It is one of the few places in Europe being in the same time old and full of history and also extremely well preserved, considering that some parts have been built around 1200. Although it was crowded (we've been in a sunny Sunday) we only had to wait around 15 minutes to the longest queue for seeing the Crown jewelry.

Amazing place of history, it has so many things to get you back in history and understand how they executed most of the commands! This place was full of fun and adventure. The entire premises is well maintained, clean and well taken care even when it handles such a huge crowd.
One of the best historical attractions in London. The Beefeater tour is a must and just taking your time to walk around the central tower and the gardens is magnificent. Definitely try and go during less busy times.
The Tower of London is so utterly fab! If you are visiting London even on business and you haven't see it just take the tube to Tower Hill (that's right) and walk down to the tower. You don't even need to go in, just walking around it from the outside is really awe-inspiring!!!!
Very interesting place to go. Would highly recommend taking one of the fee tours, although there crowded there worth going to. One of the best locations in London. The crown jewels were amazing as well.
Absolutely loves this place and especially the Yeoman Warder tour. The rich history of the Tower, along with the fantastic displays, can keep one entertained for hours. Tip: get their right when they open to avoid the huge crowds later.
I absolutely loved our visit to the tower of London. What a fantastic, riveting and fascinating day out! Definitely would recommend, and go on one of the free tours too!
Beautiful historic sight with a lot of History to explore. You can spend a whole day in there. The only thing that I definetly disliked was the fact that you cannot take any pictures of the crown jewels.
What a place. So much history from so many different times from past to present. All within the walls of one castle. One of the most iconic places in not only England but the world. To visit but give your yourself plenty of time to take it all in. 10/10 Don t tease the guards they WILL not appreciate it. If you need any help the yeomen are more than happy to explain a lot so don t be afraid to ask questions
The Beefeater tour was the funniest tour I've been on so far. Informative and full of British humour. It's nice you can roam around at your own pace afterwards as there is plenty to see.
A MUST SEE! We had a day and a half in London and this was one of the must dos. It's a bit pricey in terms of actually getting onto the grounds, but well worth it to see such a historical and beautiful place.
One of the iconic landmarks what a thrill to see the crown jewels, the tower crows, and the guided tour was truly worth it, I will certainly be going back.
Incredibly cool historical site. You can spend an entire day here easily. The live action tower battle reenactments were great - loved the guy who played the drums and led the group around.
Fantastic family day out for all ages! We spent the whole day there, which honestly flew by, and we've yet to see it all! Amazing preserved and living history, with plenty for kids to touch and do. The Yeoman's free walking tour is a great way to learn the towers history which is only 45 mins allowing plenty of time to explore, but we came away from the group and rejoined later on
It's nice but touristic and very expenciv i think.. there were a looot of people. The armors are stunning, very beautiful work. Due to the mile long queue, we couldn't see the crown juvels.
Ps: you need printed out tickets. It's not possible to show the phone, but they will print it out for you, if you show your phone at the ticket station.
This is a great day out and well worth it. Book online to save few quid, better still, catch the train for their 2 for 1 offer. Definitely take the yeoman tour, which is less than one hour. The queue for the crown jewels is long, but moves quickly, and is worth the wait also the armoury in the white tower is excellent. Fantastic history brought to life!
Very cool place to visit next to the river and the tower bridge especially when the weather is good we went just before Christmas and they have a skating ring outside
What an amazing piece of history. Loved seeing the jewels. WOW. They are so different in person than what you see on TV. FYI parents: This place is a little rough with a stroller and had lots of stairs. Will have to make a second trip when my son is older so we can ditch the stroller and walk.
Amazing day out. There is so much to see. The crown jewels were amazing. The tours with the Beefeaters are free and occur every couple of hours or so and are very insightful, you get a real sense of the history. I highly recommend getting there just before opening time as the queues can get very long and I would also suggest going straight to the crown jewels upon entry as the line moves very slowly and builds up quickly. Also, the food in the cafe is amazing.
Brilliant tour at night by John and Barry. Steeped in history and learnt so much. The tour was fun and exciting and I'd highly recommend anyone to visit the tower at night. I've down the tower of London and the crown jewels but this was the best one
This place has an amazing history. We went on the guided tour and it really was fantastic to learn about the Tower of London. Really you need a minimum of 3 hours here. The queue to see the crown jewels was very long.
Very interesting. Went on a very hot day did not see early. Get there early to see the Crown Jewels to avoid queues later on. Great day out. Will go again
One day will not be enough! Soo much to see, it is hard to see it all, and take in all the details! Great value for money, and the Beefeater tour was fantastic!
A guided tour is a MUST. Your walking on history and it's a great place to study history. This place made England a world power and momentous things happened here. Quite a beautiful place with with a dark history but this is unique and reminds everyone of the history and magnitude of the British Empire and it's on going role in shaping events today...
