Enquired about spa package, front of house were not very responsive about the request so put me on the phone to an advisor who quoted more than what I had been offered fro their web page before I walked in. No one seemed to want to show me around and when I did find someone I was at a pace of a slow jog. It's safe to say if you want to know about this venue try and find someone who has been. Never the less from what I did see my self and away from the 'too busy to talk staff, the grounds and hotel were spectacular. I would recommend going here, however patience is needed in abundance for the lack of interaction and customer care the staff offer.

Lovely looking place but horribly managed. Staff are nice but don't have a clue, food quality is mediocre at best, and the afternoon tea, if they'll give it to you, is a joke. Many better places nearby. Go elsewhere.

Spent a few days here for an event and decided to stop on for an additional day and evening. Beautiful grounds, excellent attention to detail, lovely spa and pool, excellent service and food that was very well presented and tasted divine. The terrace area was particularly nice on a summers evening to sit with a drink.. Very peaceful.

We had a modern looking room, nice size and lovely shower. I believe the hotel is in the process of having other room renovated.
Great location to travel into London as there's a train station just down the road.
Breakfast was nice, although pretty standard. We didn't stay for any other meals.
Made use of the gym, you walk through a maze to find it bit when we did we had it to ourselves. Good job as it wasn't very big.

Wonderful surroundings and wonderful food. Good disability access to room but very bumpy on the walk around the gardens. No disability access to outdoor pool which is a shame. A few things need looking at with regards to disability access but better than most places. The suite was fantastic.

Seriously disappointed. My mother said on her 87th birthday that she had never been out for a really nice afternoon tea so I asked around for recommendations and everyone said Tylney Hall.
Firstly there was no disabled parking but I was able to drop Mum at the door and take her inside while I went to park the car.
My Mum was seated and her coat was taken but when I returned no-one approached me and I had to ask for menus when I saw a group of new arrivals being seated and the menu explained. We were asked to wait and after a few more minutes the menu arrived amidst apologies for the delay. So, another wait before our order was taken and another wait for the drinks. More apologies and still we waited. In fact, a group that came in after us finished their tea and left before ours arrived. In total we waited one hour and 15 minutes for the food. The tea was cold and was promptly replaced before the sandwiches arrived.
Turns out three members of staff had called in sick. It would have made sense to explain this when we arrived as we would have made allowances but all in all it just smacked of bad organisation. The waiting staff that were there were very pleasant but some people were definitely served before us even though they arrived later.

I certainly will not be recommending Tylney Hall. All in all, I feel very let down and disappointed by something that was supposed to be a special surprise.

This was our first stay at this lovely hotel, the room was perfect the lounge, bar and dining room are comfortable and are pleasant places to sit and relax, the extensive gardens are beautiful and great for a walk; the staff were all helpful and friendly, the hotel was clean and everyone wore masks and we felt safe in this time of Covid. Highly recommend.
We will definitely be booking a stay here again.

Amazing hotel in even more amazing surrounding. Rooms are quite a bit tricky to find if you are not accomodated in the main house but there is always friendly staff to guide you.
Wonderful bar with good selection of drinks. Superb breakfast.
Fully recommendable.

Hotel is nice if a bit dated. Room service food was very good. Unfortunately we had Room 15 which seemed lovely until we found it was above a function room. The noise of the party directly below kept us awake until after 1.30am. I don't think this room should be allocated when the function room is being used. There was also a huge crack in the wash basin. Should we expect this in a hotel of this standard and price? Also have to say the buffet breakfast was spoilt by having cold plates which meant breakfast got cold almost immediately. This really needs addressing. No comment cards available at reception! Overall not worth what we paid for an overnight stay and disappointed

Whoooo what a suprise this hotel. Enormous gardens, massive building and off course much space. You need google maps/waze to find your room . Staff is friendly and helpfull, what you should expect in this kind of hotels. Because the building is old the rooms are big and old...but they are clean and everything is working with a perfect bed and the heating can be turned off . Breakfast is alacarte and some yoghurt and bread, dinner is perfect. The Gym has everything you need, they have even a nice swimming pool and sauna.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days so I feel we can give a pretty fair review of the rooms, facilities and service.

The grounds and the property in general are exceptional - truly one of the most beautiful country houses I ve had the pleasure of visiting. In the sunshine, the outdoor pool is also very nice, though how much you ll be able to enjoy it will depend on how many screaming children are let loose. On the days we visited, children were jumping into the pool pretty much non-stop for 8 hours. This would be fine in a huge pool, but it s only small and we were expecting something more gentile from what we d seen online.

The biggest let down was the service. Everyone was lovely - greeted us with beaming smiles and very polite. Unfortunately they were just very slow and inattentive. We had to chase staff on multiple occasions because we d been simply forgotten about.

The stay was capped by a cold breakfast on the last morning. The trays of cooked breakfast looked like they d been left out from the day before and the hot plates clearly weren t on. After asking staff for our food to be heated after we d plated up we were simply forgotten about. We again had to chase staff who eventually brought out a completely different plate of food to our table - I m not sure whose it was but we picked up a couple of bashed pastries instead.

