I have never been to a record store with more selection than this one. Friendly staff and music from all over the world, and from all years ! It doesn't get much better than that.

I have never been to a record store with more selection than this one. Friendly staff and music from all over the world, and from all years ! It doesn't get much better than that.
This is a great place to look around for music needs. Vinyl and more. If you've never been you need to go. Great and helpful staff.
An institution. Great selection of vinyl if not the best prices. Support this jewel of downtown Austin!
Support Great Local Record Stores. This ine is the best!
It's cool to look around in here once or twice but it's more for nostalgia of a bygone media type
Great record selection, lots of other media options and friendly staff!
Love this record store! I stop by weekly and almost always find something great in the used new arrivals section.
Visiting from out of town - should have given myself more time to dig here. Great selection, very fair prices. Recommended!
What a music store should be. Tons of music. Knowledgeable staff, and should you need to buy/print tickets for a show at Antone's, they're the place to go. From CDs to Vinyl, they have it. Support local and small and buy your music at Waterloo.
Great store ! I love this place can spend hours here..
I could spend a day here! If your a music lover go! Very good vibes, great people
Music, movies, Austin related odds and ends... Vinyl, CDs, even cassette tapes! Used & new. Bands playing in the afternoons, this place is the best
I went with granddaughter to get Calpurnia cd for concert and meet and greet....so well worth the visit.
SELLERS BEWARE!!! I took my CD collection to liquidate yesterday carrying in 4 full boxes. Recieved a poor offer and walked out with 3 1/2 boxes telling me that all my cds were there and went through only in 1 location. When I spoke to another employee stating all my cds were not accounted for he went to the back and brought out 10 cds saying he was sorry. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE UNETICAL PRACTICES OF THIS STORE and the fact I'm still missing 1/2 a file box of cds
Best place ever love this joint on my gosh the music the slacks and the staff everything is awesome and I had my concert T-shirt for me that I really wanted I'm so happy yeah
Great selection of records and had multiple people ask me if I needed help. My one complaint is the prices but it was packed so I guess they can get away with the high prices.
My go-to spot to pick up music in Austin. Their selection is spectacular and you'll find things that you didn't even know existed.
They have an amazing selection of records. I mostly went there for new records. Then used records section could use some work
Waterloo is a really nice store. You can expect pretty high prices, although if you look around enough and know what you're looking at you can find good deals. The movies usually have pretty good deals especially.
The vinyl selection is good, however the vast majority are new prints, meaning you're probably not going to find any special old releases or discounted used vinyls. This can be good and bad, of course, just depends what you want. Again the prices are not going to be low, so don't expect a huge bargain
The employees are nice, but in my experience there is no negotiation or haggling like at other shops.
Great records great people not not much to say just a good place
Loved the live performance they put on! They have a great selection of music including tons of vinyl. Wished I lived closer, I would be a regular! I highly recommend it when in the Austin area.
Really cool place, great selection of Vinyl, CD's and cassettes. Super laid back, always playing something cool to listen to while shopping.
A music lovers dream. If you haven't been to Waterloo please go now. Music in all forms as far as the eye can see. Knowledgable, friendly staff. Locally owned and operated. Concentration on local music. HUGE vinyl selection, new and old. Great specials. Amazing in-store performances. One of the best places Austin has to offer.
Great selection, service, and in store music listening.
Great record store. You get choices of new and used cd's records and dvd's
Their selection of CDs, records and cassettes is amazing. I have been here several times but yet I always find a section of the store to discover. They are up to date with new and old records. Local bands perform somedays as well. Great place for everyone to visit even just to look around. Friendly but helpful staff.
A must stop for all visitors in the Austin area!
The epitome of Austin. Check out an in-store, enjoy a cold Shiner, and sample the music at the listening stations before you buy.
a dying breed. their deep selection is impressive, but it's the in-store performances that really wow me. on one recent friday, i saw about an hour-and-a-half of music -- for free!
Very cool environment. If you want to show someone a gem of Austin, take them here.
This is a gem. Take your friend who really knows music and just get lost. This is what makes Austin grest. Not sure if they still do in store shows, but it's super fun if they do.
Great selection of CD's and Vinyl records. Prices for new releases are discounted so new music is obtainable. The store is always worth a visit.
Cheap clobber. Didn't see any avalanches stuff though?
Great record shop like back in the day. Even found the Jam
Great Music Store And More...Positive Vibes And Outgoing Staff!
My absolute go-to location for Vinyl records; perfect for any audiophile. They carry all of your top-chart favorites to even the most obscure of albums, with fair prices as well.
Fantastic record store, compares to Amoeba in SF. Well worth the stop, especially if you are into LPs.
What's not to love about this place? Fair prices, good people
Not my idea of a quality record store, I won t be back.
One of the best brick-and-mortar record stores in the US that I've visited. Great selection, plenty of character. Rarely disappoints.
Great local music store with good selection and tons of lp for sale used and new.
In a town where live music reigns, this is a perfect compliment to the city s music scene with endless selection of every type of music to amazing live music performances. They even have online downloads available if living outside of Austin.
