It was a great experience. But, just not 100% my type of place. The food was very good, but just a bit overprice. It's high priced dinning, so you rarely get what you pay for; which isn't a value in and of itself.

Absolutely a great dining experience!

Absolutely a great dining experience!
First of all, our server Robert was so great! So knowledgable about the dishes, so kind and warm, and such a genuinely nice guy! The food was fantastic! We had the following:
* Salad of Royal Red Shrimp - delicious!
* Potato Gnocchi - delicate and divine!
* Hot & Sour Shrimp Dumplings - we asked for them to be a little extra spicy and they were soooooo good! It makes my mouth water thinking about this dish and the wonderful broth they were in. I would order 3 orders of this next time and just eat this with the french bread to dip into the juice!
* Pork Loin - this wasn t my favorite but I m just not a fan of medium cook on pork dishes and that is the way this one is done, on purpose - but this one is brined first, then roasted to medium so if you like it that way, you will love this one.
* Roasted Swordfish - OMG this was amazing! It comes in a smoked beef marrow juicy roux and it was heavenly!
* Chocolate tart - Yumm!
* Cornmeal Chess pie - Double Yummm! (Those popcorn crispy things with the popcorn ice cream...get out!)
LOVED this place!
Oh PS: We dressed nicely and husband wore suit and tie but the table next to us had men dressed in jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes - so there is no enforced dress coat - we didn t mind.

Tasty fare inspired by local specialities. Plates are small so you can actually have appetizers and mains. Main restaurant is terribly and sophisticated: doubt you can wander in with shorts and a T-shirt. Bar is a great option, but still not that casual.

This is hands down one of the best restaurants I have been to (and I've been to some great ones in L.A., Chicago, NYC, London, and Paris. I don't think my review can do it justice, but the food, service, and ambience are virtually perfect. It isn't cheap, but I've spent more and gotten far less many times before. If you're in the area I would make this a food destination non-negotiable.

Had one of the BEST meals here last week. Went for lunch, they have a prix fixe menu. Everything was impeccable. The decor is pleasing, the food superb, and the service was spot on. We highly recommend and will definitely visit when we come back to NO

We reserved a party there for 35 VIP business partners at the commencement of a trade show. Everyone enjoyed the food and ambiance of the charming building.
The staff was attentive yet unobtrusive, I'm sure that even our boisterous gaggle of revelers hardly challenged their hosting skills.

I was sadly disappointed here. We arrived a bit early and weren't greeted very nicely so we waited outside and came back when it was time. Ordered one regular tasting menu and one vegetarian tasting menu. The vegetables were sour and made my stomach hurt. I actually went out and got bread after. After hundreds of dollars we weren't full or impressed. The wait staff was courteous and the interiors were beautiful which took the edge off.

Update: I reached out to the general manager at the email provided but received no response...

This restaurant has become my new favorite restaurant, beating the previous Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, and also restaurants such as Daniel and Le Bernardin in NYC (by far).

Enjoyed the Foie Gras 3 ways and gnochi as starters. The raspberry jam blended very well with the foie gras, and the mousse was silky smooth and tasty. The mains we had were Porks and Trout. Both dishes were very well done. Trout with wild mushrooms, breaded and butter source. Pork were done three ways, loins steaks (soft and juicy), sausage and belly (light and silky).

The deserts were also great. Banana pudding was very flavorful and not too sweet, and the Souffle was perfectly done, which is rare even in good restaurant. Overall a very memorable experience.

This was probably the best meal I have ever had! The dishes were fabulous, and all the ingredients were distinct and pure. We had the gnocchi with blue crab and truffles, the slow roasted rabbit angoletti, as well as the duck and grouper. Everything was absolutely delicious!!!

Lunch with friends in beautiful August. Relaxing, upscale atmosphere with excellent service. Wish there were white tablecloths everywhere but you can count on them here.

