Unipol have been the best housing for students I have used over my 3 years living in Leeds! They have great attention to detail from showing you around potential houses to getting your keys. They are also very quick to respond to any repairs that you require and the work is carried out well, I would definitely recommend unipol to students looking for good, affordable housing!

Lived in two different Unipol accommodations. The first was a 16 bedroom house, with a single (albeit large) kitchen. This should've set off alarm bells but I was pretty desperate for a place and figured it wouldn't be too bad; I was wrong. The kitchen was permanently gross. This perhaps isn't directly Unipol's fault so much as the tenants, but it's Unipol who thought that 16 people sharing a single kitchen is a Good Idea. My bedroom was mouldy, and the rooms there had been subject to price hikes in the region of 10% year on year, well above inflation. The front and back doors were serious security concerns - the rear fire exit could be opened just by pulling forcefully and the front door could be opened by sticking your hand through the letterbox.

Second Unipol accommodation was mercifully just 4 rooms to a flat. However the bedroom contained bed bugs, left behind by the previous tenant, but not dealt with before I arrived. Mould is also a reoccurring problem. The internet has been temperamental at best, with frequent outages (again, this is not directly Unipol's fault as many Virgin customers have experienced similar in the neighbourhood, but it would've been nice if Unipol had arranged an ISP change or got us some money back for all the hours we've not had internet). The room here is also mouldy.

Positives: It's not too expensive, I guess.

Are you a student in Bradford University or Bradfo...

Are you a student in Bradford University or Bradford college? looking for accommodation? Unipol Student homes is the best place to call in, they have a hub located at the University ( Richmond building) and also at Bradford College. Unipol have unending list of accredited landlords and they offer the best services. They also have their own student accommodation ; Doris Birdsall Halls of Residence. I lived in Doris Birdsall for 3 years and I can confirm that it is the best place you want to be. There is onsite resident Assistants, free washer/ dryer, fast and superb wifi as well as ensuite rooms all included in the bill. The location is very close to city centre and right in the middle of corner shops ( for late night snacks) and also very close to grocery shops like Asda, McColl's and Lidl. Most importantly its a 5mins walk from the University.

Rented an apartment in Grayson heights from unipol...

Rented an apartment in Grayson heights from unipol in May 2016, I loved it at first and thought that the service they provided was great however, when the colder months approached my flat was constantly freezing and due to the building having only electric heating and bad insulation, I was forced to pay crazy high bills and me and my daughter suffered in an extremely cold apartment. I questioned and complained on many occasions to the housing manager and front desk and also via email and was constantly told it was down to the buildings poor insulation and done nothing to check that the heaters were working. A year on and i was right, I had been paying extremely high energy bills and especially compared to my neighbors but the heaters were so old that they consumed money but did not heat properly. When I raised a complaint I felt I was being dealt with a un professional staff that had no respect and lied on many occasions. After the issue was resolved they maintained very high tension with me and am now currently awaiting longer then what they promised for my deposit! There communication is terriable and staff on the phone come across as rude and disrespectful. I really suggest to stay away from Grayson heights.

Lived in Leeds during my MSc year with Unipol within small apartment complex of some small shared flats. I have lived in plenty of student digs in my time and this was by far the best. Unipol were responsive to issues, tried to engage with their tenants and promote socialisation. All-in-all my experience has been grand. They provide an excellent service and decent facilities, especially considering that the rent is reasonable. The staff I have met have been very pleasant and friendly. The only issues I have had to face is putting up with irritating tenants or dealing with an irritating neighbour, but that is not Unipol's problem - just my tendency to be covertly antisocial and choosing a shared flat.

So, yeah highly recommend

Couldn't fault unipol for student housing. Whenever we had a problem they would sort it immediately! Our housing warden was so kind and we always felt that we could go to him the very few times we did experience issues. The house was not like how you would imagine a student home, it was lovely. Would recommend unipol to anyone!

I have used the Unipol Bradford office for two years now and don't have a bad word to say about them.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, well maintained properties, and plenty of little extras throughout the year to really make them stand out as a great company.

Highly recommended.

Their service is EXCELLENT.They were extremely efficient and helpful in assisting me from overseas to get into a place. They communicated effectively and I received prompt responses.
They were very informative giving me my options and their site is fairly easy to follow. The accommodations are in good shape affordable and their are options.

The people who work there were also additionally helpful and genuinely concerned about me. I would advise you to first contact them if. you are a student and looking for accommodations make this your #1 choice.
Their accommodations are SAFE and they are a non profit organization

Best of luck.

