I had the privilege of refinancing my home with Veterans First and the process was a smooth one thanks to Danielle. All I did was provide the information and she took care of the rest. I was very satisfied with the results.
Stay far away from this company! We have been working with them to purchase a home with a closing of July 10. Just learned yesterday that we will not close as the underwriters have not completed their review. Two days before we were to close and we now do not have a date. Cross country move, so complicated and expensive. Our furniture and household items are enroute and we have no place to put them. Inconvenience is frustrating, but I am livid that we will incur thousands more in moving costs to rent a storage unit and have to pay another moving company to move things yet again due to their mismanagement! Plus lodging, meals, etc. We did our part in a timely manner... They have not!
They've lied to me multiple times, they've told me that I needed all these documents the day before closing when they have had 45 days to get these documents. Can't get a hold of anyone, communication sucks. Veterans please please please go somewhere else.
I've dealt with them 3 times now. Every time the process was beyond easy! They did everything except lick the stamps and sign my name.
Paperwork arrived on the day they said and closed on the day they said. Yes, all three times.
Beware of these scammers particularly that idiot David Hawkes who has been mentioned several times. I regret not heeding the initial warnings. Incredible waste of time and money. They won't be around for long hopefully.
Amazing! That is the word that comes to mind when I think about my home buying experience with Veterans First and Celeste Atkins. I have wanted to buy a home for years, but was apprehensive about taking that first step. This summer I finally talked myself into contacting someone about where I was and what I needed to do to be in the position to become a home owner. I did a web search and found Veterans First. I filled out a simple survey and was contacted by Celeste Atkins a short time later. I told her that I didn t think I could get pre-qualified, but maybe she could give me some advice on what I needed to do to improve my chances to buy a home in the future. She was so understanding and more than willing to see where I was and to offer any advice she could. She went to work immediately and within an hour or so of filling out that first survey, Celeste called to tell me I was pre-qualified and could start searching for my new home! She even put me in contact with a local realtor.
Less than 2 months after that first contact my family and I were moving into our new home! Celeste walked me through every step of the process. She knew I have a job that makes doing business by phone very difficult, but she even had a plan for that and we were able to do much of what needed to be done through email. She even gave me her personal cell number so we could text. Celeste went above and beyond for me as I am sure she does for all her clients. She was always available and ready to answer a question, calm a first time home buyer s anxiety, or just listen quietly as I cried tears of joy when she called to set up the closing date.
Despite the fact that her job was done after I signed those final papers, Celeste has checked in several times to see how the move went, to check on us after a tropical storm and to see how my son s football season is going. If you are looking to buy a home I would highly recommend Celeste Atkins and Veterans First!
I had a great experience working with Veterans First and would work with them again as long as Alek Franks is my loan officer.
Very poor and unprofessional service, not sure how there are so many 5 star reviews on other sites, that is not what I experienced. We were quite far into the mortgage process, Veterans First had the appraisal done, the property appraised for the loan amount. Then almost 3 weeks later their underwriter denies the loan, stating" the comparable properties were not close enough". So even though the appraisal they had done passed with flying colors, it meant nothing. The response from the loan officer was "we can't affect the underwriter's decision". There should be no reason it should have taken 3 weeks to inform me. Now I have to begin the process all over again. Unless you have no other options I would strongly recommend using anyone else.
Just would like to thank Aaron Maughan for the excellent service. He took care of me through the whole process and got me a lower mortage APR than any one of my local lender could give me. Thanks so much.

Where to start with this clown show of a company. They dragged it out for 2 1/2 months. And 20 hours before closing ( that would be the 3rd attempt at closing they always forgot something that needed to be done) they came up with the foundation isn't up to their liking and canceled the loan. 2 1/2 months they didn't know. My genius of a loan officer David Hawks is a special kind of clown. Two hours before they desided to not do the loan he assured me everything was perfect. He's got that kind a voice like smiling in your face while standing you in the back. Beware this company they suck doesn't even scratch the surface of how bad they are.
My family and i were impressed by the services of Zack Jolly and his staff of professional team members. 30 days and we were approved. We now enjoy are new home.
After reading the reviews, I can relate to several. The buyer of my home was approved and went through all the requirements to buy my house... 2 days prior to closing "they needed something else" and nobody would return a call or an email. With their neglect, it cost me a lot of money and losing a house that I was buying. These people are a joke of a company. As a buyer, I won't ever let anyone I know accept a seller's loan from this place.
This was the worst experience that we could have gone through in a loan process. They told us that we are approved. Then they just canceled two days before the closing. The underwriter so unprofessional and the agent the worst. I lost money, time and my house contract. Of course they will send me an email from customer service does not even exist. Don t play with people like that.
Jason Bergstrom is an Angel he was so patient and polite. The other people in the office are great as well but Jason wasn't pushy and very welcoming. We all feel he didn't care about making a sale he was sincerely focused on what was best for us. When I'm ready there's no dought in my mind I'll go through him.
10 of 10!! They were amazing from the first call forward. We were not surprised in any part of the process, Dorothy even made time to contact us in the evenings.
Interest rates were bouncing around daily in March 2020, so I pre-qualified with three different lenders and was trying to pull the trigger with at least one of them at the right time. I was leaning towards a competitor, I had even already ordered an appraisal through them. But David Hawkes, my loan officer, was the reason I ultimately decided on Veterans First Mortgage. He went above & beyond to satisfy my concerns, worked directly with my realtor when necessary, and stuck with me from start to finish. His demeanor was even-keel and his telephone persona was always pleasant. I feel lucky to have had him in my corner during this endeavor.