TIP: Mon-Sat 10am-11pm and Sun 11am-11pm.
awesome place to go record diving and searching..sometimes release parties i heard are held here which i have to check out
Always a great place to find CD's, movies and vinyl records. Great local and hard to find items, if they don't have it they will search for it for you.
A classic Austin Landmark. Worth spending some time browsing the aisles and discovering new things
Tons of music tons of records always some thing New. Almost all the pops you cant find anywhere else
Way too easy to get lost in music history here. Good times
Doesn't matter what you're looking for, they have it! Funky little shop that I thoroughly enjoyed browsing!
Best record store in austin! They have almost everything you might look for, both in vinyl and digital. Great atmosphere, awesome people and great service.
Only second time here ever, much better as an adult. Many records and for the most part easy to find what you want. My favorite part really is the weekly rack. They label one section for days of the week, to show when stuff has come in and how long it's been. Found a Dave Brubeck album I had been looking for.
Also near the check out are the cheaper records where my wife found a record she has really been enjoying for 99 cents. They do have record player so you can listen to potential buys, and the gentleman who checked us out was very friendly and kind!
Only downside is, but as most people who buy records are aware of, some vinyls no matter where you go can be pricey.
Definitely a record store to check out.. Huge selection and friendly staff
Every music lover's dream. RECORDS! RECORDS! RECORDS! Give the gift of classic music, and give someone a record. You can always score great deals here too. If I lived closer I'd probably be here on the daily
I first started visiting Waterloo Records in the early 80s. They are serious about great music and about exposing as many people to broad ranges of music, all genres and formats -- vinyl to live. There's no pretentiousness, just a laid back place for everyone who loves music.
I visited recently on a holiday, a rare day off from work. Since I had some time to spend on me, this visit was how I treated myself. I walked out with a new CD (Childish Gambino) and a used CD (Eagles). I pay a monthly fee to Google Play Music and buy the occasional CD from Amazon, but nothing replaces walking into a record store and being immersed in music and creativity -- from the staff picks playing over the speakers to the thousands of album covers inviting me to explore, and the dozens of posters and flyers about live shows on the horizon.
Waterloo Records + Austin City Limits are carrying the torch for Austin, to give us any chance of continuing our reputation as the Live Music Capitol of the world. Check 'em out.
Two full-height bookcases of Criterion DVDs. Three versions of the new Midnight Oil concert video. Cult classics. Looked for one of my favorite Prog artists and it directed me to check out a local band as well. Not the biggest record shop out there, and not as much is used or low-priced as I had hoped. But a lot to check out and be tempted by.
I bought a pair of socks from here before leaving the counter I realized that I left most of my cash at home and wouldn t have enough for lunch I asked if I could take back the purchase bc it hadn t even been 30 seconds and they said they could only give me store credit. Terrible customer service and overpriced goods. I will NOT be coming here again!!
Fun place to be I love the atmosphere and you can have people of all age there because there is stuff for 9 year olds and stuff for 50 year olds and even some stuff for 80 year olds.
Awesome selection of vinyl and CDs. Make sure you join the frequent buyer program to earn discounts.
Awesome shop. My wife and I have a record player at home in Houston and she loves coming here whenever we are in Austin.
Any record store still left standing must be doing something right. I find myself here every couple weeks because there's just nothing like seeing the actual album artwork and browsing a well curated selection of vinyl. Also, Waterloo puts on one of the best SXSW showcases always great live acts and plenty of standing room.
Always has something I m looking for when it comes to CDs. Competitive pricing and fun trinkets to look at. I have so consistently found what I want that in fact I shop here exclusively now after numerous visits. Plus, it s just an Austin staple pure and simple.
One of the best record stores I've been at. Great Staff amd selection. I'll be back
If you're a music lover I would highly suggest visiting here, just for the pure nostalgia; if not anything else.
An Austin institution, and deservedly so! Huge selection, eclectic variety. Knowledgeable and helpful staff that want to hook you up with great music. Great vinyl selection.
Hands down the best record store I've ever visited. Waterloo has the most extensive selection of CDs, vinyl, and DVDs I've seen anywhere. It was overwhelming, really. No matter what you're looking for, from the popular to the obscure, you'll probably be able to find it here.
An Austin icon! You must visit this store if you are a music lover. HUGE selection of vinyl. Great selection of CD's and DVD's and Blu-ray's too. They also have some super cool t-shirts and other collectibles as well. Lots and lots of cool stuff just to look at and buy. I could spend hours here!
Only new records. No hunting. No finding great stuff. Super let down.
I can t reply, so here goes. I struggled mightily to find any sort of semblance of record that were used or remotely useful. I traveled here after visiting many record stores and Waterloo was a very I m going to take advantage of record trends feel. I ve been to so many places that offer an immensely better selection than Waterloo does. I don t leave 1 star reviews lightly but for a company to be reviewed as highly as Waterloo is, I felt people needed to know what they were getting in to. I was more excited to call an Uber out of there than I was to call an Uber to get there.
I was able to find $140 of records at the next store we visited. Without the help of a staffer . I m not helpless, your store just sucks.
They had a bunch of music and film options! Saying that I left with a cd from Nine Inch Nails, LCD Soundsystem, Julie Cruise, The Velvet Underground, Jamie XX, and Oneohtrix Point Never is not necessarily a bad pool to choose from
