Good if you want to learn about Walt Disney, but limited deep insight into the studio or movies that he created
Wonderful museum where you get to learn about Walt's life and what lead him to his success! The people working there are absolutely lovely, too.
I love Disney. This was definitely worth the price of admission. It was fun to learn the history and background of Walt Disney. It was my first time here. I came by myself, took as long as I wanted. What a great experience. Definitely recommend going if you re in the San Francisco area.
Beautiful Location in the Presidio and Great Disney Exhibits!!
Great place to see all of Walt and Roy Disney amazing hard work. WOW. A must SEE
Wonderful place to go for the whole family..And the chili was really good too. So much to see and have fun,,I am very grateful that Walt Disney thought about the American and other countries in which to build a wonderful amusement park for all to really enjoy. And to honor him by having this museum for all to enjoy too.
Wow. The 9 old men exhibit is a must see. The exhibit gives a rare look at the people surrounding Walt, showing not only their contributions to the Disney magic but also their lives, personalities and their own art. Finally well deserved credit and attention is given to some of the amazing people who made Disney what it is today.
Learned so much about the man behind the mouse it was amazing ! They have so much memorabilia it was so cool !
The contents of the exhibition show the life of Walt Disney. There are many exhibitions and it is worth seeing. Personally, I recommend the second half of Disneyland's secret story section. Camera shooting is OK without a flash inside.
A bit spendy but a must do if you are a big Disney fan. If you aren't bring one with you!
Great experience. Kid friendly. A great variety of visual and hands-on exhibits. Our parking was free
This was our 2nd trip to this museum. This time the goal was to see the Mickey Mouse from Walt to the World exhibit at the Diane Disney Miller Exhibit Hall. It was, to say the least, amazing. If you're a Disney fan at all you owe it to yourself to see this showing and it ends later in December so hurry up and get there. We paid to go through the main museum again because there is so much to see it's hard to absorb in 1 trip. You can go to the MM exhibit for just $15. and easily spend 1/2 a day.
We ate lunch at the little cafe inside and were both very happy with the meal.
This is a nice museum but is a terrible place to bring small children with lots of energy. It is not an amusement park, nor is it really about Disney as a corporation; it is a somewhat personal/intimate collection of stuff from the Disney family that happens to overlap with some stuff from the studio.
You need Four hours solid to visit this place. They saw 2.5 at the front and it's not enough, especially if you like museums. Disney nuts might need more than 4! Get a vintage Mickey doll in the gift shop. You know, the weird one Disney himself was holding on that cruise photo from the 30's. Bad ass if you are an animation or toy history fan. They have a diorama of Disneyland which doesn't quite match Disneyland at any point in history but still has all the main stuff. Fascinating to look at.
This place is amazing for family and touring it has a gift shop and even a little place where you can eat, but it is the whole disney experience
A wonderful museum, very friendly staff, a place to recharge the joy factor!
Very good source of history for Walt Disney. Too bad the merry go round is no longer there.
It has all the detailed history of Walt Disney, its trajectory. Very interesting!!
The trajectory from the birth of Walt Disney to the death, the number of works created and its history are displayed. I was curious to see how Mickey was born and arrived today.
So much to learn and see! Be sure to do the Mickey Mouse Museum as well!
Very good exhibits. Was able to spend a lot of time across a diversity of exhibits.
Great for Walt Disney enthusiasts, not great for kids...
Lots of information about Walt Disney. Parking is a bit pricy because the museum is at a public park. There is plenty of parking available if you get there early in the day. The whole museum takes 3 hours prior more. It is not necessarily for children since it is more about history, the company, and the man than about Disney characters.
Super nice museum to visit now you can see what a work it was like to make a full cartoon film. The temporary exhibition about Micky was slightly less if you are not a super fan, you have more than enough with the main museum.
I love the place. You will need a lot of time to spend if you want to enjoy and learn about Walt Disney. Everything is there for you to read, listen to, don't mind the people relax walk slow and observe everything. That way the ticket you spend is worth it. Trust me every bit of information is gold in the museum, so if you do have time go for it. This museum is a good prep for the real thing. Disneyland. Make sure if your bringing kids, don't get too bored because they will. Don't forget to talk to the workers, they will tell you some cool secrets. Make sure to interact with everything in the museum.
Very interesting, loved to see the history of Walt Disney here. So with it, I came here with my 18 yr old boy. He loved it too.
Be prepared to loose track of time! Great story telling of the man behind the mouse.
A beautiful walk to get to the museum. I really enjoyed my visit. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Dali exhibit as he and Walt had collaborated
This museum is about Walt, not the company. It is a great place to learn his history and his drive for success.
OK if you love Disneyland and Disney animation. Otherwise Blah.
This organization constantly plots how they can make members and visitors pay more for less. Not to mention they just laid off their entire front-of-house staff so they could hire part-time, low wage workers with no benefits. The current coordinator and lead sold out their entire team and now oversee a toxic work/visitor service culture that's been prevalent for so many years. The old staff was the only reason to continue visiting this place. Totally unethical.
Wonderful tribute to Walt Disney. So worth the time. I'd go back again, once is not enough!
I am proud that I visited the house of a talented person! The history of his works, life, flight of fantasy will not leave indifferent any person, any age, religion or polit. views. Admission for adults 25ue, up to 4 years old is free. Photos and videos are prohibited.
If your interested in the Disney history you'll love this place.
Wow....we know Mickey....but the man and the team that built an empire is amazing! A top notch exhibition that honestly is something I'll never forget!
A wonderful collection of photos, letters, artifacts, and other memorabilia from throughout Walt Disney's life, much of it via his daughter.
My son is a big fan of Walt Disney and seeing him so happy to be here is awesome! Great place with amazing history.
