parking lot is just across. Anyways, we paid $35/person which included access to the temporary Mickey Mouse located in a different building. You don't have to be a huge fan to enjoy and appreciate this museum. It is actually quite large with many different rooms and exhibits. The pieces on display focuses on Walt Disney's ancestry, his personal life and hobbies, and of course the history and creation of his brand. It's was very awesome to see and a bit nostalgic. Towards the end of the museum, is a diorama of Disneyland. What's fascinating about it is the fact that it doesn't represent any specific timeframe. Instead, all attractions and areas are represented. One of the last parts of the museum is a small room that displayed drawings and images of a sad Mickey Mouse that were all illustrated at the time of Walt Disney's death. It was moving for me.

As soon as you exit the exhibit, it leads you straight into the gift shop and a small cafe/coffee bar.

3 adults and 2 kids in our group and we all enjoyed the experience. We were here for about 2.5 hours.

This is a museum about Walt from his humble beginnings through the ups and downs of his creative endeavors. It s well done and in typical Disney style, it s clean, organized and the buttons and interactive displays actually work! It takes 2-3 hours without the special exhibits or film and it s costly (also typical Disney), but if you are a Disney fan, it s worth it for the back stories on so much of what Walt accomplished. Don t be surprised when, at the end of the tour, you land at (wait for it...), the gift shop. Can anyone say Disney experience!

There are also Disney animations that flowed as propaganda during the war with Japan.

Incredible museum - a must-see San Francisco experience! Could have spent an entire day here. So great to learn of the many aspects of the man behind the mouse. Really enjoyed the interactive displays that described details of how animation technology has evolved.

Oh my god. I can't say enough great things about this museum. It is world class. The subject matter is that of the late great Walt Disney, artifacts and exhibits from the studio in his time and the Walt Disney family history. I took my niece here in its opening year and she put it best, "I feel like I not only learned about Uncle Walt but I took a walk with him."

Good museum which traces the life of walt disney through his drawings as well as objects that belonged to him. The prices are reasonable from memory. And the parking around is 3 hours free, and there is no need for more for this visit

I have always been a fan of Disney movies! I learned a lot from the museum especially how Walt Disney started. I also got to see my favourite character Mickey Mouse! A must visit when you are in San Francisco.

It's a beautiful place. With many articles that are not seen in other dysney stores. The atmosphere is also different from other venues. The items they sell are beautiful. Some prices a bit high

Great place to visit if you're a Disney fan! The main exhibit starts from pre Disney being born all the way through his passing. The exhibit showcases his struggles and achievements and the various impacts it had on the industry.

My only complaint is the prices at the gift shop; $13 for a small magnet? That's ridiculous!

Current exhibit of Nine Old Men is an excellent walk back through decades of Disney Studios' artistry and imagination. Please note that the museum is primarily the history of Walt Disney and Disney Studios. It's fascinating and well organized, but not really a place for small children expecting to see their favorite characters. For anyone interested in the history of animation and animation as an art form, it's great!

The entry price and the gift shop is on the expensive side. Nice musuem at a terrific location, the presidio area is truly beautiful. The museum boasts of telling the tale of Walt Disney the person and slowly how the corporation came to be. Nice animations from early Disney years. Overall a quaint afternoon well spent.

How surprising to find this excellent museum to Walt Disney and the Disney family in San Francisco. We are Disney devotees and have visited just about all of the entertainment and historical facilities in the Orlando and Anaheim areas, and this was kind of like a final feather in the cap in beautiful Presidio Park. Anyone interested in the lore of Walt Disney and the early days of animation will definitely want to stop here.

Amazing experience learning more about Disney and his life. Looking back, it's always easier to see how they brilliant folks come to be. The museum itself is a wonderful journey and very engaging.

Incredibly many exhibits and information about Walt Disney. You can see Disney's entire career in chronological order as the tour progresses. Highly recommended for all ages and definitely worth the entry. As a bonus, you can take great photos of the Golden Gate Bridge on the second floor.