Had the squash ravioli with a tequila specialty drink. Wanted to spend the rest of the day looking out and visiting but alas, there was shopping to do!

Excellent service, nice, well-kept atmosphere, great food and wine. In the high price segment: starter around $ 18, main course around $ 45, glass of wine around $ 22.
Reservation recommended! Was a nice experience for the palate, eyes and soul.

The service and atmosphere was incredible! To our surprise, the waitress even had a special dessert prepared for our anniversary (which was delicious!) and the other courses were great as well. I would recommend August to anyone looking for a special dining experience in New Orleans !

Service so bad that nobody wants to stay for the food. We were reminded repeatedly that, despite the reservation that we arrived early for, we were an imposition on the kitchen, because as you can see, we're empty. We were greeted with Oh, you re here and that we would need to eat quickly. It was completely rude, and I don t need to pay money to be insulted. That s probably why they re empty on a Friday night in New Orleans.

Amazing dining experience and the highlight of our trip to New Orleans. The staff was extremely knowledgeable on all dishes and made you feel like home the entire meal. The food was exploding with flavor, texture and aroma. The dessert was also very creative and tasty. You cannot beat this place, it is well worth the price.

Exquisite dining at its finest!!! August is an amazing restaurant in the heart of the New Orleans action. From the delicate beet salad to the perfectly cooked red snapper served in an amazing presentation. We topped it off with the incredibly yummy Brown Betty. The service was impeccable, their sommelier, Erin, helped us pick a fine bottle of wine. Every need was attended to perfectly. You will not be disappointed.

Visiting New Orleans, came here based on a friends recommendation. Started with some excellent fried oysters and gnocchi that was too mushy for my taste. Flounder entree with fennel on the side was also very good. Service was decent, but the experience is over priced for what you get.

I went to Restaurant August to try out the Coolinary Menu. I had the corn and crab bisque (which was more bisque than anything else). It had good flavor though. The potato crusted blackfish was average, but it was so small. It came with a sad looking salad and 1/3 of the plate was filled with a random sauce. It was confusing. I had the devil s food cake for dessert. I m not usually a chocolate person, but it was pretty good. I had the Lavender Ford to drink. It was a twist on a French 75, good but I would have appreciated more of the lavender flavor. My 2nd one did not taste like the first and I had to send it back. The replacement tasted much better. Overall, the meal was decent but I cannot see myself going again.

Got a steak with fermented black beans. It was not to my taste.
They made me a whole new steak no questions asked.

I m glad as it was a $60 steak.

Not great how small the sides portioned out for the expensive cost.

I love the food! Wagyu Hanger Steak is a must! And the Roasted Garlic Custard with Champagne Foam and Cajun Caviar looks so cool and really delicious! Great service too! We were seated on the back room which felt like we were dining inside a train, which maybe because our reservation was made the night before. Would be awesome if we were in the front room where the ambiance looks amazing! I will defintely go back to August!

Great dinner. Ben, our server made great recommendations which all turned out delicious. Only downside to our meal was the obnoxious table across from us who felt everyone needed to hear their conversations.

Back-to-back negative reviews regarding the servic...

Back-to-back negative reviews regarding the service aren't a coincidence! Unless your general appearance suggests that you've stepped directly off a plantation, you will not be treated well here. Our waiter graced us with his presence exactly 1! time to take our order, and that's it. Meanwhile, my best friend and I observed him hovering over every other party assigned to him making sure they wanted for nothing. The best part came as he brought back our credit cards he took several seconds to observe the name on my card, and in an effort to sound cultured something he so clearly wanted others to believe he is he attempted to pronounce my last name (and completely botched it). Oui, I guess basic French isn't part of New Orleans fine dining school.