Considering how much it costs to get into the Tower, I have to say I was slightly underwhelmed by what there was inside. There are some interesting things to look at (assuming you like swords, suits of armour, jewellery, torture instruments and large black birds) but if you go here on a weekend you'll find yourself queuing for absolutely everything. The Crown Jewels were also a lot less impressive than I remember them being when I went there as a child - I also couldn't help thinking as I wandered past the various crowns and sceptres, not 'isn't this impressive/interesting', but 'why have I paid loads of money and queued for ages just to look at a bunch of rich people's stuff?!' ;-) In the interests of full disclosure though: my family enjoyed it more than I did.
Thr Tower of London is a sign for the old power of the britains. You will see and feel a lot of history, but it is huge and impressiv, in particular the crown jewells. You should visit as early as possible, because it is crowded.
The Tower of London is a 900-year-old castle and fortress in central London that is notable for housing the crown jewels and for holding many famous and infamous prisoners.
Throughout its history, the tower has served many purposes: it housed the royal mint (until the early 19th century), a menagerie (which left in 1835), a records office, an armory and barracks for troops. Until the 17th century, it was also used as a royal residence.
First fortifications
William the Conqueror created the first fortifications after the conquest of London in A.D. 1066. The Norman invader lacked support among the people of the city and he feared its inhabitants could throw him out.
William of Poitiers, an 11th century writer who described William the Conqueror and his conquests, wrote that certain strongholds were made in the city against the fickleness of the vast and fierce population. These would come to include what is now called the White Tower, the innermost building in the castle, which gained its named after the exterior was whitewashed in the 13th century by King Henry III.
Tower historian Geoffrey Parnell writes in his book "The Tower of London Past & Present" (Sutton Publishing, 1998) that the tower was expanded for about 250 years after William the Conqueror s time. Today, the complex's series of buildings and fortifications sprawls over 12 acres (5 hectares).
Famous prisoners and torture
Throughout its history the tower was used to imprison a wide range of prisoners, from deposed monarchs to more common criminals. Prisoners included Lady Jane Grey, who was queen for about a week in the 16th century before she was deposed by Mary I.
Two of Henry VIII s wives, Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard, were both imprisoned and later executed. Henry VIII, who turned England into a Protestant country, also had a number of dissenting clergyman committed to the tower and later killed, including his former counselor Thomas More.
School Trip :D Staff was friendly but looked sad, gift shop was quite expensive. I saw the Crown Jewels it was amazing!! Saw a raven - its said the Tower of London have 6 ravens to 'protect' the kingdom if one flies away the kingdom would topple over and fall. (They have spares just in case one does fly away)
Loved the visit. Would definitely recommend. The queue for the kings tower looks bad but generally moves very quickly.
If you can get a Yeoman wardens tour I would definitely recommend it as it allows you to pick up some of the hidden elements of the tower during your visit.
One of the greatest historic places in London to visit. Tower of London is built hundreds or years ago and you can see the architectural patterns of those times, very well preserved. The ancient prison, birds and animals rooms and great. The collection of Crown Jewels is unparallel. Be sure to wear your walking shoes :).
Breath taking views from this fort. Once again the architecture of this fort is a photographer's dream. Not to mention the views from the Balcony. Canons are on display. What would a historical building be without stairs? Lol! These are extremely narrow going up and down. It can get a bit tight when busy. Worth the visit though!
The best is the guide who tells stories and will show you a bit about the place. Then you can buy an audio guide in different languages. Also they have a restaurant there!
Fantastic experience. Worth every penny of the admission. Would recommend taking the guided tour by a Yeoman Guard. These guys are extremely knowlegable, interesting and add an element of humour to learning about the history of the tower and it's inhabitants.
A nice attraction with some good exhibitions. At the time of our visit, it is about the crowns, the soldiers and the armoury. The castle is well maintained and beautiful.
Very quiet at the moment because there are few people visiting London, which meant there was plenty of time to look around without huge crowds everywhere.
Step in history, had an amazing private tour and the saw the very famous ceremony of keys (By Invitation Only) fantastic time don't miss this attraction make it top of your list if you are going to visit London. Big tip, if you like street entertainment walk down down to the Thames river take a picnic with you, or buy some food and drink and take in the wonderful atmosphere with the backdrop of TowerBridge and the Tower of London. You can take a walk along the embankment and experience this tour, either before you take the Tower of London tour or afterwards. There are plenty of coffee shops and kiosks to get food and drinks. Don't rush this by as just a 3 hour attraction as you can spend the whole day there. There is plenty of seating available down by the embankment or you can sit on the outside wall.
So much history. It's worth it to go into the little church and have a Beefeater tell you that you're surrounded by dead people. You can see the crown jewels, traitors gate, the White Tower (dated back to the 11th century), the tower ravens, and all the recreations throughout the tower as you walk through the grounds.
Wow this is just amazing you just feel with your whole body hold this places I suggest you take a tall guy those two guys or not just the two guys there part of the history and the really really good
A must visit tourist attraction!! Such a wonderful exhibtion of early English history and it continued role supporting the monarch today. Make sure you see the Crown Jewellery and the White Tower.
Was so busy and the queue to get to the jewels was sooooo long and uncovered (was raining). Would be so handy if they had an estimated waiting time displayed at main entrance so you could decide whether to go in or return later. That said, overall its a great place.