Absolutely evil company. As if trying to secure housing while doing uni work isn't stressful enough Unipol have done absolutely everything in their power to make booking my accommodation as stressful as possible. They have: ignored several emails for 2 months, ignored my phone calls and now that my friends and I have been sent the link to our tenancy agreement the links don't work AND my friends have been sent the wrong emails. Definitely won't be renting from them again next year

The university accommodation office don t cater for UK postgrads in spite of their publicity. I was sent to Unipol who didn t care because they had no single rentals at that moment. And they gave me a list of agents who are infamous for ripping people off and obviously offer poor service.
It s all bla-bla on their website!

Unipol has a lot of properties in Leeds so they feel they don't have to offer quality customer service.

Countless unannounced viewings, sleepless winter nights due to broken heater, not working 24/7 emergency number (one of the last nights of our stay fire alarm kept going of, called again during the day and got shouted at for reporting a fault which wasn't then fixed for at least a week), very loud 24/7 noises from pipes, constant smell of weed in the room, very unprofessional approach, complete lack of any human care about their tenants.

They will apologise, but won't actually fix any of your issues.

Very satisfied with their finance team.

Unipol student housing was definitely overall a po...

Unipol student housing was definitely overall a positive experience for me as a postgraduate student in Leeds. They have been very good at their repair work from kitchen to bathroom by coming in as soon as they can without delay and having cleaners in every month. They have always been reassuring .It was also my first time being away from home ( actually from Scotland) which was really scary and having to live with housemates. However,I was really impressed by the big living area and kitchen ( hard to achieve) especially for the social side with being around housemates who are very different from each other. Also the garden with picnic tables too during the summer periods. I felt it was very good for my own personal growth by being able to help out and figure out myself in terms of what I am capable off of doing. Also, forcing myself to push outside my comfort zone to minimise homesickness and isolation. I also felt I got good value for money out of it especially with the supplies of chocolate they gave us during Halloween and Christmas time. Working hard academically for Masters was significance for my progression for creating your own independent working life. However, understanding yourself around others enables you to be more open and honest to figure what you want out of life and broadening your horizons on a personal note. This what motivation me to get through my Masters year. I would with confidence recommend Unipol student homes not just for their good value for money ( individual contacts) and their quick repairs but the set up of a homely feel which I enjoyed coming back to after long day from university. Every time I left the accommodation to go back home, I always missed that feeling and wanted to return to what I consider a second home feeling. It was also located near the cinema, shops like Asda and Aldi and near the green parks. There were also straight buses to the city centre too for shopping and eating out too allowing for both country and city life experience . I enjoyed my year even though it was emotionally draining especially with COVID period. However, looking back, I have learnt so much in just the one year period and felt it was the most rewarding thing I have done and proud to have gone through with that through the ups and downs. For that reason, I have decided to stay at same Unipol property again next year as a PhD student because of how well they deal with issues both email and phone, their excellent rent pay and continuing to grow as a independent person around others. :)

Poor customer service, blatantly ignore complaint emails about things that are broken in the flat. We went without a fridge for two weeks and a hover for 3 months and they aired me the whole time.

If it was possible to give it 0 stars I would.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Stayed in their Nottingham accommodation in first ...

Stayed in their Nottingham accommodation in first year, the flat and bedroom were well looked after and clean on arrival. Any maintance issues were sorted quickly by their lovely maintance men who you could not fault. One maintance problem that was not quickly resolved was a leak in the ceiling of the kitchen that for weeks and weeks we had to have the mop bucket under so it didn't ruin the carpet. Another was when there was no hot water in the building for a few days. Although unipol were in constant communication with us via email telling us when they were attempting to fix things (and also telling us to boil water in the kettle if we wanted hot water lol), this was very frustrating and I ended up having to go to a friend's for showers.
Unipol staff very quick with email responses. There was a free meal when we first started and a free Christmas meal also organised which was nice.

Overall I believe that Unipol are definitely one of the better private student accommodation landlords in Nottingham and, regardless of the 3rd term rent issue, I would recommend and use again.

Being a Unipol tenant for 3 straight years has proved the excellence of the company. With uncertainty of my direction in 3rd year, unipol offered options that allowed me to stay in Leeds but in accommodation whilst the house i had signed for was being updated and decorated. Throughout the years, living in unipol accommodation and homes, they have always been extremely helpful and suited to the tenant, helping in any way they can, extremely quick. I feel the bad reviews given are somewhat misleading, as unipol really are great! Affordable and amazing quality living, thank you for all your help.

