Loved the Seal and Polar bear experience. Fun for kids.
They have rough legged hawk in a 6 by 12 cage!
Wow!
This animal has a 50 mile range. And the generous folks at Hogle Zoo have given it 6 x 12 feet!
WHY IS THAT?
This is a pretty well maintained zoo. The bird show is fun, kinda fun to see the same bird trainer still doing it from when I was a kid. Kids had a blast. Definitely go early in the day so you can see the animals move around and eat etc. They get pretty sleepy in the heat of the afternoon.
ADULTS: GO DURING ZOOBREW. You're welcome in advance!
So much fun! A great time, lots to do and the animals weren't sleeping! Highly recommend going before it gets too hot
Absolutely love it. Went in the winter and it was fun, cold, but fun. Animals were out and moving. Many had babies out. Water fountains weren't working, not sure if this is just do to it being winter, but during the summer they were fine.
Very clean and well kept, but there wern't many animals and we got bored quickly. To expensive for what was there. Good bird show though.
I always love going to the zoo! My son that is 3 had a blast! And my other son that is 1 absolutely loved the polar bear that was swimming around! My husband got me this rino sruffed animal and it's basicly my new pillow! I'm sharing just some of the photos I took!(:
Nice to go in the weekday afternoon because no one it's there. Pricey admissions (nearly $20 for adults), pricey souvenirs (ie: $17 for a child's hat). Very fun, lots of animals, train ride, bird shows, elephant show, and you can feed the giraffes.
Had a great time. The animals looked happy and well cared for, and there was always a shady spot or a bench handy when I looked for one. There were small signs with fun facts about the animals. Not to much walking between exhibits. Always something to see, especially with the giant bugs on display between animal habitats. Even a fun water area for kids.
My first visit since covid hit. It was a very nice visit but better to go earlier in the morning to beat the heat and the animals will be out more since they are sheltering from the heat as well. I was happy to spend the $100 on a membership to help keep the animals happy and healthy. Everything was clean and plenty of people wearing mask. It is worth it to see the new babies. It wasn't over crowded and a nice place to let your kids be kids.
The closest I have been to the animals in any zoo. The animals look very well cared for and the zoo is packed with secret windows to get you right up next to a Rhino, Polar Bear, and many others. $20 per adult, a water is $3.50 but refillable throughout the park for free. Absolutely wonderful for all ages.
I went on one of the Free Days and took my 2 1/2 year old grandson and it was crowded but not too crowded. It was a little chilly but it was January. I wish some of the gift shop items were cheaper to purchase. I'm a grandmother on a fixed income and can't afford a whole lot.
I sure had fun and it has been awhile since I been there
Great zoo and fun experience for family. Season pass prices and structure are a bit limited for non-traditional family options...e.g. single parents...but otherwise a great and memorable experience for the kids.
Nice zoo to take the family to. If you have children remember to bring a stroller because there is a lot of walking up and down hills.
Decent zoo I suppose. Came from out of state with my wife and kids on vacation but unfortunately many animals were nowhere to be found and the Asia section looked like a ghost town. The train and what not was closed. It would have been nice to know some of this beforehand maybe on their website.
I love the zoo the whole atmosphere of the zoo is fun and the staff are very nice and very helpful
We love the Hogle zoo. Well organized and always enjoyable to visit.
There are 2 wasps nest across the train tracks below the sign with the giraffe on it. Been growing for 5+ weeks now. I have told staff at guest services last two times we've been here. Didn't bother trying this last time.
(Original post)Zoo's are the best! This one is no exception. I saw the smaller elephant swimming and it was the best! Highly recommend getting a member ship if you love the zoo.
Way too many moms, kids, and strollers. Otherwise it's pretty much weekday you'd expect from a zoo.
We love the Hogle Zoo. There is always the best workers around to help educate you about the animals. We have a pass and we still learn things every time we go. I love that they have fun things to do throughout the year. The bird show is great. I do hope they expand the zoo someday across the parking lot and make a new structure for parking across the street. I think this zoo could grow a lot!
This place is pretty AWESOME! They could use aluttle more shows an entertainment for the kids more tho..
This place is a great place to take kids and learn a few things about animals. I love all the reptiles they have around the bird area, and the zebras with the ostriches now are fun to watch chase each other around
Love it! We get the year pass and visit as often as possible! When the kids are little they want to come every week!
I love that this zoo is tucked away in the foothills! Very accessible while still being hidden away. Snow in wintertime makes for a magical experience; there are still plenty of animals out and active in the cold temperatures. Watch on their website for Wild Wednesdays in winter months when there is free admission.
Had such a great time! A few things are closed due to COVID-19 but there was plenty of stuff to entertain a 3 year old.
We LOVE Hogle Zoo! We've been members for probably 15 years. We learn and see new things almost every time we go. The bird show is my personal favorite part.
We always have so much fun here. We have a membership here and go at least 8 times a year. They always have fun activities going on through the year. The food at all their cafes are great.
Fun idea..until you remember that these animals could be living without cages.
Such a fun place for all ages. All exhibits are health and happy. Lots of history on each animal. So much to do and see.
Zoo layout is much better than when I went last several years ago. Animals appeared to be well cared for, and observation opportunities were great!
It's a great smaller zoo that focuses on a fun day out for the kids. The train is great and the polar bear is impressive.
The animals are very interesting and fun to watch. It's a great place for kids and adults alike.
