Really interesting, but very busy even in the off season
What a brilliant afternoon. I would highly recommend you go for the day to sure to see everything. Be aware there are so many spiral staircases to use. Not for those with limited mobility. Also don't be put off by the queue for the crown jewels. It goes down quicker than you think. Enjoy
Bigger than what we expected. Get there early to be able to see everything.
Great place, but better to visit at early time. Very Crowdy.
Wow! The museum and the historical presentations were amazing. The crown jewels were stunning.
This is one of my favorite tourist attractions in all of London. this is the tower of London where a lot of British history has occurred including the death of Anne Boleyn, the wife of Henry VIII. The crown jewels are also stored here and they are on display. The tours are led by the beefeaters guards who are actually military personnel stationed at this location as a duty station. They are generally really excellent storytellers.
There are other exhibits related to the history of Britain located on this site.
We had a nice visit to the tower. Interesting historical place, but also a lot of people here which to some extend makes it difficult to experience the place. We brought our two kids (6 and 9), and would have liked some more installations directed at kids (like the top floor in The White Tower, which was very nice).
Really great piece of history here. Take your time and do your own thing - better on a dry day.
Really nice time at the tower lots of things to see and enjoy. A little pricey but I suppose you expect that. I recommend it if you are into war, weapons, torture and shiny things !
Just about as good as it gets, as far as historic tourist attractions go. Get here early to beat the queues to see the crown jewels
Very nice, definitely coming back for more information and viewing.
So many interesting things to see and know about this place
This is a great castle, one of the oldest in Europe. Lots of history to soak in, however, the Crown Jewel room is really tough to get into, loooong lineups that can go on for hours. Suggest you come early in the morning as its less crowded.
So magnificent castle, no words to say how good I felt to discover this beautiful place, I recommend
Interesting to walk around and see everything there. The crown jewels are cool to see and are in a huge vault and you can't take any pictures. Also they do a small changing of the guards thing here in front of where the jewels are kept.
A place you know you're going to see so make the pictures and experience worth you visit. The history is just overwhelming. Just no pictures while you are inside.
Lovely collection. I was surprised of how quickly we were able to access, everything! (We were there in October, though). Even though busy, we were able to see and enjoy everything. Absolutely stunning structure and beautiful gardens. A must when visiting London.
The tour inside was very interesting. The place has a rich history and the crown jewels alone were worth the trip
This is one of the best places I have visited in London. I took on of the 1 hour tours that made a huge difference. Yeoman Chris did an fantastic job giving the history of the site and great insight. He was very funny and kept the people engaged. They also had another tour where actors acted out some of the moments in history. Again very funny and entertaining
I caught the yeoman guided tour as I was walking in and it was fantastic. The yeoman had tons of great historical stories and was a perfect intro to the tower.
Great tour, the guides - Yeoman warders/Beefeaters - are funny AND informative.
Macabre place and the guards must have been frozen. All credit goes to them for their ability to withstand what they have to. Crown jewels are definitely worth viewing. The royal residences were scarily sparce but then maybe that's because we're used to homes filled with a lot of meaningless stuff.
Steeped in history. Have your picture taken with a yeoman guard/beefeater. See the ravens and the Crown Jewels are definitely worth a viewing.
Loved it, so much history and a lot to see. Took hours though!
Loved going back in history, very informative guide...would defo visit again in better weather
The history here is amazing. Plan on being here for hours. Not in line, I mean exploring all the different aspects of this place. Don't be mistaken, it's not just one tower...it's many, including the housing of the crown jewels! It's one of the biggest must See's in London!
Brilliant location to learn some history as well as a totally fabulous living history presentation.
Seeing the Crown Jewels sent chills up and down my spine, took my breath away.
HIGHLY recommended!!!!
There is so much to see here. Allow at least 3 hours. I highly recommend the excellent free tour given by some of "The Yeomen Warders" of Her Majesty's Royal Palace, (also known as the Beefeaters).
Great place if you like history. In summer, make sure to get there early if you want to see the crown jewels, the queue can get really long.
The best time I had and don't miss the crusie trip on the Thames to know the history and heritage of great London.
Loved it, lots to see. Avoid the weekend if you can, or get there early to avoid crowds.
Great history surrounding this attraction with great employees full of expert knowledge,so much to learn and to look at. Worth a visit!
We made it to London too late on the date of our ticketed day. However, we were able to exchange the tickets for the next day at the Group Sales counter. For a place with such a dark history, we had a wonderful time. Take a Group Tour with a Yeoman. They handle the loads of people with no issue.
The Tower of London is probably the most important historical building standing in England today. Located and the north bank of the River Thames, this castle was the English seat of power for many centuries.
Founded by William as part of the Norman conquest of English in 1066, the Tower of London has rich history which extends almost a thousand years into the past Today, you can visit the Tower of London and see quite a bit of the castle grounds including the White Tower, Medieval Palace and now you can see the Royal Crown Jewels, which are display at the Tower of London.