I have lived with Unipol for over 4 years, throughout my time at university. The housing team have responded quickly to problems, consistently offered support and gone above and beyond to ensure the moving experience is as easy as possible.
I cannot recommend them enough to other students who want stress-free, affordable and quality housing.

First year was alright. Second year they increased the rent and their service became awful. They don't reply to emails. If you call, they say so and so will call you back but they never do ( At this point every time I call I get told Pauline will call you back as she deals with this. It's been 4 weeks and I called back 5 times). If you have a complaint they dont listen. I'm planning to move out middle of term. Had enough.

-charge too much rent and increase it so you have to move
-don't always tell you when they're entering the property
-twice the rent has been overcharged
-need to enforce better rules so that if students are abusing the house they're disciplined. Ended up being forced to move out on my own accord due to a health hazard of a house due to the keeping of pets, constant weed smoking and refusing to clean. Giving 24 hours notice that you're coming to the property gives them time to hide animals and drugs.

So basically, this company doesn't have you in mind, they want your money. Avoid seriously.

I got in touch with Unipol after a dispute arose with my previous letting agents where I felt I was being unfairly penalised. I was put in contact with Megan who assessed the situation. She was extremely helpful, informative and reassuring, and within 10 days the problem was fully resolved.

Unipol has been amazing for the 2 years that I was with them. The accommodation was in top condition and if anything ever went faulty, it would be fixed within a couple days, or if it was an emergency, someone would fix it by the end of the following day if not on the same day!

Jan and Andrew have been particularly kind to me in many ways, helping me out by talking with me about what upset me with my uni life and helping me find the best ways to deal with my flatmates. They were there for me even after my stay with Unipol, making sure I was doing well and that I'd have a comfortable send-off from my tenancy at Unipol. Of course, they helped me out with all sorts of paperwork and technical things regarding my accommodation too.

I will always recommend Unipol to everybody. They have gone above and beyond anything I ever expected, and I am so grateful for everything they have done for me.

The only reason why I left was because they did not have the sort of flat I wanted to move into as they had been taken by other tenants (I applied too late to catch free spaces). But if that hadn't been the case, I'd still be living with Unipol!

I am satisfied by the maintainance of the property on behalf of the landlord but I am very dissapointed by the managment of the property. Unipol is supposed to give us 24h notice before someone visits the property but today it was the second time I got back home from a full day of work only to find that someone had entered the house (knowing the alarm code, so it must have been some contractor). Some furnitures were rearranged and there were traces that someone had used the toilet. This is really unacceptable.

I have rented from this office in Leeds for 4.5 years. They are great!
For instance, when I asked for repair they come immediately and fix the problem. They love to take care of their properties where they run regular checks. Because I had small babies on that time, I asked many times to wash the carpet of the living room and they did, thanks for them.
when I left the flat I told them that my child has pushed the Tv and he caused damage to the wall. Our Manage, Mr. Thom said that is fine we will not charge you anything and I found the full deposit back to my bank account just after 10 days from leaving the property.

Had a particularly bad experience as an International student. During times like these, no support was rendered. There was a significant communication gap between members of the team as a result of which I was on the receiving end. This led to various issues when it came to moving out of the premises remotely. I wrote numerous e-mails that were acknowledged, and my situation was apparently understood, but then this wasn t reciprocated when it came to returning my deposit or facilitating my move out from the premises. Wouldn t recommend to international students like me who are facilitating things remotely given such unprecedented times. Disappointed overall and expected a lot more from such a reputed agency.

I have rented a family property with Unipol (Leeds) for almost two years. The repairs were always very fast and the house was always being inspected to be sure everything was working fine. Andrew, the property manager, was always very helpful and attentive. There was no pressure to renew the contract in advance and the price was very good for the house. Unipol aims to support students, not just business.

Current resident of student family accommodation i...

Current resident of student family accommodation in Leeds, and so disappointed with service of how they treat a young family with a baby. The repairs service system is flawed left us without hot water, heating and not correctly logged complaints and had to jump through hoops to get it corrected and a new boiler fitted. Now our kitchen us flooded and contacted emergency repair but not considered an emergency as there are are 'lots of residents who think they have an emergency', by the way you are treated you can tell they are understaffed and their systems of management are poor. I was attracted to rent here rather than with a private landlord as they market themselves as having superior service to private landlords and caring about students, so disappointed and hope they can review and improve repairs system to be functional.

UPDATE:
despite the repairs system being a problem, our housing manager was very helpful and attentive in resolving the issues and made me feel much more supported
