I had really a great experience with my visa demand. I was prepared and didn't have any problems with getting the visa. The only thing is that there are lot of people waitning, so you should come as early as possible (it doesn't matter what time is indicated at your reservation) and just be patient. Don't bring electronic equipment nor USB keys. At the end you just need a good reason to go to the states and be honest in front of the people who are interviewing you; they know when you are lying or not telling everything. They tell you right away if you get your visa or not. If they take your pasport, it'a good sign. Good luck to all and be safe!

After losing my bag with my wallet, passport, ever...

After losing my bag with my wallet, passport, everything in it, going to the Embassy was quite a pleasant experience. I had a flight at 5pm that day home and they assured me I would have no problem getting it in time from the very beginning.

A couple tips... go early! The line only gets longer throughout the day. I got there at 8:45am and had passport in hand before 11am.
...forms: don t bother printing. Everything has to be done through a computer check in when you get there whether you fill them out beforehand or not.
...photo: they have a machine. This line gets long so you may want to do this first.
...money: came to 125 euros and then 4 euros for the picture. It was very helpful that I had this money.

Overall, for a terrible situation, the kind, helpful people there made sure that everything was going to be okay and I was going to get home.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! USA!

They sent me an email saying that I could get my passport between 9-11 and 1-4. They did not mention the fact that they are closed on weekends and holidays, which would have been nice to know before I spent 100 on train tickets to get there, only to be yelled at by a gendarmerie in broken English. Something tells me that since I m not a rich white guy who s allegedly committed sexual assault, they re not going to help me out.

What a shame to call that place an embassy! People working there are rude and won't even help you or answer a question. If this job is too hard for you, let it to somebody who will do it correctly and politely.

Pitiful....you can't get any help from them. I am a US citizen currently in France and had a specific question. I had to go meandering through their automated system before I got to speak to anyone. Sounds like a teenager answered me and she put me straight back to the automated system.

Poor service and cheeky switchboard operator. I called 3 times (with two different numbers) to be sent back brutally and in a very impolite way by a girl in lack of joy of living. I was calling for specific information as part of my job. I did not get any information. Thank you Embassy.

Very professional staff, quite friendly, very reasonable waiting time, nothing to say. Thank you.
For those who apply for an American visa and they try to make conforming photos, there is a photo booth at the embassy where we can make a photo conform to 4 euro, I had to pay 12 euro for 4 photos and a another friend of mine who paid them 24 euro: a scam.

Took about 1.5 hrs to replace a stolen passport with and emergency passport. There were only about 3 other people there so I would expect it to take more time if they are busy. You cannot bring phones inside so if you have document information on your phone write it down to take inside. Every member of your party will need ID to get through security, they accepted a picture of the stolen passport off a phone. Everyone we encountered was helpful, professional, and friendly. Truly a pleasant experience under less than ideal circumstances.

Nothing has me more! I am extremely disappointed, following several phone calls voicemail that offers different numbers for different services offers nothing for my case! And when a telephone secretary answers she automatically transfers me to the voice answering machine!
It's very annoying! And I am referred to the site ... And the site does not answer my questions!

Friendly welcome, even very friendly according to the windows. At the reception, they will not keep your luggage bag if you take one and you must leave it in a convenience store, be careful! I did not take my phone or USB drive as required. I think I was the only one, 1/1000 as the agent told me.They will keep your phone off in a plastic bag at the entrance in the worst case. I had appointment at 9:30 and Arriving at 8:00, I went out at 9:30

Don't call, write to them. I once came across the telephone "service" and I came across the so-called extremely rude switchboard operator. I understood at that moment that I would not get anything through this, so I wrote them a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt and there I had an almost immediate response (within three days!). The switchboard is a disaster, but the mail seems to be working well. Twice I wrote to them, and twice I got quick and clear answers. I have to contact them again, I will write to them again. Don't call, write to them. Hoping that the answers will be as quick to arrive as we were mine.

When you call to ask a question, it loops you through about a hundred different options. Then, when you think you've finally landed on the one you need, it's a voice recording telling you to go to the website. So -- go to the website, can't find an answer, call -- get sent back to the website. Fun times, embassy. Fun. times.

My passport was stolen from my car on a Saturday. The car was broken into and ALL my documents were taken. Never leave your passport anywhere where it can be taken. Unfortunately, I had to wait until Monday to get my passport. I arrived at the American Embassy at 7:30 and was first in line. All the necessary forms are on the internet. You can complete them and save them to a pdf. My hotel was able to print the pdf. The embassy has a photomat for your photo picture. Wait until you get to the embassy, because they will not accept the photos taken in the Metro photomat. You have to present your completed forms with a picture, take a number and wait to be called. There are two interviews. I had my new temporary passport by 10:00 am. I am so happy I am an American and was able to recover from this minor disaster so quickly. Thanks to all professional, pleasant, intelligent staff of the American Embassy in Paris. Jo-Ann Herrick

Since this morning I call, I came across two different operators who do not listen to what I tell them once in French and the other in English (I am bilingual). I have a visa expiring this summer and my passport expired last summer. So I have a new passport and a valid visa on my old passport and I wanted to know if I can travel with the two passports ... ??. At no time the answer is in their programmed machine .... but they tilt you without letting you finish! without understanding the subject of the request !!!! it is lamentable as service !!!!

