To get the best out of it, give yourself the better part of the day. Steeped in history it's a great place to wander and soak it all up. Very informative day out and dont forget to visit the stunning crown jewels!

Oldest Castle in London. A bloody history of glory and english politics...well preserved middle age piece of history. It contains the crown jewels and all historical war arts..Great experience guided by beef eaters who still run the place since history to our present days...allow for at least full day to see it in full. It looks small from outside but its a full midival city inside with all its parts...

Loved our Beefeater!!! Well organized. Wished had more time in chapel. Headphones worth it. Go straight to Royal Jewels after the tour and get it out of the way. Lines get long but fascinating. Nothing not to love. Extraordinary place, legends made lives destroyed, you can almost sense the despair of those held here

We were the half an hour before they opened and we were the first ones to enter it that day! I would recommend this to everybody!! It's just so much nicer when you are almost alone there! ^^

Amazing how much history has taken place on this one spot over time. Learned so much and got a chance to see the crown jewels. It was neat, but not real impressive. Not sure why. My wife and daughters loved it.

It is definitely a must see for any who love learning about history.

Such a cool place to see! There's an amazing amount of history to be learned at the Tower of London. You can just walk around the outside and learn a lot but inside I'm sure there's so much more to see. We didn't have time to go in. Next time it's on my list!

The Bloody Tower is a must visit for a lover of history, with almost a millennia on offer. The cells for the Princes in the Tower are amazing, as is the exhibit on the animals that had been kept there.

The ravens are amazing birds to see.

If you plan to see the Crown Jewels, get there early and do that first. The line for that specific exhibit can get rather long.

Well worth the visit. It's definitely enjoyable if you do the tour with a Yeoman Warder, or Beef Eater. If you don't like the this one, another one will leading the next. Meet down in the moat. Be courteous and respectful. This is the home More

I just love this place. So much history you can't beat it. You really need a whole day here. A half day at a push. Allow a good hour for the Beefeater tour too. It's included in the price and super entertaining! Buy your tickets online in advance, or even on the day and save a fair amount of money too. Remember, no photos of the Crown Jewels so you'll need to buy a book or postcards. Enjoy!

Great historical place to visit.

Great historical place to visit.
Cafe/restaurant had reasonable prices too.
Tours by beefeater are very good or you can wander alone.
Can be a busy place as is very popular. Order tickets online prior to visit to make access quicker and easier.

One of the best sights to visit in London.

One of the best sights to visit in London.
We went to the Tower with my family and friends and we spent good two hours waiting on the queue to get to see H.M.'s Crown Jewels. It was interesting to learn that this was not only a palace and a fortress, but also a prison ... There are more than 1000 years of history in this castle, and there are lots of people dressed as in Medieval times throughout the complex. Ticket prices are much on the high end (about 25 pounds per person), but it is interesting to spot the ravens, the museum with armory and weaponry, to walk in these Medieval cobbled streets. Along with numerous gems, there is also an Armory in action section, which proved to be very interesting for the children. Interesting for me were also the Line of Kings and torture sections. There is lot more to be seen, but it would take more than half a day, given the queues one has to wait. Great pictures of the palace can be taken from the river cruises.

It was a really great experience visiting the castle grounds and seeing the Crown Jewels, as well as the crowns and swords of the last few monarchs. The Tower of London s crows were also really interesting to see around the castle grounds.

However, the line was a bit long to get in, so it s better to buy the tickets in advance before visiting. The tickets were a bit pricey, but it s certainly worth the first visit.

Did a wander round The Tower, wandered down the southbank, had a lovely lunch with my best friend...who doesn't love London on a warm sunny day and the beautiful history it offers # London from a Londoner

Historic place, well preserved. Nice to see the Treasury, Chapel, mint. Need at least 5 hours to see the entire surroundings at ease. Nice memorial coins. Can buy water, coffee or snacks in the yard.

One could not load enough photos to do this place justice. The Tower of London is amazing, exciting, educational, fun, and worth the money.

Get the London Pass, it's apart of the package.

Also, be prepared to go through this journey for atleast two hours. There are reenactments to watch, tours to listen to, restaurants, and so many areas of history to explore.

If you love military history, you'll love this place as well.

I didn t have enough time to get inside the Tower but to walk around from Tower Hills to the Bridge was a pleasant experience, though a bit overcrowded. Then we could have rest on the grass of the garden - a real green gem inside the city rush.

