Valleyfair Family Amusement Park Review

Fun rides. Even the Minnesota Gophers football team came to Valley Fair the day we were there.

It's THE thing to do in Shakopee! Lots of great rides. Check it out in October for valley scare. It's something every native born Minnesotan needs to do at least once.

Fun place for the family! Save money & buy online, food, parking & admission.

Didn't know someone rented it out for a private event so I had much shorter day

Always a good time. Steel venom was closed in the morning but opened later in the day! Ate some pizza and fries!

I enjoy this place very much a little spendie but worth ur money and the fact they have a little something for everyone is great

The bands you can get for all you can drink beverages is not water proof Like some of the workers state. The barcodes wear off in the water.

The quote International workers are a mixed bag of tricks some are great, many not so much. Other than that it's the best theme park you can go to within three four hour drive of the Twin Cities. You can literally take kids of all ages here. We started taking our daughter on rides literally as soon as he was able to sit. And now she's 8 years old and still loves going there every single year.

Fun. Clean. Friendly staff. Great rides. Good food, not great, but good. Dippin dots are good.

Honestly not worth it. The food options are ok, the water park is small for he crowds, and the park is old; they haven't added a new coaster in a decade, that's kinda sad. Honestly better value to go to six flags or another cederfair park.

We purchased the Gold Pass and it is worth every penny. Pays for itself almost immediately.

Great rides the food is bad and expensive. They won't let you take your shoes off for the thunder canyon ride they get waterlogged

Fun for everyone!! Be easier to sit in every line but still fun!!

Excellent place to go for ultimate legal rush!! Weekdays very little lines where you can get right back on ride again! So fun! I recommend purchasing a refillable cup all day and if you return different day for $12.99 or close to that.

The rides were pretty fun, but we had to wait almost 30 minutes for thunder canyon to open and once it opened the ride literally lasted only 30 seconds plus only one of us got really wet. Also, I had brought a GoPro along to film going on rollercoasters and swimming, but once I got on the rides they told me I wasn t allowed to film and then when I went swimming I tried to film but the lifeguards whistled at me and said I m not allowed to film! WHY NOT?? Then when we went back to our cars to eat (since you can t bring food into the park!) the stamped our hands, but then when we came back in they said we have to show them our passes! Why did we get stamped then! One more thing, when we went, for some reason, a lot of the rides were backed up and not working, we were going to go on the Wild thing but we didn t get to because it was backed up! The wait for everything was like 30 minutes!! We have gone before and it wasn t that bad but I don t know what was going on with them today! We always go once a year and personally I don t really want to go back now.
For the water park area, it was stuffed there were long lines for everything and there were way too many people, when we got there the waves weren t even working for awhile in the wave pool.

Wow... Talk about slow. First you stand in line to order, which one expects at a theme park. But after ordering waited over 50 minutes for a burger and fries, standing no less. Tried to get refund but kid at counter claimed he did not know how. Oh well I guess it was as least cool in the building.. probably not again.

Monitor bags or wagons, so put what you want in them. Lines were not too bad. Personal was rude and language barrier was an issue. At minimum, pack a picnic and eat outside the park, food is crazy expensive. $8.99 for 4 chicken strips and fries, that's less than good quality. 10.99 for a glass of beer. Yikes!!!

Very clean. Week days short lines . Kid loved rides

Staff is quick and efficient. They are also very attentive to those with little one's accompanying them. We went to snoopy world and the lady tending to the kids train let my boy ride as many times as he wanted and made sure he was strapped in safely every time.

This place is so cool, the rides are amazing and customer service is great. I got food fromn beach bites and the guys who were there treated me well.

Everything is so expensive, lines are long. Security is not very respectful towards customers, infact I had a really unpleasant situation with a security guard that made me and others feel very wronged.

Unfortunately our first ValleyScare visit (and my boyfriends first time ever at the park) did not go so well due to horrible food poisoning. I really wanted to take him back in the summer when the rides will actually be open but now I'm not so sure about that..

Wish we would have done some more research, next trip to Minneapolis we won't forget our swimsuits when we head out to Valleyfair. What a great day. Exhausting, but great. Awesome for little kids, my 6 year old is not the bravest but was able to move up through the rides until she reached her limit. My 11 year old had a blast on the corkscrew and log ride among others.

Great place to spend a day off with friends or family.

Our youth group had a fantastic time at VF! The staff are fun, helpful and work so hard to make each trip special. The park is large enough we never get bored and small enough we can see it all in a day. It's a great spot to have fun.

One of the founding parks of the cedar fair chain, they combined with cedar point to form cedar fair who now runs over a dozen parks. Great selection of rides and very well run

AMAZZZZING!!! My first time getting to ride all of the rides.... Timing was perfect... Not a long wait to go into the rides.