If the Ricans were not there, you would all be in Germany to talk about I don't know what, to greet I don't know who. A guy from Georgia who didn't give a damn about you came to die in Normandy, one morning when you weren't there. Of course the years have passed, the rifles have changed hands, is that a reason to forget that one day we needed them.

The American Embassy in Paris, France is above all...

The American Embassy in Paris, France is above all a testament to the little faith that our country puts into its own citizens. Our own nation has no confidence in its own citizens - therefore very few Embassy employees are American. They are all mostly French, whether of either European or Maghrebin origin. This proclaims to the world that Americans are so useless and incompetent that our own government prefers to hire foreignerd in even the hightly secure areas of its operations: its foreign embassies.

It would be nice to meet with a real, down to earth American when you are on foreign soil. Instead you are presented this rarefied, pretentious facade of of unsympathetic foreigners. No one cares about you at all unless you are a quite wealthy or representing an important financial entity such as an important corporation. Money and prestige is all that matters.

This embassy is a testament to America's betrayal of her own people. Whenever I go to the embassy of any other nation besides our own, I am constantly confronted by people who are citizens of said nation. In the embassies of other nations, the governmental employees always present a united front. In the embassies of other nations, the governmental employees always reflect the values and character of the associated nation. They can even be quite rejecting and hostile. When I had to go to the French Embassy in New York City, I met only extremely hostile, unsympathetic and un-indulgent FRENCH CITIZENS who were and are perfectly fluent in French.
Behold! When you go to our own corresponding embassy in Paris you will once again only meet with mostly FRENCH CITIZENS who are also extremely hostile, unsympathetic and un-indulgent. They just happen to have a green card. When will being American actually mean something to our government.

When will we begin to be valorized and honored by our own nation at home and in the world? Does our own nation see us as country bumpkins who are unworthy to represent America?

I am a multilingual American with the right to work in France, extremely competent but my own country prefers to hire a hostile; ironic, supercilious French woman instead of hiring an ordinary American. This auto flagellation, self-abnegation and belittlement presages poorly for our future as the first of First World Nation.

I would rate this -10, worst service ever, bad attitude, they don't answer you anything you don't know. Green card stolen, I set up an emergency appointment Monday night via E-mail, received an answered next morning scheduling me for Thusdays morning! I guess that's an emergency for them. Once I got in to the building all I had to do is get in line and go through stations. They told me I would receive an email next day to pick up my passport by 3pm, and guess what? I got nothing!!! I still showed up and all I got what "it's up to Washington D.C. whenever they want to send the transportation permit". My flight was scheduled for Saturday morning, we had to stay in Paris way more days than expected being that it was the weekend. THANKS AMERICA FOR YOUR CRAPPY SERVICES, AND SPECIALY TO MILITARY FAMILIES!!

Got my visa application refused twice here, each time for a different pretext. I was told that I wasn't well established in France, I don't know how can you be more established than when having a well paid unlimited contract in a bank in Paris. But I was clearly born in the wrong country. And on top of that I consider myself robbed of 288 euros in total. What a shame

I somehow lost my passport in Amsterdam while traveling in Europe in August 2017; Paris was the last stop before flying to Iceland, so I went to the embassy there to get a travel document, fully expecting to stay an extra day to complete the process. The embassy staff were incredibly organized, efficient, and compassionate; in less than two hours, I was on my way with a replacement passport!! I was amazed, impressed and grateful.

I was there to apply for a tourist visa as I had to go to the USA for 5 months. So I made all the steps online, paid the fees and at the end I got my appointment.
The day of the appointment there were armed men in front of, it was really secure, search bag ... I took a ticket and I waited. Arrived in front of the person with my file, I am asked where I am going to live, what am I going to do ... and that I give my documents. After checking, she wanted more documents and what was nice was that no need to return to the spot. I got an email address. I returned the missing documents by mail and a week later I was sent back my passport with a valid visa for 10 years. For a maximum of 6 months a year in the USA. So perfect and fast

I have never felt so frustrated all my life today. I was refused a tourist visa for a reason that I totally ignore to my amazement !! I met all the conditions for a stay of a fortnight to go to this country that I just wanted to visit while being hosted by a friend. My locker is blank, my work situation stable because being in the same company since 1995, in short I feel like having a cold shower !!
Finally, perhaps having a Maghreb-sounding name can sometimes destroy all chances of obtaining a US visa. Pity

I have experienced the embassy both as citizen and a green card holder...citizen are treated waaayyyy better...for a green card holder, they wont even bother picking up the phone and ask you to send an email, which, well, they won't answer either in a timely manner...the USA cannot take care of a green card holder properly? it's called work...I dont think the people that go there do half of what they should do in a day...I guess it's fun to make people miserable during a vacation or time off...1 star just 'cause I had to!!!
