Unique Accommodations Inc. Review

I highly recommend the Unique Accommodations team if you are in the market for hiring a company to manage your rental property. In August 2014 I came as a complete newbie to Unique after completing a comprehensive search of many property managers in the lower mainland area I truly found out that Unique offered the most competitive price along with a suite of services that met all of my requirements and then some. Our condo has never been without a renter nor has any renter ever defaulted on payment or damaged our property in any way. We have experienced various events including a sink that dropped out of the counter along with various plumbing issues. Unique s team always kept me well informed and all costs/invoices were both reasonable and detailed. Updates are provided throughout the year and the Unique staff is always available to answer my many questions most recently about the new responsibilities for an owner who may want to sell and the notice etc. required to made to the renter.

An awful experience with this company.

They showed up 20 minutes late to one of our viewings (without letting us know). When we we're let in, there was a lot of confusion between the agents and current resident because they didn't know we were coming. So they obviously didn't schedule it properly. They also did not know the layout of the building.

They were not good at communicating either. I was told by an agent to call her at 9am the next day and when I did, she did not answer...I left a message and she did not return my phone calls.

Overall, this was a terrible experience that I found VERY unprofessional. I will definitely not be using Unique Accommodations ever again.

Absolutely one of the best.
Although i connected to them via a craigslist advertisement, their team work was incredible. They wholeheartedly wanted to help and it is the way that all people seeking for that.
Ilan showed the apartment to us, he was so nice, after viewing he told us he can show the apartment again and was such a considerate guy,the team work was incredible.when they found out how we like that apartment they did their best, Oriana contacted me and keep me informed about what she was gonna do and then Najmeh asked us to provide some documents, she contacted the owner and got back to us with good news. She was the best.
Although i am happy about finding my appropriate apartment with their help, but in my idea, having a good feeling, being treated with courtesy , seeing they are taking care of you, trying their best for client satisfaction, these are of the most importance to a person looking for any services, regardless of the result.
One more thing, their website is very useful, strong searching tools and something that i will recommend that to my friends and consider it for my next searches.

Noah was super helpful and accommodating in our search for a rental property. She had great suggestions for apartments we might be interested in, and we ended up finding the perfect one! The process of renting through Unique Accommodations was very simple and fast even during the pandemic.

This is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. I do not think this company has any idea how to follow the RTB rules of British Columbia, either that or they operate with the intention of totally disregarding the very specific rules and laws set out by the province in hopes that tenants/landlords will not know the tenancy laws so they can get away with it. They will basically take anybody as a tenant and do the bare minimum checks just to fill the space so they can collect their finder's fee and leave you with a sketchy tenant that ultimately you have to deal with yourself or pay them even more money to get rid the bad tenant they placed in your home for you. Their customer service is horrible. Their team seems to just pass off jobs to one another at random and you end up dealing with 100 different people to get a simple answer to anything. If you try to bring up any mistakes they made, you will be confronted with a series of rude, unprofessional responses. The only thing they are sufficient at is taking your money and doing the bare minimum. Dealing with Unique Accommodations is dealing with a bunch of cowboys on a trip back to the Wild West- I do not recommend.

Over price unit for owners, leaving them empty for months at a time. Claim luxury but really are more bottom line property managers. Incorrect marking of units to get people in, claiming cut outs and flex spaces as dens . Very dated.

You recommended Holland Home Services. They did a terrible job. I have my doubts if you have any other reason to associate with them other than poor corrupt business intentions.

I have always had very positive interaction with the staff at Unique, we rent through them, and our experience was so good that I retained them to manage my rental unit. They are very proactive, respond quickly either with a solution or a follow-up, and they also gave me good advice when I was looking for a buy-to-lease property. The company is small enough to retain a personal touch, and very detail driven.

Unique Accommodation is my rental property manager for my house in Vancouver West Side, and they helped find my tenants in 2014. I was quite satisfied with their services and the tenants during the first year, so I have renewed the lease agreement and their services since then. Unique acted diligently during the process of showing the house to prospectus tenants, and I was happy with the online advertisement and the updates they provided me during the process, such as sending me notices of the times/dates that they planned to show the house. They have a well-organized and friendly staff that so far has responded quickly and efficiently to any issues that has required maintenance & fixing of the house and appliances. They have a list of handymen and repairmen that respond quickly at reasonable costs without the need for my presence. When somethings needs to be fixed they contact me by email to ask if I have any preferences or specific requirements beforehand. Sometimes I am away from BC for several weeks/months and I have come to trust them to take care of the house in my absence. Since the start of my lease agreement they have inspected the house a few times to verify and make sure the inside is in good condition and nothing out of ordinary is happening which is very reassuring. In addition their accounting and invoices are very clear and transparent, and all of the rent payments have been paid on time. I was asked to share my experience with Unique Accommodation, and I must say so far I am very satisfied with their services and I would highly recommend them to both tenants and home owners.

I had the most incredible experience with Noah, the rental agent we had the pleasure of dealing with. She was unbelievably accommodating, and went above and beyond to ensure we had the opportunity to view all of their available units with the limited time we had. She even worked late just to accommodate us, and dug up a few options we didn't find ourselves. The agents at the other property management companies were nowhere near as easy to work with as Noah. Ask for her, she's the best!