Relive the fairy tale and life of Walt Disney ... very beautiful and well done show.
Wonderful glimpse into the life of Walt Disney and family, and his setbacks and successes.
Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Well worth the time.
A little overpriced for what it is, but very enjoyable and interesting.
Just an amazing story about Walt Disney's life. I didn't realize how many times it took him to create a successful company. This should be inspiration to anyone trying to start a business.
It's a great little museum. You'll be out in just a few hours. It's a touching tribute to Walt's life. The best part for me is the original Disneyland model... including a bunch of attractions that are long gone. We also did the "side museum" which is mostly Disney-inspired artwork. The cafe is overpriced, and food hastily made.
Pro Tip: Book your museum tour for first thing in the morning. You can get street parking right in front of the museum that way!
Very cool is the narrative of Walt Disney's personal and family history throughout his professional career. It tells many stories and facts, with rich and rich material, that thrill those who have been influenced by the characters and films of Disney. For children it is not very interactive.
I think it is a destination that is in the category of enthusiasts in San Francisco.
But is it a holy place for those who are interested in the history and history of Walt Disney? You can enjoy quite a bit. There are also models from the early days of Disneyland, and valuable things such as the cameras used for shooting are exhibited.
If the weather is nice, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge from the corridor in front of the slope. It is a pretty view.
There is a cafe and souvenir shop near the exit, so you may take a break and arrange the next spot.
If you go by car, there is a parking lot on the side of the road in front of you (purchase tickets required) or a parking lot on the other side of the front lawn space (purchase tickets required as well), so it feels like using that.
As an avid Disney fan, the museum was quite educational!
It was pretty good. I don't know what i was expecting but it was very informative. Lots of great pictures and details about his life. Most of it i already knew from reading books about Walt Disney or movies. The toys, statues, and all the little trinkets were great.
I like to collect ornaments from places i have visited but they didn't have any that says family museum in them. Employees were friendly.
We paid to see the Awaking Beauty: The Art of Eyvind Earle exhibit. I think that was my favorite part. The details and the imagination that it takes to come up with that artwork.... Amazing ! I want his work in my house.
This is absolutely stunning. The campus is surrounded by the ocean and mountains and hje museum and surrounding areas is a great place for family!
Went to the Dali Walt exhibit and was VERY disappointing
Great for adults and teenage kids to remind us to dream big!
A nice place for 15 and older. I was with my 6 years old and they were bored in most of the places. Maybe with a cool guide it would have been a better experience
This museum is so immersive! It is curated so well, designed to educate and entertain all ages. Plan to spend a couple hours and definitely see the special exhibits!
This place is huge and you could spend almost an entire day looking through everything. Might sound like common sense, but don't go here if you're not a fan of Disney though. Definitely worth seeing at least once!
Simply it's a fantastic place, which must be visited an enjoed
I love Disney!! and the Walt Disney Family Museum is not different! This museum shows the life of Walt Disney, from the his early beginnings to this death and legacy. They showcase the history of Disney's animation studio, all the great accomplishments and all the innovation. When you first walk into the museum you can see all the awards Walt Disney won, which is extremely impressive. The views of the city from inside and outside the museum are breathtaking, it is one great trip with lots of things to see and learn. If you are a Disney fan you must come to check this out!
My Dogs love the large rectangular field of perfect grass the Museum and other, offices sit across from. As soon as their paw's touch that grass they start to gallop like little miniature ponies!
Wonderful insight into the early years of Walt Disney and his family. Wish it would have included more info on newer projects, but it did end with his death, so it made chronological sense. Overall, very interesting!
Interesting to see some of the history behind Disney, especially separate from the company themselves
If you are a fan of Mr. Walt Disney the creator of the world that we all know you will be delighted. You will be treated to a guided tour of this multi-storey museum. Friends of the reading you will be delighted! You will be entitled to a multitude of details on Walt's life for 20 entry However, not suitable for children who may be a little bored ... Small bonus the magnificent view of the bay of San Francisco at the exit from the museum.
Nice place to learn about Disney, friendly and kid friendly.
The food was so savory. I'll return with my friends. Makes me feel like I in Nashville again.
January 2018. It was a wonderful experience and a lot of history behind the Walt Disney Family. Unfortunately it is closed because of the pandemic. But when it reopens don't miss out an opportunity to come visit this wonderful place. San Francisco is located in the state of California. And it's known for its Golden Gate Bridge built in the 1930s. There is a lot of beautiful scenery to visit.
Great for Disney Fans! $25 for adults. Take your time, there are a lot of exhibits.
If your not a Disney fan, probably not the right adventure for you.
If you like Disney, or animation or history or just want something to do the museum it's beautiful and I interactive, fun for all ages and the staff is knowledgeable and nice
Love! Just wish I had more time to spend. Lots of interactive exhibits and wonderful history I never knew.
Honestly the best museum I've ever been to. Worth your money!
If you're a fan of Disney, this museum should definitely be of interest to you. There's a massive amount of information, family/company items, and videos on Walt and the Disney Company. A decent amount of it is interactive as well. It's probably not too interesting for younger kids though, as it's more a look at the history of the company and its people.
Great history of Walt and the formation of Disney. Worth the trip for any Disney fan!
Easily spent 2 hours here with a group and didn't even realize it!
Located in the historic Presidio military base, this museum features milestones in the life and career of Walt Disney. The museum is well designed and showcases the origins of beloved characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and more. You'll also learn about Disney's earliest works, including his first feature length movies. There's also a nice gift shop selling unique Disney memoribilia.
This is a great museum for adults. There is a lot of information about Disney and his life/business, etc. and the Eyvind Earle exhibit was excellent. This is not a museum for kids, though.
