I was at the AvH in the mathematical science class from 2010 to 2014. The secondary school activities like the AvH concert were great, the atmosphere very busy. The teaching staff is very mixed, there is a lot of commitment, especially among the younger teachers (under 50) and the lessons there were also fun. Unfortunately, this was made up for by some older teachers who actively put students under stress and sometimes put them down when they do not understand something directly or have problems with the material. Two girls were bullied out of my class and, at least in my understanding, my class teacher didn't do anything about it and handed the task over to the other 13-14 year olds. The demands are above average and I have the feeling that everything was always conveyed in a very 'academic' way that not everyone picked up. I personally would recommend this school only to a very limited extent, because even though I am currently studying in the scientific field, it feels less stressful than my school time at the AvH.

Individual teachers determine which children do not fit into the profile and are mated with blessing from the top, At the beginning of the school year, these teachers already determine who has to leave the "great gymnasium" at the end of the school year.

Very incapable of communication and questionable views of some teachers about especially secondary school pupils. The school management is very distant from the pupils and the punishments for minor things are an oral warning (or verbal reprimand) and for worse things it is also an oral warning . The technology is outdated and no longer reasonable.

At least a few years ago, bullying was the order of the day at this school and the teachers did nothing about it. This school was so incredibly backbone, I can't imagine that anything has changed that great.

About Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is a prestigious organization that aims to promote academic and scientific cooperation between Germany and the rest of the world. Founded in 1953, it has since become one of the most respected institutions in its field, offering a wide range of programs and opportunities for researchers, scholars, and professionals from all over the globe.

At its core, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is dedicated to fostering excellence in research and innovation. Its mission is to support outstanding individuals who have demonstrated exceptional talent and promise in their respective fields, providing them with resources, networks, and platforms to further their work.

One of the key ways that the foundation achieves this goal is through its various fellowship programs. These programs are designed to bring talented individuals from around the world to Germany for extended periods of time so that they can conduct research or pursue other academic activities at some of Germany's top universities or research institutions.

For example, one popular program offered by the foundation is called "Research Fellowships". This program provides funding for highly qualified scientists and scholars from abroad who wish to carry out long-term research projects at German universities or non-university research institutions. The fellowships are open to researchers at all stages of their careers – from postdoctoral researchers just starting out on their academic journey all the way up to established professors with years of experience under their belts.

Another important program offered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is called "Georg Forster Research Fellowship". This program provides funding for postdoctoral researchers from developing countries who wish to conduct research projects in Germany. The aim here is not only to support individual researchers but also to help build capacity within developing countries by providing opportunities for talented individuals there.

In addition to these fellowship programs, there are many other initiatives run by the foundation aimed at promoting international cooperation in science and academia. For example, it organizes conferences and workshops on various topics related to science policy or interdisciplinary collaboration; it supports networking events where scientists can meet each other; it offers mentoring programs for young academics; it runs an alumni network connecting former fellows with each other as well as with potential collaborators back home.

Overall then, if you're looking for an organization that truly embodies excellence in academia – both within Germany itself as well as across borders – then look no further than Alexander von Humboldt Foundation! With its wide range of fellowship programs aimed at supporting talented individuals from around world along with numerous initiatives promoting international cooperation among scientists across disciplines - this institution truly stands out as a leader when it comes fostering innovation through collaboration!
