I wish there was a central directory of all design museums in the EU.

An architectural landmark with cozy views to hills covered with vineyards.
Multiple floors of Vitra productions laid out to try and buy. Information about company, designers available in at least german, english, french.

Great museum for design enthusiasts. Entrance to the VitraHaus is free. You see numerous rooms furnished with Vitra furniture. Additionally, you can get a ticket for the Vitra design museum (changing exhibits) and the Vitra Schaudepot (a warehouse showing hundreds of different chairs). You can get a combo ticket for both (17 /pp). Especially the Schaudepot is worth a visit (of you like chairs ;). There is also the option of a guided tour. The buidlings have been created by famous architects, such as Gehry and Herzog & de Meuron. Well worth a visit.

If you are interested in interior design, architecture or furniture design, you have to go here.
And who goes, should definitely plan for the whole day.
It does not matter which kind of weather - you can watch the show even in the rain, take a tour, or just sit rehearsing.
There are also two nice cafes where you can get delicious snacks and cakes.
The changing special exhibitions are highly recommended.
Overall, you can spend a wonderful day there!

Public transport to the museum is poor, with long delays and unexpected cancellations. Arriving privately is advantageous. The grounds and museum building are stunning! Most chairs can be tried out in the Vitrahaus. very cool!

Lovely way to pass some time in the afternoon. The building itself is gorgeous with extraordinary views, and then it's great to also walk around and check out the furniture on display. We were also there during a really great exhibition about night clubs that was fascinating.

Everything is just right here. Architecture and design are skilfully combined into a symbiosis and represent the skills of Vitra in a special way. Many exhibits can be actively "occupied" and or touched. As a treat, the service and coffee are great. Always my pleasure. Next time I have to take a closer look at the shop.

Really beautiful campus with a very good selection of perfect architecture. Unfortunately, we could only look at the campus from the outside, but that's enough to see all the buildings. The terrain itself is in a very good condition. The next time it goes in any case in the museum.

We didn't realize that this campus if really more like a showroom. There is a small, somewhat interesting actual museum, and then the rest of the place is devoted to showing off the furniture and design of the Vitra company... So you can go buy their products. I don't understand why there is an entrance fee. I do like their stuff a lot, but I don't need to pay a fee to go shopping.

Excellent architectural and design, on German soil but easily accessible by tram from the Swiss city of Basel. If you like architecture and design, it is essential to enjoy the guided tour of architecture, which is the only way to enjoy the many buildings of famous architects that weighs the whole, otherwise it will not be possible to access them. The central building of Vitra, is rather a commercial exhibition of products of the brand. Good restaurant. Set up schedules before going. Expensive, although it seems the opposite coming from the untouchable Basel

The pack entrance museum + tour is very well priced. The tour is in English. Per se in Spanish you have to ask in advance and be a big group. Buying things is not at all affordable, all very expensive.

It is not a university campus, but a job. That is, without factories. You can not visit 100% if you do not pay the tour.

Very expensive entry (17 ) for 2 exhibitions which ultimately show little. The exhibition of the collection of chairs on 3 levels of shelves is really not ideal for a good observation, those at the top are at least 2.5m from the ground.
The staff seemed on edge (Covid-19?), Always giving us feedback on what to do and what not to do. For example, in the shop, we were required to take one basket per person. In fact, if they had explained that it was to count the total number of people at the same time (20), this constraint would have made sense, there, it was quite ubiquitous.
The architecture of the site is interesting.

Very interesting and rich exhibition, with tons of design objects all over the campus. However, the paid exhibitions are not worth their money. The Museum itself costs 11 euro and was rather small and not very exciting. The exhibitions there are changing, so it could be that we visited a boring one, but I would explore more in detail before buying the ticket. The other paid exhibition, Schaudepot, is better and especially the children activity book is worth doing (not only for children :-)). My recommendation; explore all non-paid exhibitions first, then go to the Schaudepot and only then consider going to the Museum.

Nice

The Vitra Museum and Vitra Campus, situated in Weil am Rhein (German/Swiss border) is a must for all lovers of modern iconic architecture, design and furniture design. If you are in the area, don't miss it!
I was lucky to do an architectural tour and can only say "Wow!" A one off collection of iconic buildings by Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, Herzog & de Meuron, Alvaro Siza, Nicholas Grimshaw, SANAA and more masters.
The "Campus", as it is known, is not only a unique architectural museum, but also a working home-furnishings/ furniture factory, home to and where the classic Charles Eames "Lounge Chair & Ottoman" is manufactured.
In addition to the very efficient staff, the place is extremely well organised and visitor friendly.
One can also visit the VitraHaus Cafe/Restaurant, which has a good selection and wide range of regional specialties and light lunch snacks from the region at prices in line with the region average.
The VitraHaus also houses a shop for visitors with a wide range and selection of design objects and iconic furnishings, books and publications at reasonable prices - it is well worth a visit.
Handicapped/Wheelchair visitors are catered for.
Parking is normally not a problem, with dedicated spaces for the handicapped/wheelchair visitors

Children are well catered for and guided tours for young children are also available.

Allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy fully - we needed the best part of the whole day!

The surrounding region is also very idyllic and worth exploring further

What an unbelievable place to go! A short drive or a comfortable tram ride from Basel. The best furniture design space I have seen with a very important legacy. The architecture is not to be missed and the museums have amazing displays.

The shop part of the Museum is wonderful, with lots of different rooms and design features, and walking around the compos between those beautiful architecture marvels always make me happy - don't forget to try the huge out door slide

Wow for those who didn't want to plan a visit. Great sea kids too. A lesson must be devoted throughout the day. A guided tour of the compound is recommended. Great especially for architecture lovers, plenty of buildings in designing the world's best architects.

Obligatory stop for design lovers. The Vitra museum is free for CHF 17 exhibitions. It is not easy to reach it by public transport and Google map does not track the best route, from Basel station take bus 8 and then 55. Ticket is done at the machines.

Amazing space.

For those looking to be inspired by design thinking must visit.
