My Aunt Sally used to work here back in the day when she sported an awesome mohawk, a few more piercings and one less baby. Now it is less punk, still hip (much like my aunt). A couple of my friends have preformed at their weekly in-store concerts complete with free Shiner beer, and for me it doesn't get much better than that.

I could happily spend the entire weekend in this shop. If you love music this is the place for you. When we arrived there was a band playing to launch their new album- the well - and they were amazing. Some of the records were priced above market price hence the one star off, but did find tonnes of stuff for a good price. Loved it.

Really great shop with a collection of awesome, high quality records, as well as some nick nacks and other things! Definitely something for everyone here and worth checking out after getting ice cream at Amy's next door!

Definitely a place to go on any Austin visit. Occasionally higher prices than other record stores in town, but they do good about keeping it local with a Texas section, and they have concerts there too. An Austin favorite!

One of the few remaining iconic record stores, this place should be preserved. Records aplenty along with band memorabilia and kitsch, one will find something to get for themselves as well as something to gift someone else. And the service is phenomenal! We bought a record player (open box item) and upon coming home in Houston (3 hours away) discovered that it was missing a part. I called and informed them of the situation, they sent me the part by mail at no cost to me.

It used to be a great place to go, but the selection and patrons have both gotten younger, newer, and insufferable. As Austin has become increasingly more overcrowded in the past decade and vinyl has become trendy, the place is packed to the brim. The vinyl section is often crowded with hipsters who have dubious tastes searching for $30 records.

I used to be one of a few people in the vinyl section and was able to have conversations with the employees about music, imagine that. The employees are now always focused on sales, corporate pushes, and bitchy customers at the register that they have no time to chat about music. This is a record store for crying out loud. Two of my favorite employees who ve worked here for decades no longer recognize me or are excited about music. We used to have amazing conversations about albums and songs that changed our lives. Some of my favorite records were recommendations by employees here and Cheapo. An employee that still works here recommended one of my favorite records and he now wouldn t know me from Adam. This person and that album changed my life and now there s no time to chat because it s all business now. The passion is gone and that s incredibly depressing

Awesome place. They had a huge selection of records, CDs and band shirts. They had some great rare Grateful Dead and Cramps records along with a ton of others. One of the best things about this place was that they had a easy parking. If you like vinyl, check this place out. I will definitely be back.

Waterloo has the best selection of CDs, DVDs, and new vinyl around. What the store lacks is a decent selection of used vinyl, and it's difficult to sort through and distinguish the new from the old. To be fair, there are plenty of places in Austin that you can visit for used records, but I was expecting a better selection. I'll continue to go to Breakaway or Friends of Sound which have a fraction of the volume but more 1st pressings and rare albums.

This is a really cool store. Not only is there a first class selection of music there are books, t-shirts, record players and a host of items perfect for the music lover. I also had the pleasure of seeing an acoustic performance from Margo Price while in store. This is a definite 5 stars.

I recently visited Waterloo Records and was surprised with the quality of merchandise. It's definitely worth a stop for hard to find items. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. I'll be back for sure!

This place is the best if your a record collector. Most likely they will have what you are looking for, if they don't, they will order it for you, and have it next time your in the store. They carry all things music. Turntables needles, cds, all music related items. Knowledgeable staff, that can refer you to music similar to your tastes, and the place even has live music on certain days. I try to stop in once a week, if I have a chance.

Can I just say "WOW!"? I called to see if Waterloo stocked an album from an Australian band and Cameron was like the Sherlock Holmes of record sleuths! He worked diligently to find out and ended up special ordering it for me. He was personable on the phone and worked hard to get me the best price. I was very appreciative of his time and look forward to picking up my new LP. Thanks for being part of what makes Austin the greatest!