We engaged Unique to find tenants for our condo and they marketed themselves as a premium service that justified premium pricing..Unfortunately our experience was anything but..
They did manage to arrange a viewing within a week..but on the day of the viewing the property manager broke a small glass light and left the light on at the apt..
While these are not clearly major issues we did expect a more professional handling of our apt.
We expressed concerns about this issues to Nina and her husband (the owners) but instead of trying to address our concerns and demonstrate ownership and accountability for our negative experience..we were abruptly informed to look for another service provider..we felt very disrespected..
Aside from wasting our time while trying to address our concerns..and having to restart the whole process..the attitude of and communication with Unique really left a bad taste..
I would NOT recommend Unique in the strongest possible terms..

Ilan was the property manager who handled our lease and we couldn't have asked for a more courteous and attentive host. He was very helpful when showing us the unit and made sure everything was in excellent shape before we took possession. Even after we took possession of the unit Ilan followed up to ensure that all of our needs were met and all of our questions answered. I would highly recommend his team and Unique Accommodations in general.

We rented a place from Unique s portfolio during the pandemic (viewing in April, moving May 2020), and Noah was very professional and accommodating. She organized a customized virtual viewing and later a safe (physically distant) in person viewing. Contractual process was also very smooth. Thanks!

We first started using Unique Accommodations fifteen years ago to market and rent out our fully furnished house in Kitsilano. They found our first tenant within a week for a 5 month lease and for a price we couldn't say no to. Subsequently, we requested minimum one year or longer tenancies and they were always able to fulfill our request. After experiencing a 'fully furnished rental' revenue stream, we expanded to having Unique market our other three properties in Yaletown and Kitsilano.
They have a great reputation within the film and production industry, as well as with relocation companies. Their screening and reference checks have not let us down. We have never had any damage or had to withhold any security deposits. Stringent due diligence at the front end pays peace-of-mind dividends long term.
We fully endorse Nina, Mark, Chad and their team and continue to entrust them to find us great tenants.

We used Unique accommodations to rent out our condo in 2015, and while we were able to find a great tenant through them, the process was difficult and the original agent assigned to our condo rental was so rude and difficult to deal with that we had to ask Unique to put a new agent onto our rental.

Fast forward to 2018, and unfortunately, the experience has only got much worse. In a City with < 1% vacancy rates, and a condo located in a prime location in the City, we have had almost no movement, and virtually no communication with the Company - are we pricing the unit correctly, what kind of interest are we receiving, what venues are they using to find tenants, etc. 3 weeks into the process, we feel like we have moved backwards instead of forwards in renting our condo out, and fear that it will now sit empty while we find alternative assistance.

In a City with such a rental shortage, and with a condo in one of the most desirable areas of the City, this lack of results is simply in-excusable. Would *not* recommend their services.

I reached out about possibly renting in Vancouver with a large budget up to $3,000. Got a one sentence reply saying it wouldn't be a good fit because I have cats. What's the point of even having pets as an option if you are just going to respond negatively to inbound leads/interest. Extremely unprofessional response. Disappointing service to say the least.

We have been clients of Unique Accommodations for over 10 years, both as owners and as renters. I can't say enough good things about them. Unique has the contacts and reputation in the movie production and corporate market that have kept our unit rented almost without interruption. And the property management team has made sure that everything is cared for as if they were the owners. All in all, it's been a totally worry-free experience, topped off by some great sales, property management and administrative staff who are pleasure to work with. Thanks Unique, you guys are the best!

Poor experience from the get-go with MULTIPLE associates.
-Had to call multiple times just to get a viewing for a listing that had been up for 28 days to begin with.
-Upon our viewing our agent was late, had no idea where to park, and had another person coming 15 minutes after us and had to rush us through saying the unit was in high demand but had to refer to her paper whenever we had a question and was half sure at best
- Move-in they wouldnt let me park in my spot until a lengthy move in inspection, leaving my car and my moving truck in a loading zone on a busy city street while my elevator move-in time passed, as well as the money i was paying the movers.
- In order to avoid this, I asked if we could do the inspection and signing the evening prior and told me they would 'have to charge the extra day' on my contract - this is after almost 6k of deposits paid.

Ive now been moved in for weeks with no buzzer # (and they claim they cant get a hold of the building managers information because their ''system is down''), and had to email to remind them I had no mail key and had to get someone in the building to show me where the recycling/garbage was located.

I love my unit but I would never recommend this management company to anyone.

My experience with Unique was amazing! Unique is definitely the company to go for if you are looking for someone to manage your rental property. They always ensured that I received the best services and were always thorough and diligent with their work. On top of their extraordinary services, this company truly exemplifies transparency and ethical practices. I felt comfortable and confident with their recommendations - which is extremely important when it comes to renting your place out to people you don't know. I highly recommend Unique whether you are a tenant or a home owner - they are top-notch and over the competition.

Never deal with this company once you sign that year lease and get the keys is when it started, from the suite being unfinished to the appliances and electricity not work.

Mis-communicated end of tenancy dates to the property owner, then went ahead and had an agreement signed with the tenant, and nothing could be done to remedy it. Not impressed with the lack of professionalism and poor communication.
