Waterloo is a must visit when record shopping in Austin.

They ve got a big new arrival section. Broad selection of both new and used LP s. A ton of 45 s. Even a nice sampling of new and used cassettes.

I mean, when you see an original West Coast Verve pressing of White Light/White Heat by the Velvet Underground in VG+ condition on the wall, for $25, you know you ve found a great record shop (it s not there anymore, kids...I bought that up so fast)

Set aside an hour or two and dig at Waterloo.

The absolute BEST record store in the world. No, I am not biased or anything, but my enthusiasm for this place is overwhelming. Best record selection, best in-store performances, best free Shiner keg beer, best employees and management. I mean, come on and show me another record store like that. Waterloo even has an excellent website.

Waterloo Records and Video might be one of these places that will outlive any music shop outlet. They keep it vintage and real. You can find all sorts of neat stuff in there from t-shirts to posters.

They also have one of the best vinyl collections in town. If you are looking for that Nine Inch Nails album in 1993, they will have it or special order it for you.

You can demo all the music in the store. They have quality headphones at each station. Just ask an employee for info.

If you're a music nerd, this is the place for you.

This place is a MUST SEE when you are in Austin. They have a VAST selection of records and posters. My teen son loves this place. Convenient location. It is quite popular so parking can get a little tricky.

I love this record store, it has everything you can ever imagine at this store. I went there to get a extreme heat CD. The people there is friendly and kind. But the record store is a little expensive but a good place to go to. I will be going back. I'm will happy with my extreme heat CD there. Thanks Waterloo Records for an awesome experience.

Great place that has affordable hard to find music. Selling them music was an easy process. Every time at checkout you get to interact with a friendly employee and John the manager is incredibly nice.

Before my last visit I would give them 5*, but last Sunday they screwed it up!
Over the last 10 years I visit the store at least twice a year and always buy more then 10 records, but that's done now.
Why? At first there collection is getting worst, didn't have one thing what I what (amoeba had 8 out of 10).
Then I searched for an hour to find a stack of cds what i put on hold, because they don't have baskets or anything to put your purchase in.
After my record search i wanna pay my stuff. And the on hold cds where gone, no one knows why, who, where!!!! Very bad customer service.
Than, even I'm disappointed about it I spend more than 350$ and you just get a discount of 10% if you pay cash!!! With card none!l
Very very customer unfriendly.
This is why music lover buy stuff cheaper online, they get it!

Excellent store with a vast collection of used (and new media). I found a couple gems at great prices.

They apparently support live music too. A band was tinkering a bit the day we stopped in. Stop in and buy something.

This is sad because I love the place and what it represents and I hate to have to bring it to this but it's the truth no one wants to talk about.

But I was the only Hispanic in shop that day with a couple other friends who were (hip enough or white) and couldn't help but catch staff and others staring at me.. that easily got washed away and everyone pisses off once they seen me with my buddies and the large ammount of vinyls that we purchased. I felt that we shouldn't of supported the place but we came for one thing and that was music.

I am Austin texas born and raised so I felt offended that potentially 80% of the cats are not from my home town, just to be staring at me like I'm in the wrong spot. Laugh if ya want but this is big facts for people that lived their whole lives here.

I bought my records in one line and then unfortunately had to get my bag at another register where my back pack was. Here is my complaint and why. I needed to get my bag but the cashier was engrossed in a conversation about trans am and how a band was some psuedo punk or what not with the handsome dude who was buying the record..it cost about 50 dollars for his purchase and the credit card needs to be processed..but the wait until he hands it over...it was like three sentences and then one thing is done...three more sentences and another thing is done..meanwhile i am now putting up my clothesline clip that says hey all i need it this one thing so i can go and they are ...like "well, i was never a fan of such and such" and i am like ok..this has gone on a bit longer than say a minute so..if i wasnt a handsome white man talking to a beautiful white lady...would i just be pushed along and told next...I am ok with that ..what i am not ok with is ..hey you can wait to the tune of "i dont see you standing there cause my libido is on" that song does not work for me. When i finally said something it was like "I was checking him out" for over a minute for a conversation that was going full flirt before i got there and remained there even while i waited. if this is how long it takes to get through line then you yuppies can keep it. i dont need to be cool and i sure as hell am not white handsome. so End of an Ear is my review of Waterloo. And for the record Honey..all you were doing the whole time is "checking" him out. that was the problem. I recommend End of an Ear for service and Waterloo if you want to get laid.

Good place to buy new and used music. They have pretty much everything or can get it. The only thing that sucks is the parking. If you have a big truck like me then you will have a hard time getting a spot.

Great selection. Lots of knick-knacks like bobble heads and magnets coffee cups, hats, tees, etc. They do sell record players and bookshelf speakers. They have a frequent buyer card and have happy hour (10% off) on Tuesdays from 8-close (I think).

Reminds me of amoeba in LA.

HUGE selection of Vinyl Records! Prices are very good and compare well to Discogs or eBay, only this is a brick and mortar store! Can get a bit packed on the weekends, but worth it if you are a fan of vinyl.

Live!

The last of the great record stores .

The last of the great record stores .

You better love it because it's the last high volume, large selection record store .

I have been coming to Waterloo since it was down the street . It has a huge selections of used and new records CD's T shirts and Gifts . It's the only place in Austin with a high probability of having what you are looking for .

I like Half price books but let's be honest their prices are no longer half price . It's more accurate to say double price books . They more than double the price that they pay just kidding they quadruple their price especially on collectible albums . At least with Waterloo you know the score .

Waterloo has the fresh used section by the weekday and used in the general area . I hit the general area first and then the fresh stock . Their prices rival half price and their volume blows half price out of the water .

Vinyl section is growing with the demand . so that section is as good as any .

Support this store if you want to keep the last thing that keeps Austin weird . It's like liberty lunch, dans hamburgers,, huts it's gone and almost gone . Austins view of keeping it weird is by taxing it out and replacing it with Amazon ,
