They left a patient (my dad) who can't move (arms and legs) in front of my door. It's cold and snowing today!!!!!!!!!

Today my dad can leave this hospital after a week stay. The social worker (her name is ELS) ordered a taxi for my dad that will arrive at the hospital between 13 and 15 o'clock to pick him up. We arrived at the hospital around 13 o'clock and the nurses told us that my dad left 20 min ago (12h40)????!!!!

We called the social worker to inform why my dad left 20 min earlier than expected and agreed. She wasn't aware so she called the taximan and tells us that the taximan will wait.

Soon later i received a call from an unknown number with my dad's voice telling us the taximan just left. he was alone in front of the door!!!

So i called the social worker again that this is not acceptable. She told me she can't do anything and she assumed that we are home to welcome him. Let's make this more clear.
She finds it logic that when someone ordered a taxi for a patient to leave the hospital that the family will be home!!!!!!!!
She never asked us about this!!!!!
She told us this and said she can't do anything. Sorry but there are plenty of ways to help this.
e.g. by calling the driver again and tell him to stay or or or....
She seemed not to be aware that leaving a patient who can't move in front of a door is NOT OK!! especially with the weather condition of today!!!

Luckily a neighbour saw my dad there alone and watched over him. I didn't know my neighbourhood. We are new people arriving there in the area.

After a couple of calls with the social worker i suggested that it's better not to assume (without asking) that the family will be home to pick up the patient. Instead of being sorry for it she told me: it's better not to order a taxi the same day of leaving the hospital... WHAT?!!

I'm really disappointed in the service and the irresponsibility that this social worker Els provided/showed us and

IT'S NOT OK TO:
1 ordered a taxi but not being aware that the taxi came earlier
2 letting the patient (who can't move ) leaving the hospital with a taxi man without any confirmation of the family
3 for assuming that the family will be home
4 Leaving a patient who can't move alone at the destination
5 not even sorry about the situation and putting the responsibility away

I will NEVER order a transport with this service of this hospital. It's pitty that such a good hospital with excellent medical care and doctors has such a irresponsible social worker.

I know that probably the service of complaint won't even read my complain.

But I sincerely hope nobody's dad, mom or children will ever be in this situation. Especially in the medical world where responsibilities have such a big impact. Medical care people are really trained by themselves to pass/shift the responsibilities or making excuses that it's not their fault.

The ladies at the reception are very nice, but unfortunately the provision of doctors (department gynecology) is zero. I did a rather painful examination that was not done by the same gynecologist, but by an apprentice. The apprentice did this for the first time and did not even know what she was doing exactly. Fortunately, the gynecologist was there to "monitor" his trainee. A little advice for the future, before putting a trainee to do your job, show him how to do it.
The gynecologist gave her opinion at the end of the exam, but as it is an examination that is prescribed by another specialist, she told me "In 10 days your doctor will receive the report". They have passed 3 weeks and nothing. By contacting UZ Brussel to understand why my doctor still does not have the report I learn that the report is not yet written. The secretariat told me that the report will be done * as soon as possible *. I seriously wonder if the gynecologist at UZ Brussels has memories of what she did 20 days ago. Honestly, I have doubts about the quality of the report that will be sent.
PS The mediation service of UZ Brussel can not be found on the internet. Are they overflowing with dealing with patient complaints?

Had to go here at 4 in the morning with my friend who was having an allergic reaction. The service was quick and the staff was really helpful and friendly. Plus, although it's a Dutch hospital, they speak English as well.

After 4 different diagnoses and 2 operations, they still have not been able to resolve my mother's problem. She is in pain and the nurses are plagues who make her wait hours for her painkillers and when she finally receives them, she tells him that it is no longer worth calling them because she will not come in the next 2 hours .
His ambulance transfer from Valida had been organized and despite that, he had to wait 6 hours in the emergency room before being able to access his room! In short, this hospital does not deserve its good reputation. To flee.