Not like it used to be back in the day some of the spots not open and have not been open the 4 times we have gone not mad just taking kids to the zoo and it ends up not taking a full day is a little sad other then that still fun and great place to go for an 1hr or 2
The staff was wonderful to work with. The Bird Show was amazing. The staff of The Bird Show were great to work with and helped us to arrange a marriage proposal during the bird show. They did did a great job! And my daughter said yes!
Other than the heat we had a great time. We had two adults and 3 kids, had a passes so only ended up paying for 1 adult and 1 child so that was excellent. Admittance is $17.95 for adults and $13.95 for kids (3-12). As expected the gift shop and the Beastro cafe are expensive, there is another food court area with a small cafe and a little Italian ice spot. There is amphitheatre for shows, and a smaller theater area (that's the one our kids went to). The staff were friendly and helpful, the animal exhibits were clean and well kept. I personally didn't like how the area was laid out, you walked down through the park to see everything, then had to walk back up the hill to exit the zoo. On a 95 degree day that was exhausting even for the kids. It was a fun adventure though. Might want to maybe bring snacks and drinks with you, or sign up for a zoo membership if you think you'll visit several times a year.
Great place to spend some quality family time. Even,my teenage kids enjoy it.
The Hogle Zoo offers a great place for our kids to learn about animals. The yearly membership is worth every penny!!
Always a great place for education and fun! The staff is incredibly kind, and educational.
Cool and fun. Nothing super special but only one in the area
First time going to Zoo Lights. It was pretty cool!
Great zoo experience! It wasn t very crowded and almost everyone we saw followed the COVID guidelines like wearing a mask! So much fun to see all the diverse animals from all around the world! My little brother who is 4 especially enjoyed it!
I had a wonderful day out with my granddaughter at the zoo!!
Great zoo. The animals look happy and satisfied in their cages. Seem to be fed really well. The overlook areas that look over some animals are really nice. Big hill climb in the back. Great place to go get in shape.
The place has been through major upgrades over the years. It is now a very nice place to go.
Went for zoolights, really enjoyed it was quickly able to get tickets and to enter the zoo, relatively small crowds. With the zoolights event happening at night you don't see many animals but there are a few that come out and you are able to see some of the animals that are more nocturnal be more active.
Park was empty and the animals were all out. Very good time!
Love the Hogle Zoo. The kids love to come and see all the animals. Always something hands on and interactive for the whole family. Have gone multiple times and plan on becoming members. Definitely check out the zoo lights during Halloween and Christmas season. Would recommend for anyone.
Always a great place to visit, very well-kept animals always look well taken care of staff is always Extremely friendly. Always at least once a year visit if not more when family is in town could use some more somatic elements to keep guests entertained more ambience music playing throughout the park but it s been fun to watch it s progression over the years.
The only zoo that can spend millions on renovations and make it so much worse, when I was younger there were more animals, better enclosures. It use to be a great place to go, now its overcrowded and underwhelming
It keeps getting better, family friendly but it's hilly so be aware when taking grandparents
This place is awesome. It's worth every penny to spend the day here, and the food is great too.
I loved the Meerkats exhibit. The zoo is always so clean and peaceful.
Weather was perfect, not too many crowds. Most animals were out!
The website says nothing but you must reserve tickets.
The animals seemed lethargic and sickly. Missing tufts of hair and whatnot. The enclosures also seemed too small or inappropriate for the habitat that the animal required.
We love the Hogle zoo. We have been season pass holders for 5 years. The red panda exhibit is awesome.
This is a great zoo. The enclosures are close enough together that you don't have to walk long distances between animals. The enclosures are nice looking and large. There is a wide variety of animals. There are lots of places to sit and eat a lunch and the membership prices are well worth it. If you live in the area and especially if you have kids, I highly recommend a membership.
Their new giraffe exhibit is awesome! The kids also loved the Red Panda. Plenty of places to sit and eat lunch. They do allow outside food. :)
It has been a while sense we last visited the zoo and I have to say it was a great experience coming back! My kids loved it as well and their favorite part was the giraffes.
Great zoo, friendly rangers if you go more than twice a year buy a season pass.
Don't bother wasting money on food here. It's all disgusting and my family has been sick to their stomachs ever since. I haven't been there since I was a kid and it was better then. It was nice to see all the animals
We really liked the shows. Starting at 10 they were back to back for the elephants, birds, sea lions and giraffes.
I'm not sure if it happens all the time, but the animals were very accessible. Many (see pictures) were asleep against the glass do we had very personal experiences with the looks, bears and gorilla.
My children were very interested in the train, which we did not ride, and the playgrounds, both wet and dry where we did play for a while.
There were lots of easily accessible restrooms that were in good shape and a plentitude of food. But there were also picnic tables so yay for support of bringing your own food!
We went to ZooLights, which was pretty fun. Of course, it is better to go in the summer when all the animals are more regularly outside. The zoo is big enough where an annual pass would be worth it, but not big enough that my four-year-old couldn't walk the whole time.
I moved to Sacramento and have missed this zoo. It was nice to go back and see what they have improved. Their new polar bear seems happier than the last one. Love the lions and giraffe exhibits. Kids had a good time. Free snack samples were a bonus the day we went.
It is a nice zoo. They have done a lot to make the animal enclosures better for the animals and it is great that they have reserves some of the native habitat along the creek that runs through the zoo.
Good place, nice and clean, Good environment and playgrounds. We loved the lights on Christmas, Sometimes the animals are rare or hard to see.