The Walt Disney Museum is located inside SF's Presidio. When u r outside the museum and it is a clear day, u can have sweepibg views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. This museum gives an indepth look about Walt Disney's life. There r a lot of memorabilia of the thing he created. It is easy to spend 3 hours walking and looking at everything. U can park directly in front of the museum. However, it is better to park your car in areas longer than 4 hours so u can leisurely walk through the museum as well as walk around the Presidio. The well manicure lawns, sweeping views, beautiful trees and historical houses make this place a nice relaxing place to hike.

A treasure trove for all Fans of Walt Disney and his life, work and the forces that drove and shaped him.
This is not a museum owned by the Walt Disney Cooperation, but a non-profit built by members of the Disney Family.
This is purely about Walter Elias Disney, his beginnings, the creation of Mickey and rise to become the driving force of the world s greatest animation studio and beyond.

This is a must see for Disney fans and tourists of San Francisco.
Like any museum, it's probably more entertaining for the adults than kids!
The ticket prices were very reasonable and worth every penny. I purchased both the regular admission which was 20 dollars, and the special showing ticket, $15, for "the art Pinocchio" exhibit. Both are worth their weight in cost, and I was very happy when it was all over.
See for yourself, you won't regret it.

Full disclosure I am a Disney nut, and to be honest, I don't know why you'd go here unless you are. The design of the museum and exhibitions is on a level that matches anything I've seen in a Disney park and the memorabilia is just stunning. The exhibition brought a tear to my eyes a couple of times, partly due to nostalgia and partly due to the sheet beauty and craftsmanship of some of original artwork. I would classify this as not to be missed, but I don't think young children will get much out of it and you need to have a solid interest in the Disney story otherwise you're wasting your time.

I am a big Disney fan and this just hit the spot. You could spend all day in there just reading and watching everything. The gift shop also has some great options. It was an overall fun time. Definitely worth going just to check out the Disneyland original replica.

This is not the traditional Disney experience for the kids. Quite a bit of awards and the old Disney drawings from yesteryear's. Very cool to learn about the history and the printing process from the first Disney publications and how far they have come to today's success. Once again, don't bring your young kids here expecting a good time.
P.S: very friendly staff. Disney sure knows how to train them.

Great place to visit. Especially for Cast Members. One day was not enough time to really discover 12 areas of Walt Disney history.
Very much worth the price of admission, especially if you want to know more about an innovator and inventor whose dreams and ideas continue to this day.

A must visit for any Disney enthusiasts. This place is so awesome. The property is stunningly beautiful too. I really enjoyed my visit and left with a couple of souvenirs from the gift shop on my way out.

Must-see for Disney fans. Artifacts and documentation from every era of Walt's life and career, beautifully presented. And if you need a break from the exhibits, you can walk outside and gaze over at the Golden Gate Bridge. Controversial events like the 1941 strike and later HUAC investigation are (appropriately) not skipped over.

Very nice museum telling the life of this dear Walt. A perfect moment to discover him more intimately and to know the man behind these films and iconic park. Disney is a man with a lot of imagination of which only a small part has been implemented. Advantage for those who speak English poorly, audio guides are made available against a piece of identification. Delighted to have known Walt under another view.

This is a must visit for any Disney fan. You get to learn so much about Walt Disney and the origins of what we know as the Disney company today. You can spend an entire day here and marvel at all the amazing facts and displays available. Currently there is a Mickey and the World special exhibit, which is great, but not as large as you'd expect and located in another ancillary building. The museum also includes a nice cafe and gift shop. Parking is fairly easy, but you still have to pay.

Definitely a good museum if you're a fan of Disney or just film history in general. It is surprisingly large, so if you're planning to read every label, leave yourself 5 or 6 hours to get through the whole museum. My only complaint about this museum actually is that there's SO MUCH to read. It's very informative, but on my first visit, I spent four hours reading everything and watching every film clip and I barely got halfway through the museum!

I highly recommend seeing the Eyvind Earle exhibit while it's here, it's incredibly beautiful. Their temporary exhibitions (in my experience) are well worth the extra money. Also, if you have time, check out the first theater!

Tip: place is huge, plan 2+ hours if you re one of those people that read everything

Tip 2: not great for little kids but each room will have something to catch their attention for at least 5 minutes

This was interesting, and the placement in an old military base building is... weird. I liked it, focused on the life of Walt more than what he did I felt. It didn't capture me like some museums though. If you are enthralled with Walt Disney then this might be a bit dry.