Waiting 6 hours in an emergency for an answer that they can't do anything about my illness (they let me wait without food) and got an answer if I don't think I should go to another doctor / hospital in a rude way

The Flemish language is not a barrier, I have always been well received and well taken care of. Even as a visitor, even after the hour it does not bother. Not to mention the presence of my ants at the birth of their little brother. A great moment of pride. Thank you UZ.

We went to the emergency room following a sharp pain with a slight edema of the left upper limb of my partner Toscano Giovanna ... It was 11 p.m. and she was finally taken care of at 3:15 a.m. by a young intern who posed a completely wrong diagnosis.

After explaining to her that she had had a small wound near the wrist a week earlier, the arm had become very painful since the early evening. (We are in the field of lymphedema problem of the lower limbs that my partner has clearly specified).

I suspected at least a superficial phlebitis and he, he simply concluded that it had absolutely nothing and that a few dafalgans would be enough to solve the problem.

Faced with this more than doubtful diagnosis and the increase in pain, she went to see her doctor today. He directly found the reason for the condition: lymphangitis.
The emergency blood test revealed a bacterial streptococcal infection that entered via the wound into lymphedema.
Fortunately the infection has not yet passed into the circulatory system, which could have led to sepsis.

I am outraged by the lightness and incompetence of this young intern who takes pleasure in his certainties as a medical doctor, which seems to give him the right to treat his patient like a mythomaniac and to ignore absolutely nothing symptoms and insistence that led her to come to the emergency room for the first time in her life to be treated.

Too bad that zero rating is not possible

A huge thank you to the general practitioner for the relevance, the foresight, the listening which enabled him to make the right diagnosis directly.

I put 1 star because impossible to put zero. Incompetent emergency service. The waiting room is not empty
My pregnant companion was uncomfortable, the paramedic felt it was an urgent case ... arrived at the UZ ... more than 6 hours waiting ... and we are still waiting ... j ' ask a nurse to know what it is, his answer "ha I do not know, you have to wait" ... never had such a long wait in any other hospital even during a holiday or other. No service to cry and politeness as well as a public toilet at the edge of the highway during the summer holidays.

Nice hospital, neat and clean.

Nice hospital, neat and clean.
However, it is obvious that Francophone patients are less welcome than Flemish, a pity ...
The quality of care is not at the level of decor: many medical errors. Is the medical staff really competent?
A Germanic rigor, which should not take place in a care facility.

In spite of myself, I experienced the maternity and newborn service. It was very good! I thank them for the good care received!
Apart from the works that make access rather complicated as well as the paid car parks (too expensive) I am rather satisfied with this hospital.

Never go to the emergency room at this hospital. My father died there while he was stabilized in the ambulance! Very miserable emergency reception, we let you drag yourself to the reception and then we quietly ask you for your contact details while you are giving up!

Staff incompetent and unpleasant in the maternity ward, no professional and irresponsible conscience, my wife was ready to give birth and they found every time an apology for not taking it in hand! We had to change hospitals while my wife was working, it's just outrageous! while Saint Luke directly took care of us the same day and everything went well. Thank you Saint-Luc and never again the UZ to discourage!

Excellent Dutch-language hospital (where of course you are also helped in French). You can sometimes wait a long time for the emergency service, if it is not life-threatening you better go to the waiting station of the Flemish GP (in the Broekstraat in Brussels)

I advise a very good midwife to consult Kristel Joseph she is very attentive, does what you ask and very kind and an elder who was there also Nelson Rabbachin .. the others not !! They force you to have a midwife who comes to the house outside that I absolutely don't want it and I won't take it, it's not up to them to decide for you! Oh yes and they force you to breastfeed what I won't see I don't want! everyone is free to do as they please.

Several experiences in emergencies. The first went well but I spoke to them in Dutch. Other times, I prefer to communicate in French because the medical terms in Flemish are not easy. So, the last two times, I was very poorly supported with a waiting time of 5 hours. The personal is not always competent, I even left once without even knowing what my son had because they themselves could not tell me. It's scandalous!!!
