Had a Christening function here and the food was all fantastic. Good service and we had a great time.

Just had a lovely lunch with a close friend who had not been here. She and I both had mushroom risotto with a side salad of ruccolo and pear. Just beautiful. We resisted the sweets but I had a florentine with my coffee and both were great. Ambiance here is always welcoming and the two ladies serving are so very pleasant. Thanks ladies...we will return

Excellent experience. Friendly well informed staff. Eight for dinner. A wide selection of dishes was chosen and everyone was pleased with their choice. Wine list very reasonably priced across a wide range of styles. Wouldn't dream of criticising anything about the evening. First class!

Overpriced and poor service. The food is very good but too expensive for what you get (eg. $16 for a small portion of herb bread). While the staff are friendly they were stressed with either 3 asking me the same question or none in sight when I was ready to order. It was crowded and noisy and we were pushed to the edge to accommodate too many customers. To top the night off I asked 2 of the staff for the bill, and eventually paid. Then when I left another staff member stopped me on my way out to ask if I had paid.

Not flexible with changes on the menu. Service is very average. Would not go back.

Waitress had a very heavy Asian accent and trying to explain Italian food was not good . $20 for a herb pizza is really steep . Meals were small and expensive . Desserts were nice but very expensive . Service was good . Sat opposite the street so every oncoming car shone their lights into my face . Kitchen was awfully noisy . Not going back

Lovely food in the front bar area. The pork schnitzels were massive but cooked to perfection. Great friendly service.

Food was great but service let it down. We felt rushed and were seated right up against another couple despite plenty of other free tables around.

They refuse to make any variations to the menu. Even the steaks must be cooked as Medium Rare. This to me this implies that the meals are at least partially pre-cooked which is not acceptable for a restaurant this high-end.
The meal I had was ok. We had the function room and the appetisers were good but I didn t like the main or the desert. If they had of simply let me have the hanger steak with no gravy and cooked medium (instead of medium rare), I would have been much happier with the meal and likely have left a 4 or 5 star review.
One thing I thought was exceptionally good though was the wait staff. They were very friendly and regularly checked to ensure we hadn t run out of water or the drink we were having etc.

Went there to have my lunch from their tapas menu today.
I ordered smoky sweet potato hummus, and spiced chicken bites.
I received sweet potato wedges instead of hummus, and the lady who claimed she is the owner said there is no hummus today, and if I am happy to take the wedges, and I said that s fine.
Then instead of spiced chicken bites, I received satay chicken skewers. I did not mention it, as I understood it s a busy day and I can survive with what I ve got. The story started on checking out. A waitress gave me a bill just for the chicken, she said because it was a mistake from them, they gave the wedges to me as a complement. I gave her a note, then the owner came and charged me the wedges as well, she gave me my change with a new invoice, without any explanation. I asked her what s the story, as your waitress said the wedges is complimentary. She said I am the owner and I did not say it s complimentary. Then I mentioned the wrong chicken I received and she said, next time order to me as the others have no idea about the tapas menu. IT WONT BE A NEXT TIME, THAT S FOR SURE. THE RUDDEST , MOST UN-PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A RESTRAURANT. UNBELIEVEABLE!

Good food but very busy with long wait for service and very cramped seating

Great food, good service but pricey for a local restaurant. No BYO.

I went out for dinner here two nights ago with my family and really enjoyed the food. However I unfortunately got food posioning from the salmon and when I called up the restaurant to speak to the manager to let them know, I was promptly told that I did not have food poisoning and that it was probably just too rich for me, or if I did have it I got it from somthing else (I had not eaten anything out of the ordinary for the past few days). I am a pescatarian and eat fish on a regular basis, and i have had that type of salmon before. I found it rather rude to be told that I did not have food poisoning even though I had been throwing up for at least six hours and had to go to a 24 hour pharmacy at 3am. I wasn t going to take this public, but after the way the manager had spoken to me and dismissed me I felt this was my only option. I will not be coming back here again after that treatment.

Went for dinner during the week, we didn't book so we were seated in the bistro area which has an elegant moody vibe, with crisp white table cloths and low romantic night I got. We enjoyed a share platter with wine and then went straight to dessert! Both were great, would visit again.

Good food and service, felt rushed to eat and enjoy the meal.

Thank you to Myrto and her team for putting on an amazing function for my daughter's 21st. Fabulous food, wonderful service and attention to detail was very much appreciated.

Went yesterday for lunch. Had "four tastes of the ocean" for an entree and the "duck trilogy" for a main course. The four tastes were fresh, raw items with well matched sauces and accompaniments. Especially liked the salmon and tuna. The duck was delightful, with a nice contrast of textures and flavours. Good service.

I had the please of eating here last night. Absolutely sensational food, great atmosphere and fantastic service... Would definitely recommend!

Va Tutto thank you for such a lovely Sunday lunch. I booked last minute and they could fit 20 of us in no problem at all. The service was fantastic and the food all came out the same time and was wonderful. Would not hesitate to go back.

I had dinner here for Valentines day and the food was Amazing, and the staff very friendly. I've dined in some of the best restaurants in Australia, and this is definitely right up there. I think I've found my next function venue.

Super expensive for a pasta sauce that was so watery it looked like it was made with tomato soup. My friend and I got two different sauces (vegetarian sauce and a beeg ragu) and they looked exactly the same. Plus the smell of the toilet air freshener dominated the resteraunt. Pasta was cooked well though and staff were nice.

Introduced to Vatutto and has become one of my favourites. My favourite dishes are the stuffed zucchini flowers, oysters, steak and the pavlova is to die for.