My advice - book the hotel without breakfast, enjoy the beautiful grounds, bring your own drinks and snacks so that you don t have to contend with the service, then take advantage of either one of the 3 great pubs within a 15 minute walk.

Lovely country hotel, great breakfast and staff were lovely. The SPA let's it all down... indoor pool very cold, the only sauna which is located in the mens changing room is tiny and fits 1 person. No steam room.

A wonderful peaceful setting for a hotel, beautiful gardens. Food was very good, and the staff are always happy to help. I'd go there again for a short break or a spa day. It was a great find for our team workshop!

My mum and I did the spa pamper day. All the star were excellent and attentive. We were shown around when we arrived and then had a cup of coffee by the fire. We went for a walk around all the grounds, which are beautiful. Then we spent a few hours using the gym, pool, whirlpool and sauna. We got lunch and another cup of tea. Lunch was a varied "lunch box". Mine was specially catered for lactose free. Then we went to the spa and had massages and facials. All for 100 pounds a person. Beautiful Hall and great value for money!

Fantastic setting and lovely gardens we had a gift for Christmas to go here for afternoon tea, which was delicious, then went for a stroll in the gardens and then say on one of the benches in the garden and soaked up the evening Sun !!

Great location, super service, but the food needs to be improved. This Hotel and resaurant has so much going for it. The resaurant looks just as you wanted, just as you dare hope for. So why is the food so, well, ordinary? Come on Tylney Hall, get your act together; you need a young Michael Cain!
I've dined twice for lunch and once for supper: just the same. Want the missing wow from the kitchen.

The hotel is beautiful, we had great weather so the outdoor pool is a great place to be, great rooms and the amenities are great as well. Given the nature of the hotel it is very expensive for food and drinks, that would be ok if the service wasnt the worst I've experienced in any 'luxury' hotel I've ever stayed in. 55 minutes for a member of staff to appear in the middle of the afternoon to take a drinks order, then close to 30 mins for two glasses of wine to arrive and this wasnt once this was over the two days we were there and everytime, many other guests experienced the same to the point it became a joke as everyone was trying to find someone to order a drink or lunch from, breakfast was as bad, 40 mins for coffee to arrive after being asked to sit in a meeting room because the restaurant was too busy. I'm not sure if it's severely understaffed or just poorly run, if it wasnt for the gardens and building it would be a 2 star hotel at best because the service is honestly beyond shocking! We did bring the issues up on site and all we got from the staff was they had problems in the kitchen or one told us it was her first day and she didn't know how to order drinks, which seemed bizarre for someone who's job is to order and deliver drinks. If you like beautiful hotels and dont mind waiting for over an hour for a glass of wine to then be charged through the nose for it then you'll love it, if you expect a good standard of service to go with the high cost you pay, there are better options available for a weekend break.

Great location but the service was suboptimal. No phone in our room, and the room was not cleaned well. Also the breakfast service was very poor with cold toast and hard boiled eggs instead of soft

Excellent hotel. The staff, the rooms, the selection of foods & drinks are superb. My wife has been on crutches due to an injury before we arrived and the staff have been so so good with us. The grounds are to die for. We'll have to come back again so we can explore properly.

Beautiful house and gardens. My boyfriend and I popped in for a drink and were welcomed on to the terrace. I then chose the restaurant for my birthday meal with family where we were very well looked after. Complimentary amuse-bouche was a lovely touch. All four courses were of a very high standard. A favourite country hotel of ours.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and grounds. We stayed in the main building which was lovely. High ceilings tastefully decorated, well equipped (no fridge) and a large jacuzzi bath.
All of the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. My wife used the spa facilities which she was very pleased with. Indoor & outdoor swimming pools (outdoor closed during our Mar visit). Beautiful rooms to have meals and cocktails. The main restaurant well worth a visit just by itself. Highly recommended for a day or stay.

The hotel is amazing. Great facilities including indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, full size snooker table and beauty spa to mention but a few.

Food was excellent. There are two levels of restaurant, we only experienced the bar food which very good quality. There is a fine dining restaurant available as well. Breakfast was also lovely. Full selection of hot and cold breakfast buffet.

Staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. From reception to waiting staff they all went the extra mile with good clear leadership and support from supervisors.

Would strongly recommend a stay. Oh almost forgot one of my best bits. I love the gardens. They go on for miles and the planting is spectacular, could happily get lost wondering around.

I stayed with a friend for a Sunday night spa break and it was fantastic. The room was huge and very comfortable. Our spa treat was so relaxing with a very warm and calm pool area. The spa staff were very accomadating as i am six months pregnant. The dinner, which was included in our deal, was delicious and the dining room was bright and airy. A lovely walk around the beautiful grounds ended our stay. I can't recommend the hotel and spa enough. I thank the staff for making our stay so wonderful.

I felt the hotel has not portrayed itself fairly on its website and the customer service was poor.

