Alex Turicchi Review of W Austin Hotel
The valet (which costs $45/night by the way) LOST ...
The valet (which costs $45/night by the way) LOST OUR KEYS THE FIRST NIGHT WE CHECKED IN and we were constantly given the run-around by both hotel and valet management, both of which passed the buck to one another and neither of whom were helpful in actually getting anything resolved. We found out at around midnight that the valet left our keys in another person's car who had since left the premises. They were able to track them down in the morning and relocate the keys and the valet management was able to see that the situation was resolved, but I was ultimately very unsatisfied by the conduct of the management of the hotel itself rather than the valet. When we brought the issue to their attention, they promised to contact us in the morning after losing our keys at night and failed to do so. We had to reach out to them ourselves and were told that the driver of the car with our keys in it had been identified as a guest of a resident, who had been contacted via email. This was not sufficient. It took us going down to the front desk and valet in person to get them to start making phone calls and knocking on doors in order to resolve the situation with the urgency it deserved, and even then we got pushback from the hotel front desk. Losing someone's keys is a SERIOUS issue and we felt like we weren't being taken seriously by the hotel, who seemed more interested in pointing fingers and shuffling around blame than in pursuing a remedy. If the valet management hadn't found our keys there is NO QUESTION that we would've checked out early immediately afterward, as when you're paying $400-600/night and $45 for parking alone this is just a disgrace.