High integrity food and brilliant service. We have been rolling this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed by the food or service.

I had the pasta marinara takeaway, loved it was the best pasta marinara I've ever had, highly recommend it.

I recently held my daughter's Twenty First celebration at Va Tutto.

The manager of the restaurant, contrary to some of the reviews on here, was lovely, warm and perfectly accommodating. She endeavoured to make our night as wonderful as we hoped it would as she too wanted us to have a Fantastic evening as any Twenty First should be.

The Food was superb and generous. The Drinks were excellent and the table service was immaculate.
When it was time to give speeches and cut the cake, we were graciously given privacy from the other diners.

All in all, it was a Magnificient night and I would highly recommend dining at Va Tutto.

AMAZING! VaTutto delivers a 5 star experience in all aspects of fine dining. I have been here many times for lunch and dinner and most recently had a family function hosted. The function menu is off-the-charts! The wait staff are without fault. A truly exceptional experience.

Wow. Absolutely the best takeaway I ve ever had. Beautifully presented. Totally delicious food.

Meals were poor and vegan options were thin on the ground. I got the feeling that the staff looked down their nose at me for being vegan. There was no reason for such a meat heavy menu, it just came across as gross.
The desserts were impressive though, salvaged the meal and they did have vegan gelato at least.

This is the best restaurant in Ivanhoe. I have dined here for years and can only praise the food and service. The food is sensational as is the wine list in both the bistro and fine dining. The service is first class and Myrto the hostess is very welcoming. I highly recommend dining at Vatutto for a romantic dinner or to celebrate any occasion.

Came for breakfast and we're disappointed. Very slow service and food hasn't impressed either:(( Ivanhoe cafe and Strada are much better options. Dinner was not bad though. I'd say 2 stars for breakfast, 4 for dinner, average- 3.

Servers rushing for choices of drinks and food, felt like we were unwelcome and asking for ice to go in water felt like we were asking for too much. Menu is too inconsistent and the restaurant isn't sure if it's Italian or Asian. Unable to make any changes to the menu even if allergic.

Had lunch there today and whilst the food was ok it was quite expensive. The kicker was when it came time for desert. The waitress who was serving us the same person as in the picture outlined the special dessert.

Unfortunately I was on the other side of the table and when I politely asked if she could say it again I received a very blunt - I am not telling you again and she walked off.

I then didn't receive the capacino I ordered.

Lunch for 6 came in at about $980 dollars with rude service thrown in.

Testy and inventive food options of an Italian and Oriental flavour. Some dishes being kinda fusion and others the chefs take on a classic. Been a good few times now and it never disappoints.

We had a work function / dinner here (around 20 of us) and the wait staff / chef made us all felt so welcomed even though we were a bit messy and too happy! The dishes were fantastic and the desserts were to die for! Very attentive and friendly staff in a suburban restaurant with good food? Only here in vatutto!

Just had the best takeaway meal EVER from Vatutto tonight! Every dish was beautifully prepared and utterly delicious! We enjoyed our favourites and finished off with their famous pavlova. Yum!!!

The design of the place is good, food are very heavy, so you won't find anything light in the menu. Some of the staff freely cross the line of common sense and asking a lot of private and inappropriate questions. Most of people coming to restaurant to share nice moment with family or friends but not to build the relationship with waiters and been interrogated about your private live. In restaurants you expected to be treated as a guest not as a mate from someone's childhood. I guess people are different and someone would like this approach but you cannnot barge in to someone's comfort zone with silly questions. Keeping professional and respectful attitude to guests is essential. Little bit disappointed with the way how staff acting with they guest. You cannot treat people same way as in fish and chips. It was my personal opinion.

I couldn't fault the food everything was yummy. The service was good, staff were friendly. The prices are a little on the high side but we had a great night we will be back.

I recently cancelled my reservation after being spoken to rudely by the manager - not for the first time either. There are too many great restaurants with great customer service to return here.

Been here a handful of times. Always walked out dissapointed which is a shame as i love good food accompanied with customer service. Unfortunately i found the food average at best accompanied by poor service. The manager had the nerve to ask me if i enjoyed it but not ask what was wrong...

Rude staff, stale food. Waited 20 minutes for someone to bring a menu out, and 1 hour for a small piece of steak that cost $40, and they forced a $11 bottle of sparkling water on us. Would give negative 50 stars if possible.

Most of the food was amazing... what wasn t was the chicken ribs, stuffed zucchini flowers and the figs. Wine was beautiful. Service was ok to average and very suburban!!! But still the best for a suburb in Melbourne. Worthy of the occasional visit

Exceptional service and food is amazing - leave room for the pavlova !

Come for the food. Walk out without the food because of the poor service. It tries to be upmarket but the wait staff are holding it back. The blonde manager greeted us immediately and gave us a table. The waitress gave us a drinks menu and asked what do we want to drink. Warning sign. We said, as always, we'll look at the menu then decide what to drink. And we waited. And waited. After 10 minutes I motioned to the manager for menus and was ignored. Five minutes later she walked behind me and I asked for menus and she hissed "wait your turn". She then went back to chat with her favourite customers or friends and eventually sent someone around with menus. We should have left at that point and found somehere else to enjoy our evening. Instead we ordered the food and a bottle of sparkling. Food was delicious. Then we tried ordering dessert. My wife asked for liquor coffee with Cointreau. The Chinese waitress said we don't do iced coffee. What? We didn't ask for iced coffee. Yes you did. No, we didn't. When the liquor coffee came, it was piled high with whipped cream, which absolutely ruined the coffee and the rude service ruined our night. Go elsewhere. You can do better.
