This is a definite visit location when in London. It's a little pricey, but well worth the entrance fee. There was a 30 minute line to see the Crown Jewels, but other than that there were no lines. Take the guided tour, it's free and hope you get Clive who was hilarious and interesting. The sites were incredible, you will get many excellent pics.

A must see on a visit to London. The tour guide was absolutely a highlight with his dry humor and thorough explanation of the grounds. The Crown Jewel exhibit was fascinating with a trip through the history of the jewels to where they are today and the fact they are still in use.

The tower of london is an ancient piece of london. One that is a beauty to look at. Take your time to walk around it and to read what epic battles has been fought there. A true testemony of time that hopefully will last another 1000 years.

Very interesting place for a day visit. As expected it is bristling with tourists, but actually really well done the actual site is very clean and well presented. A highlight of the trip were the actor's dressed in old English garb reliving some of the history. The White Tower had some impressive interactive displays and games. There was an enviable queue to see the crown jewels but worth the wait this has been improved by introducing a travelator that carries everyone past the jewels this stop crowds blocking the view. You can go past as often as you like but no blocking.... An excellent solution.

What an incredible tour. Have waited my entire life to see the crown jewels. I had no idea there were as many different towers. The beauty of the Tower Bridge just breathtaking.
The prison for the aristocrats
The prison for the aristocrats
As I informed my 11 year old daughter that my hotel for my upcoming trip was near the Tower of London, she quipped, "what! you are going to stay near a prison?"
It then dawned on me that the tower is indeed prison of many royalties and aristocrats. I also wrongly, seemed to remember, that Mary the queen of Scots was also held there. she wasn't - I later discovered.
I later read from the wiki that only 7 people were executed in the tower, though the common people like me think erroneously that it was the place for execution in the medieval times. I walked to the tower by foot on a feb Sunday, and snapped everything wildly that came in front of me.

My husband and I only had 2 hours here and it wasn't enough; would have liked to do the audioguide if we had more time. The crown jewels were my favorite and since we got there right around opening there was no wait and it wasn't too crowded. We also caught the end of a beefeater tour that was very informative.

This great London's landmark is located exactly before Tower Bridge. Visiting this area you will experience two London's great landmarks. It is relatively easy to arrive at this spot. It is just a walking distance from Tower Hill rail station. Also, bus stops to other area of London and for bus city tour are in front of the Tower.

I'd suggest doing the crown jewels as early as possible as it will become quite crowded

The Tower of London is truly awesome. Bucket List item, for sure. It is overpriced, but then again sometimes you can't put a price on bucket list items when they're as famous and respected as this. I do recommend anyone going and experiencing this at least once. Very impressive and cool place.

Here is London Tower "White Tower" which is one of world heritage.
The history is interring, so please visit inside to understand. The Gift Shop of outside of the tower is always busy, and maybe you can find nice one.
And it takes about 5-6 min from "Tower Hill" Stn on foot, it is close.

Yes! The history! The architecture! The intrigue! The jewels! Honestly, there is so much to see at the Tower. As a history nerd I could spend a week here and still have questions and want to see more, but even as someone who just likes to visit famous landmarks this is a cool place to go. You can see the Crown Jewels, knights, and torture implements all in one go. It s good for all ages (ok, maybe the super young shouldn t go in the torture chamber) but everyone can find something to like at the Tower.

It's a day-out you need to do once in a lifetime and the experience of actually being there is definitely worthwhile.
While the price for entry is quite high you do get a lot included with no extra fees once you get in - and you get a decent discount for buying tickets in advance. I guess the price is comparable with other London visitor attractions.
However, you will want to think about taking your own food as prices in the cafe were extraordinary, particularly if you are going as a family.
The queue for the crown jewels was long but it moved quickly and there was plenty to see on the way round, to the extent that when you actually get to the jewels themselves it is a bit underwhelming - partly this may be because I have had a picture in my mind of jewels in a tower which is not the case, but partly also I think because you don't actually get to see the crown jewels for that long compared to how long it takes to get to them.
Overall, a good family visit for us with three children (6, 9 & 11 years old) and one adult. I definitely recommend it.

It is an amazing place. Lot's of history you can learn and the tour guides are the perfect teachers. They teach and give well done jokes so that you are not going to fall asleep as soon as you walk in the first tower. Overall, an amazing place to spend your time, tiering for the legs but I guess it secondary.
You will love it here!

Splendid! Such a great time exploring the tower, for a self guided tour the information was easy to read and access beautiful grounds great view of the city and amazing history..
When you stand on the tower.. you are essentially standing on a fortress that the ROMANS initially built.. it's incredible.
Save you money and don't buy the food on sight, bourough market is not far away and is TOTALLY worth checking out.