Advice note.
Layer up in the cold weather.
Give at least another 1+2 hours to see everything!

Great place to visit with lots of things to see. Get there early. Take the free tour with the beefeater, they'll tell you all about the notable events at the tower, which includes a lot of executions.

I won a competition with sky Atlantic and had to train with the nights watch at the tower, me and my friend had an amazing day there with archery, sword fighting, wall climbing and raven handling. Sadly I think it was a one day event only so I was very lucky to have been there thank you all for such a great day!! #gameofthrones #GoT #skyatlantic #GoTs7 #toweroflondon #nightswatch

This place is amazing. Highlight of my London trip. The carvings from the prisoners to the suits of armour, the history. Just amazing. Loved it. I spent at least five hours roaming around.

First time visitors: a tour from a Yeoman Warder is a must. Our "Beefeater" John did a fantastic job of keeping the tour interesting and light hearted despite some grizzly tales of torture and murder. Every exhibit was well designed and queue times were reasonable even during peak season. The visit was certainly worth the entry fee.

We waited for one of the Yoeman Warders to give us a tour of the main spots, and I wish that it could have lasted longer as our guide was very insightful and entertaining. Seeing the Crown Jewels are a must!

Rememberance Day at the Cenotaph was an extremely moving and emotional occasion. So many thousands in attendance to pay their respects to our fallen soldiers, members of their family like my family .

Amazing place with a unique historical climate. There your imagination is working on a highest level. My advice: prepare yourself before visiting about historical icons living there. Take part in Beefeater Tour. It's the only possibility to visit St Peter Ad Vincula Royal Chapel where Anne Boleyn's remnants are.

Good way to spend a few hours in London. Worth queuing for the Crown Jewels. We found some of it was a little underwhelming but the Crown Jewels and the White Tower made the visit worthwhile. Stopped for coffee in the cafe which was busy but, in contrast to many in house caterers was very well priced. A warning tho ... if like me you don t like spiral staircases.... there are quite a few!!

Our tour guide, Shady, was excellent and made the tour unique and very memorable. The perfect balance of history and British sardonic wit! If you go to The Tower of London, make sure you get a Shady one... ;)

Interesting place. Bathrooms were nice. The Ravens and crown jewels and armory were really interesting. Staff was accommodating but a bit strict. 10/10 would recommend packing a 32oz raw ribeye steak to feed to the Ravens.

A "Top Ranked" historical Tower/Chapel.

A "Top Ranked" historical Tower/Chapel.
This well/centrally located "tower complex", on the Thames river, has a history that dates back almost a thousand years. It is, officially, a "Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress'. It covers an area of about 16 acres-- and is made up of several different buildings including a prison cell (called the "Bloody Tower"), a repository for the "Crown Jewels", the Royal Armories and the Chapel of St. John. The "embedded history" is well worth a visit. It has also been awarded TripAdvisor's coveted "Traveller's Choice" designation.

When there you HAVE to do the Yeoman Warder's tour, funny and fascinating. Exudes history.

My husband and I have visited many times over the years and still love to do so. If you do visit be sure to do the Yeoman warder tour. We thoroughly recommend the tour and you will find the warder knowledgeable, entertaining and funny. One tip, be there ready for when the Tower opens and head straight to see the Crown jewels. That way you beat the queue, which can be massive. Not only that, you can go along the moving walkway several times while it is quiet. :-)

I Found this place really depressing. Not because of the prison, mostly because it was just a tourist destination, where several important people died and now rest. The place wasn't filled with spirits. The cathedral was the only part I enjoyed. Because you can view Thomas Moores tomb and anne boleyn.

The tower and keep have been restored and propped through history, several parts of this place are blocked from entry. It made me feel like the Brits are hiding history intentionally. They claimed the parts of the prison had been destroyed so we couldnt visit them. But from the outside of the castle you can see the section in question is intact. Not sure why they would lie about that unless their hiding from their own disgusting history.

There is much to see and do here. I didn't realize the complex was as big as it is. If you can, take the one hour Yeoman Warder tour. It's free and is a great way to start your visit. It gave me a lot of context and I don't think I would have enjoyed my visit as much if we hadn't gone on the tour. Beware- there are lots and lots of stairs.