You can visit and see the highlights at the Tower of London in an hour or less but this makes the visit very pricy. To ensure better value for money, it is worth trying to see as much as you can at the Tower of London. Visit their website to see recommended ways of spending 2 or 3 hours at this attraction, there is good description of everything everything available to do and see online. For those who enjoy leisurely visits, its possible to spend up to a 1/2 a day at the Towers of London.
For those not as keen on castle visits, you can also simply walk around the Tower of London, enjoying its presence on the north side of the Thames River. It rests beside what is probably the most famous bridge in the world, Tower Bridge, which you can also consider visiting when spending time in this part of London.
In the end, we find the Tower of London quite pricy compared to other important attractions in London and similar castle/palace visits in other European capitals. You might even argue that beyond the Crown Jewels, the attraction is a bit underwhelming compared to many European counterparts. However, it can be a fun place to visit and a nice place for families with children to spend time during their holiday.
Staff here are incredibly rude, if you can even find them. Expect to be herded in like cattle. Not worth the trip.
Nice and interesting visit in a historical site with a view over the river Thames, facing the HMS Belfast, next to the London Bridge. Compelling pilgrimage for anyone visiting London
Do not miss this!
Most people go to see the Crown Jewels which are absolutely stunning but do not miss the torture tower or the rest of the exhibits. Prisoners that carved their name in the walls are preserved behind plexiglass with plaques that describe who the prisoner was. The ravens are everywhere - they are trained to be at the tower. Very educations. FYI- absolutely no pictures of the Crown Jewels are allowed. Many people still tried despite the many warnings.
Need to control crowds & maintain some British discipline @ such a magnificent British Heritage site. People shoving & getting shoved spoilt what could've been a great day out. Plus, Imprisonment Tower & a few others were cordoned off :/
Worth a trip to get some history of London. Definitely catch the Yoman's tour if you can, and the tour of the chapel in the white tower.
Use the 2-for-1 offer if you catch the train in (you will need to present your train ticket, not an oyster card).
Worth noting: Fair bit of walking and some very narrow corridors and spiral stairs, which may cause a problem for people with mobility restrictions.
Historical part of London. Good to visit. Join an excursion by beefeater. He told a lot of interesting fact about Tower and London history.
There you can also visit royal treasury. Queue is rather big. The exposition is rather small but interesting.
Also you can explore the every corner of the castle. And each can tell you its own history.
Plan to spend a few hours and be both amazed and horrified at the history and the stories that have been retained. So much history and so many pivotal things happened here, you won't be disappointed at all you can see.
Also, while you can see the crown jewels and they are amazing, be aware that the queen has requested that NO pictures be taken of the jewels - flash or otherwise so just don't do it.
Excellent! The Crown Jewels were worth the wait! The history comes alive with the exhibits. Must see when in London.
Been to London loads of times but never visited the Tower of London so this weekend we decided to give it a visit after watching the series on Tv.
We arrived just in time for the start of one of the Yeoman Tours our guide was Lawrence and from the off he commanded attention by his story s presence and added humour. He recited facts and story s in a way that could be understood by young and old and ensured all enjoyed the tour.
Once done we wondered around the various towers and rooms and exhibitions one being the Crown Jewels which is a must if course.
We spent 20 minutes chatting to one of the Yeoman about the Ravens a very fascinating 20 mins about the lives and interactions with the Yeoman.
All in all we were there for nearly 5 hours and didn t see it all but worth the money.
Lots of history! I had a good time walking the grounds and learning about the history of the Tower of London. It's a must see.
Absolutely amazing tour of the Tower of London. We spent hours here, and could easily spend hours more. So much history here, and the Beefeater guides were quite entertaining and helpful in their telling of the stories behind the tower.
Great family day out at the Tower and nice Northern Lights display.
Watched the ceremony of keys which was very interesting and once in a lifetime experience
We went with my 12 Year old son and his 76 Year old grandmother.
Had lots of fun, it is a little tough walking for the elderly.
It is very very interesting place. You should put in you list if you are keen on history and visit London. Do not miss to see the royal crowns. If you can combine it with river cruise on Thames River and Tower bridge. There is spectacular view to the river
I have been here many times and learn something new each time I go. Well worth seeing.
Even the kids were into this gem f fascinating history.
Amazing! The Yeoman warders are worth their weight in gold bringing the amazing history of the Palace to life and there to answer every question anybody has.
Maybe we had bad timing but it was bloody crowded and the exhibition was nice but really short. I don't think its worth almost 30 pounds and I am really interested in history and armor. I think it's not bad, just really really expensive for an okay experience
Been wanting to go for a long long time and was an amazing day really really worth the trip
A lot of fun and very interesting. You will need an entire day to see it all.
