Visited with a 2 and a half years old and had a good time. Not everything is interesting for young kids (indeed machinery can be intimidating) but one can easily spend a day thanks to the many kids oriented acrivities, which scale well up, I suspect, up to 13 or so. After that it really depends on one's interests.
As a grown up I found the lack of depth on most descriptions appalling: with so much technology on display, the excessive dumbing down of much of the text was at time frustrating.
For any European standards it's exceedingly overpriced, but in line with local prices.

we actually had a good day. However, if you come 2-3 times a year, it is almost always the same, maybe it would be possible, a little faster to bring a change in, or to allow new attractions. Until the next visit.-

Neat.

Plan to have 4-5hrs to make the most of your visit. There are 5 different buildings each w a different focus of transportation (aviation, space, train, cars, water,...). You will find lots of relevant information and interactive activities.
There is a chocolate exhibit about the history of Swiss chocolate that is worth the extra cost and 20min. We didn't visit the planetarium but it had good program.
Food court and snack bars available.
Good for little, big, bigger and biggest kids and grownups!

Great

Big! You'll need a week to go through all the themes. Located on the premises of is also the Hans Erni Museum. Despite all the technological stuff, this is a very family friendly museum... Lots of museum related toy models of transportation vehicles which kids can put hands on, take rides etc.

Went today and had a terrible experience with a staff member who was so unkind to my child that he ruined the whole experience. Perhaps it was a bit of a race issue, but I am hoping that was not the case. Wanted to love the place but really will not be going back. Let's not even mention EXPENSIVE.

Great place! A lot to see - we have been going there for the last two years and discover something new every time. There are exhibitions about trains, flying machines, including space ones, cars, ships, etc. etc. There is also a playgroung for kids and a lots of hands on activities. In addition to the transport museum there is a planetarium and a Lindt chocolate show and shop. You can easily spend a full day there and do not get to see everything.

The only minor complaint is that, as often it is with this type of places, food in the restaurant is quite average.

Visited here as mid 20 aged tourists from America. LOVED IT. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys planes, trains, automobiles, aquatic and space transportation. Seemed like it was great for kids too. Probably spent 4 hours reading and looking at everything :D

Visited the cinema, but not allowed to take popcorn in (bought in their own shop next to the ticket sales booth!) And not told earphones - to listen in English - are available, despite buying tickets in English. Nice seats.

It's huge! You really need a whole day if you want to see/ experience it all. We were a bit late (unfortunately) because we wanted to see it all but couldn't. The museum part with trains was so nice to see, we also enjoyed the moon landing show in the planetarium and did go on the Swiss Chocolate Adventure (nomnom)!
So please, if you want to visit it all: go early in the morning :)

The Verkehrshaus in Lucerne has a bit of the reputation to be just a good entertainment program for children and with these lines I would like to vehemently disagree because even as an adult you can not only see and experience a lot here but also learn a lot what you first thought to know and it is now evidenced otherwise in the Verkehrshaus is thought up. In addition, really sensationally restored traffic vehicles. From the plane over trains, trains to cars of the highest quality restored. Most, not only look but also touch commit and explore. In addition very much, who wants, to read in order to get even deeper into the matter. Many halls and exhibits that are outside invite you to stroll where you can get there comfortably. I live very close to it and one thinks this is only for tourists but wrong thought! Especially the people who live in Zurich, Lucerne and other agglomerations should do that again "again and certainly everyone will be thrilled and think: Why had not I been there much earlier?

More than 1 day is needed to completely visit this museum. It is filled with things which i had never seen before. One should be ready to walk a lot if he/she is interested in visiting the Swiss Transport Museum. It is a must visit place in Luzern/ Lucerne.

Such a fun and informative museum. There is a planetarium and a film theater with the biggest screen in the world.

Museum divided into four parts; air, railway, water and road transport.

Some fun activities include chocolate experience and flight simulator. Wifi available (did not actually try it). Restaurant in door and a chocolate shop.

We arrived shortly before noon, and the museum closes at 5 p.m. If you want to see everything quietly, arrive at the opening and avoid spending time in the cafet, 4 hours were not enough to see everything! But I recommend this museum !! (despite the price can be a little expensive)

One of the best transport museums even to be seen , and if one is a transport junkey, beware, even if one spends a full day, still it won't be sufficient.
Museum covers all types of transport, starting from rail to road to waterways, to airways
The museum is charges half for swiss rail pass holders

great