Valley Scare was fun until closer to the end of the night when we encountered two separate situations with very rude staff members. We were shocked to have encountered such a bad attitude from the staff. As we were in one of the haunted areas Berserkers Unleashed one of the actors yelled at our children who were minors to the point to where we were in between thinking is he acting or actually yelling at our children( He yelled very loudly to the point to where his voice screeched Turn Around!! . We realized he was actually yelling at them in a horrific voice when he made a racist statement towards them and said Don t you understand English , which by that point we realized he was actually yelling at them with all his might. It is a haunted place and it was difficult to see towards what direction to go to as it is dark and it was unprofessional & unethical on how he addressed the minors. As we exited that attraction and headed to the corn maze we again encountered another rude staff member at the front of the line who was giving entry. He was trying to address one of the minors that was with us in a rude way so therefore I addressed him and gave him our group quantity and he was very rude and just stated, I do not need to know how many are in your group and I said , I do not know what is real or not because in every single line that we formed tonight we were asked how many people were in our group and that we had already encountered a bad situation he then reconsidered his actions and said Because I know everything! It was a great night and to have this negative behavior thrown at us towards closing time really ruined our night. I understand they encounter a high amount of volume of people but we had no control over people choosing to make it their vocation. We also encountered one of the walking actors harassing one of the minors knowing we were right there he directed himself to him and said
If you touch me you will get kicked out of the park he was not even close to him, the actor walked up to him. The park has many great things to offer but it just really took from the whole experience as our children were upset at these negative encounters. It just makes you believe that there is a lack in ethical behavior and proper training should really be implemented. This park is suppose to be family oriented and with the negative behavior shown by it s own staff it just did not reflect the values that were presented in their advertisement towards family friendliness which is being sold to us under false pretenses and it causes mistrust.

Love going there, but your ticket prices are getting ridiculous!!!

It was a great experience. There were tons of fun things to do. For an amusement park it was decently priced, especially with our discount.

Valley fair was great... buy tickets on line- its cheaper. It received a 3 star because the all day dining was not worth the money. Limited selection of food, did not include drinks and was a waste of money.

A fun place to visit and hang out at with all your friends. The major downside is how incredibly expensive the place is. All food it $10 or more for even the smallest of dishes, and just to get in its upwards of $50! It's fun to visit, but make sure to bring your check book!

Amazing time! I go nearly every year and each time is just as exciting as the last.

I *beep* love the roller coasters and the power tower! Soak city there is always a good place to cool off. Food is alright but bit pricey, at least if you make one purchase for the souvenir cup its free refills all day!

The best ride is the biggest ride. The spinning rides however, are bound to cause nausea.

The park was a blast with two small kid's! The Halloween event was awesome as well. My young girls (8 & 3) loved the haunts and all the ghouls running around the park at night! Also we enjoyed all the places we ate at. We'll definitely be back.

I worked in Cinnabon in 2017. Best summer ever, though the park was smaller than Cedar Point.

Excellent Park! Some really great coasters, lines aren't super long, staff was friendly and did not take short cuts with safety. Fairly good variety of rides, but not the most extensive park in the world. Fun and varied entertainment apart from amusement rides and fair games, such as show dogs, that happen at multiple times throughout each day. Great park maps with numerous places to pick one up. Food in the park is proceed as expected with a park like this not cheap, but not outrageous. There are plenty of options when it comes to food, so everyone should be able to find something they will enjoy. There are season passes available that are a fairly good bargain if you plan to come three or more times a season. This park is operated by a larger corporation (Ceder Fair) that operates many other parks, including the roller coaster lover's park: Ceder Point. Why I've included this is because they offer a season pass that grants unlimited admission into all the parks they operate. It's actually a good deal if you want to go to a few parks in a summer, especially if you want to go a few days to each park to get the full experience of each.

Only outdoor amusement park in twin cities. Expensive, but fun for young and old alike.

Went to valleyscare 2019. Waited in the line to get in to the lot for over an hour, waited another 30 to get parked and actually in to the park. Started walking around, excited to see what haunted houses they d have this year. Turns out, they have lights, fake pumpkins and Target ghost figures. But no haunted houses. At all. No haunted walkways, no houses and only ran in to two ghouls. If it hadn t been 60 in Minnesota, we would have turned around and gone home. Even having already paid. 2 and a half hour wait to get in, 1 hour wait per ride, $60. Sad to say that my birthday tradition, of 12+, won t be continued on next year. Refunds, not including another free pass to the park, would be fantastic.

Did Valley Scare and it was a ton of, but after a bit one scary house is as good as the next, and it stops being scary really.

It is an amusement park.... find something that amuses you, there is a lot to choose from.

The roller coasters were amazing and the water park was do much fun too!

Very fun place to enjoy some great rides. If you live close, get the year pass and enjoy the park all year. Take your kids or go on a date. I highly recommend it.

Valleyfair definitely has some good rides! I had some of the best memories in my life there.

Hour wait for anything. Including food. I guess if you like standing around for hours come here.

It's best to arrive early, close to opening at q 10, less wait time for rides. If you know someone who has a season pass you usually can get cheaper tickets with thw bring a friend pass. Season pass holders also do not pay for parking which is nice.

Do not buy unlimited drinks pass. After certain time of day, fountain drink are watered down. I will never purchase pass again.

So upset! Valleyscare used to be scary. This year it's all about money! They over sold tickets and it took hours to get on a single ride. Parking was full and filled into cornfields!!!
No refunds available, and I've been going there for years! The staff even acknowledged and told us tickets were over sold. It's too bad good things never last long. 150$ down the drain for 3 tickets!

Great place for family. Rides for everyone. Tried the water park for first time, slides we great, tube rides were very thrilling. Definitely worth the time to hang out at the waterpark part of the park. Food was solid but overpriced as you come to expect. The only issue I have is the gnat problem is horrible. I have come here for years and have never been annoyed that much at the park. Definitely hindered the experience. My group of 20 made comments all day about it. Definitely make sure if your in town or haven't been in 2-3 years it has changed and for the better.

Good place to visit and alot of fun rides. Beer is only sold in one location and cannot be carried throughout the park so plan to tailgate if you want to drink

They steal your money, went there last weekend, bought the tickets online, they didn't work, the desk couldn't help us because there was no trace saying we bought the tickets, other than the barcodes on my phone and the money missing from my bank account. Called customer service they said they would refund me the money still no hint of the money coming back into my account.