A must visit while in London. Take the tour as the guides are very interesting. Plenty of tourist gifts...lol
Amazing. We spent four hours here. So much to see and learn
This place has a reach history, starting with 1078 (White Tower). During time it changed its destination - which includes a prison! Nowadays it is the home of the Crown Jewels. Definitely worth a visit.
Wonderful place just happens to be in London whicj is a dissapointing place.
We did the touristy thing and saw the Tower of London. Absolutely amazing structure with a rather unsavory history. Our Beefeater guide was fantastic. He regaled us with not only history but also interlaced it with humor. He wove quite a tale of major events, executions and intrigue. All in all a worthwhile afternoon.
One of my favorite places to visit in London.
Rich with History, this is a must see if you are in the area.
Take a tour or read up a bit on the history and all the events that have happened here over the years to get the most out of your experience.
Anne Boleyn, Lady Jane Grey, Guy Fawkes, the princes to name a few. Rudolf Hess one of Hitlers top officers was also in-prisoned here by Churchill during WW2.
Great place to visit. Over the past ten years this place has gotten CROWDED though.
The tour of London was really great. And a very fun experience to see the queens jewellery's and her crowning in video but no pictures were allowed in that room wich was boring but I understand why. And l would have preferred the experience of my headphone worked well, if it did not rain and if there was less line for the crowns jewellery's exposition.
But beside that l recommend think experience.
Lots of armors in the tower and a military museum on the side - these seem like the main offer and reason why so expensive.
Didn't feel like a real castle because of all the props inside. No open outside view from the top of the white tower after all the stairs. The prison is not dark and spooky.
The warder tour is nice but difficult to hear with so many people.
It was great but it takes a lot of time to see everything.
I love going to the tower of London. The definite best part is the beefeater tour. The depth of history to this place amazes me. Seeing the crown jewels is good fun as well, you can get pretty close. Quite expensive to go however, but well worth it.
I visited with my daughter we joined the organised tour which was really interesting and packed with history!!
Amazing place with a lot of history. A must go place to visit in London. Do take the Yeoman tour which is a wonderful experience of itself!
Loved it!!!! We bought the London Pass, so our visit was free! We only got there with about an hour and a half remaining so didn t do the formal tour (which is three hours), but had a wonderful and hugely educational time exploring on our own! If you wait til late in the day (like after 4), the line for the crown jewels is MUCH shorter and the display is so incredible!! much of it is still used! You actually enter a giant vault to view it all!! The towers themselves are so intriguing, if not disconcerting with all the torture and death. But it s history. Definitely a must do when in London!
I definitely recommend the audio tour. It was our favorite tour in London. There are lots of steps though, so bring good shoes!
You can do a full day here. Be prepared to queue for crown jewels but worth it, children aged 7 and 10 loved it.
The tour guide was extremely informative and funny.
The Tower of London has so many amazing views and it's also a historical place, where we can learn about tha past of London!
This was one of our favorite attractions in London. It was included in the London Pass, which was nice to not have to wait in lines for tickets. I liked that you could really see a few things and be done in an hour or do everything and be there all day. There were so many different things to see and learn about. There was an audio guide available if you want it. We did not see the Crown Jewels because the line was VERY long but we were OK with seeing everything else. Glad we did this!
Typical tourist attraction of London. Very interesting but lots of tourists.
Check out the crown jewels and the armory. Oh, and of course the resident ravens.
Come in early to beat the crowds, plus it takes an easy 3-4 hours if you go explore all the towers and interesting exhibitions and displays. Onsite cafe and good toilet facilities. Wear comfortable, safe and secure walking shoes as long of walking and steps and stairs to navigate around. Absolute most do while in London!
Why, i wonder, did Richard 2nd let the Mat the Tyler take the Tower in the Peasant's Revolt of the 14th Century...
One if not the must go tourist spots and tours that you will ever need to go. I did the 'Ceremony of the Keys' and if you can get on the list then you are extremely fortunate to do so.
All is well.
The best tower/castle I ve ever visited. Highly recommend! Make sure to wait for a free guided tour - it s very informative and entertaining! Also, if you buy ticket online, you save 10%
Whilst it is a bit pricy to get in if you book online you can save some money and there is an amazing amount of history on display here, everything from the crown jewels to exhibits displaying old prisoners in the tower. Some of the staircases can be difficult to navigate if you're too tall and not everywhere is wheelchair accessible. That being said if you want to view one of the oldest sites in England this is the place, if you visit on a Sunday the restaurant makes a great Sunday roast. Do note that you can not take photos in some exhibits, the crown jewels exhibition l is one of those.
This was so awesome to see. I loved learning all about the history of it. It was hard to pick a favorite part, but I would have to say seeing the crowns was the best. There are places you can t take pictures for security so be sure to pay attention to the signs.
A fantastic day out, we got to learn so much about British history and got to see the crown jewels. Highly recommended, although it's London so a little expensive.