I work in public relations and my best friend is a psychologist, but we were treated as if we were beggars off the street because I was wearing jeans. My bank account remains the same regardless of what I'm wearing although I'd be $18 richer if I had forgone the gnocchi dish that was the size of my palm. There is a reason that your restaurant is half-empty on a Saturday night recognize that.

decor bare. amuse-bouche the best anywhere! wife's beet salad amazing. my gnocchi the best i've had, & we just got back from eating it all over italy. foie 3 ways best cold foie anywhere. wife's duck great! my pork belly ok, but too much going on. napoleon, rum cake & pain perdu were great. servers well informed, attentive, but organization is odd. had someone different serve each dish. all knowledgeable, very nice, but evening felt impersonal.

Lunch at Restaurant August is always a special occasion for us. The food, the service, the ambience all all too notch. We almost always get the prix fixe meal with a glass of wine, as we did on this occasion. My wife started with the Brussels sprouts salad and it was very different from any Brussels sprouts dish either of us have had. The sprouts had been either blanched or sous vide. They were shreaded

One of my favorite restaurants in the world! The potato gnocchi with crabmeat, parmesan and shaved truffle is transcendent! And the signature Ponchatrain flounder is a religious experience. All of this is an elegant and warm dining room. You will love August!

Just enjoyed a beautiful meal at August! The hubs treated me to August for my birthday. This place is wonderful and worth the extra money.
We started with drinks. I had the Lavender Ford. The balance between lemon and lavender was stunning. Not too floral and not too citrus. Anything with lavender often gets too floral but not this time.

Our amuse bouche egg cup was like the best part of an everything bagel with cream cheese. Delicious garlic & scallion.

I had the spanish octopus with Benton Bacon as an app. The bacon was smokey but sweet stunningly good a d the octopus was perfectly cooked and delicious.

My flounder ponchatrain was great but not stunning, but my husbands duck dish was our of this world!

We asked for a wine pairing with our meal and that elevated our meal for sure! The sommelier knows her stuff!

I finished with the pavlova and it was light and citrusy and beautiful. The candied ginger sorbet and lime flavor just dance on your palate beautifully.

August is worth it! Come here,

I have heard from Swing LifeWay that he has traveled the entire world, and he will come back to Restaurant August every time he comes back to New Orleans. He has tried restaurants all over the world, not the country, but all over the world, and he really enjoys Restuarant August. He is so right. More right than anybody had ever been left. So right....... soooooo right. Zeke really did serve us the best food I have had in all of New Orleans though. Regardless of how stupid this review is.

Good food, well-prepared and a lovely setting but service was disappointing and rushed! The head waiter took the wine glass from my husband s hand as he took his last sip! They served us coffee after dinner only if we agreed to depart to finish coffee in the bar if the next table occupants showed up! Can t imagine any truly exceptional restaurant EVER acting this way! Unbelievable! Don t bother wasting time and money for this WAY over rated restaurant. There are too many other fabulous restaurants that even appreciate their patrons. Awful experience!

Went there during a trip to Nola for Mardi Gras because a very talented chef friend from SF highly recommended. We enjoyed the dishes, had steak, swordfish and foie gras. Great experience, would definitely eat there if I'm in Nola again.

I d consider this more of an experience than a meal. Robert was impeccable at bringing the menu to life, and helping to ensure we were comfortable with our selections. From there, everything was perfectly executed on, from appetizer to desert, and even the drink pairings. The plates were smaller, however, I was quite full since the flavours were so rich. Great place to take your significant other, would highly recommend!

Terrible, Horrible, the pitts.
Stale bread sticks and flat coke.
I have had better dinners at places with take out windows.

Bland food with mediocre ingredients, there are better choices on the other side of Canal Street.

Wow......These people know their stuff. A world class restaurant. From their original take on a Pisco Sour on arrival, feasting on every small but perfectly formed course and meticulous yet warm service my wife and I were thrilled.
Never has a simple garden salad been so flavorful. Soft shell crab was crazy delicious and my wife's wagyu hanger steak was exceptional. Desserts were both original and 10 out 10! Best fine dining experience we've had anywhere in the last 12 months.