To start we did the Yeoman Warder Tour which was informative and entertaining which we thoroughly recommend doing. We also saw the Crown Jewels which is a jaw-dropping display crowns, swords, ceremonial maces, coronation robes etc etc. Then we visited The White Tower and saw a stunning array of arms and armour. Following that we visited The Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula which is the final resting place for two of Henry VIII's wives Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard amongst others. Unfortunately there was more to see but we didn't have time. Please note that seniors (65+ yrs) get reduced admission prices.

Easy to get to from Central London, you just follow the signs from the Tower Hill tube station. There's a great guide book you can get, if you add it to your advanced ticket. This will give you detailed information about the place, whilst a free map helps you navigate.
You first begin with the medieval areas, comprising of a bed chamber and chapel. Then move on to the White Tower built by William the Conquerer. After this there's the armoury, including modern jewelled pieces and combined weapons
Finally reaching the Crown Jewels, you get to see them in all their splendor
Back outside you have giant ravens, Grenadier Guards drilling, and Traitors gate.
It'll take over two hours, to get around the place; and that's with the barracks (and other areas) closed.

So much to see and do, fun for all the family. See the Crown Jewels secured under armed guard in the Jewel House, breathtaking and Beautiful collections with a collection of 23,578 gemstones which are still used in royal ceremonies today.
The Ravens, go and find out why they are know as "The Guardians of the Tower" and why? It is said that the kingdom and the Tower of London will fall if the Ravens ever leave the fortress.
The entertaining, interesting and fascinating tours of the Yeoman Warders, also know as 'Beefeaters'
You will also find out about the infamous prisoners who were imprisoned in the Tower. The last or maybe last people to be imprisoned in the Tower were the Kray twins, London's infamous gangsters who roamed the streets in the 50s and the 60s.
The Kray twins were called for national service with the Royal Fusillers, they attempted to leave and punched a corporal on the chin and then walked back to London's East End. They were arrested and held in the Tower of London for a couple of days and then transfered to Shepton Mallat milltary prison to await Court martial.
Guy Fawkes, also know as Guido Fawkes, who was a member of a group of provincial English Catholics, who planned the failed Gunpowder plot on the Houses of Parliament was also imprisoned in the Tower.
I can't recommend a visit enough, you will love it.

Visiting here is expensive but it s worth going to for the sake of seeing the Crown Jewels, Crows- yes, the actual bird (you ll see why when you get there) and eating ice cream on a hot summers day. Beefeaters speeches is cool too and so are the built-in tours. You won t be able to see it all in one day, more like two unless you re incredibly determined and focused. Tough one in the humid summer! My only observation is an equality exclusion issue: where are all the black people in all this history? I know we were around and I know it wouldn t be exciting but it is part of history you cannot and should not exclude. It happened. If that was included I would give it a 5/5.

An amazing day out. Plenty to do and to see as well as events hourly and guided tours.
The tower offers an authentic historic experience and one in which you'll be able to fully immerse yourself in the displays, rooms and atmosphere. The tower also has a cafe you can eat out at with surprisingly good food. The beefeaters here and soldiers also provide some authenticity.
Between getting up close with a raven, a good long chat with a beefeater and spending the entire day here, overall it was my favourite day out in London.
If you're staying at canary wharf it's a short chipper water taxi away which also adds to the experience as you'll see traitors gate from the Thames up close.

Hugely historic with great displays and an outstanding staff. Each person you meet is just a fountain of historical information. Even having a casual conversation with the staff is worth your time when they share what they know. They have a passion for what they do. Even meeting one of the new male staff members was fun as he was learning the history from two experienced females staff members, so it made for a varied discussion from historical to how the place is cleaned. Thanks for the experience and taking time to explain things to me. I also want to thank one of the staff in historical costume in one of the prison areas for sharing his knowledge. He was great with some of the graffiti, as well as ,keeping the prisoner in place.

This is one of my absolute favorite sites in London. It is a little pricey, but worth every bit. I took the guided tour which was free. The guide was very funny and offered loads of information that made the experience more valuable. There are incredible sites inside including the tomb of Anne Boleyn and the Crown Jewels. I especially loved the bit of living history role playing by costumes actors. I would go again!

You may not think there is much inside but there was quite a lot to see and do. Very intriguing facts and I highly recommend going on one of the guided tours that happens every half hour or so. They will definitely give you a more in depth history about all of the buildings and who some of the prisoners were. Very mind-boggling just who has been in the Tower of London and you will definitely leave happy and maybe a bit scared.