The spa facilities are dreadful.
The indoor pull was quite grubby and had room for only a few deck chairs at one end. This is not a spa facility by any means. If wanting a spa break, this is not a hotel to visit.
The jacuzzi was only large enough for two people and the saunas were just stuck in the changing rooms. The hotel is large with over 100 rooms, so you can imagine the 3 indoor lounge chairs, 2 seater jacuzzi and (guess) 20m pool were fairly constantly occupied.

The outside pool was lovely and very scenic. The water was heated and there was more seating here, but being the UK this is unusable most of the year for obvious reasons.

The service was shoddy and uncaring. Staff were fairly terse and the operational systems were obviously flawed. The breakfast was a maul and tepidly warm, upon checkout nobody had any idea what we had actually ordered and the majority of guests leaving were complaining about various aspects.

In the evening the food was as good as a reasonable gastropub and enjoyable / tasty. It is not high end dining. The building and grounds are really spectacular but neither of these factors can make up for the embittered environment of the hotel.

The prices are astronomical for the quality, which I feel the owners (elite hotels) feel is there, but really is not.

Pretty dreadful for the price. Go to Clivedon House instead.

Staff not only forgot to place our lunch and drink...

Staff not only forgot to place our lunch and drinks order until chased, they also couldn t be bothered to bring us the bottle of champagne we ordered at dinner despite repeatedly asking several different waiters for 45minutes. They instead left it by the door in an ice bucket across the room. Our order for coffee and toast at breakfast also did not arrived until we'd finished breakfast and were ready to leave, again after chasing. Every other diner received their orders within 5/10 minutes of being seated. We seem to be the only people experiencing such terrible service, as everyone else (non mixed couples) around us readily received their orders (most of them having placed them after we had).

Staff were rude and unapologetic. They should hire more staff in busy periods to avoid having to tell guests that they are simply too busy to do their jobs properly. In the time the pool staff took to finally bring us our food and drinks, we had walked back and forth from the pool to the hotel bar twice and had two separate rounds of drinks. As stated above, every other person around us had been served drinks, some had even ordered 30 minutes after we did. I was promised a call from the manager after making a formal complaint, but have not received any contact from the hotel.

The only compensation we received were free desserts at dinner and the waiter brought us extra bread rolls as we had to wait over an hour for one course with no explanation about the delay.

I will not be staying here again and would not recommend that anyone stay here unless you would like to be treated like a second class citizen for a lot of money. What was meant to be a nice weekend treat in the sunshine, became a terrible weekend of being ignored and looked down upon.

An absolute gem! I visited Tylney Hall for afternoon tea and I must say I was in awe at the surroundings. It was raining so I couldn't tour the grounds, but what I could see took my breath away. Staff went above and beyond, they were all helpful and couldn't do enough for us. I give 4 purely because we had to wait a little longer because it was busy.

We stayed in an executive double room which placed us in one of the Lakeside Suites and it was beautiful. An absolutely lovely room very clean and very spacious. The room service was fairly fast and very good as was the buffet English breakfast. The grounds are also lovely. The staff are all attentive and excellent. We definitely will be back.

Fantastic maintained gardens , greenery is fabulous . Rooms are well equipped and airy . The only negative is the service for breakfast . Its ok to have less choices but having to wait for the refill to arrive is poor. This needs improving to match the great customer service .

Had Afternoon Tea Experience as part of my 50th birthday present from my daughter. Extremely polite atentative staff, lovely setting and gorgeous food. Didn't disappoint. Part way through the tea a member of staff came over with a plate decorated with fudge pieces and a lovely chocolate Happy Birthday message complete with candle...made my day. Thank you to everyone.

I feel compelled to write and say how memorable the staff made our recent stay at Tylney Hall. From the wonderful choice of bedrooms in the mansion house to the excellent food and service we received... everything was perfect. Amber in reservations ensured we experienced a seamless booking and assigned my parents ( elite members) to the most delightful mansion house suite. She also cleverly ensured the rest of the family (10 of us, over three generations) were given fantastic rooms next to one another which was ideal. Needless to say my parents will renew their elite membership, as we really did have an exceptional experience, one that I can highly recommend for all the family to enjoy. I must add in addition the restaurant and reception staff were also excellent. 10/10 for Tylney Hall

Booked this last minute when the air bridges came ...

Booked this last minute when the air bridges came down and as a family of four with a young baby we had a wonderful time overall. The grounds and manor itself are absolutely stunning and getting lost in the water gardens was one of our highlights. The vista from the back of the manor with towering redwoods and the Italian gardens are equally breathtaking.
The only issue with the the hotel is that the outside appearances do not quite reflect the interior.
They were brilliantly set-up for COVID with hand sanitising stations by most entrances and masks not mandatory but recommended. The swimming pool also ran a timing system, although not very well enforced with some people confused by the armband system.
Jessica on the front desk is worth her weight in gold and everything we asked for was sorted promptly, communicated quickly if it wasn't and always with a smile. She's a real asset to the property.
The Oak Room restaurant was also very good for the one evening meal we ate there and service was equally good here without a long wait between courses. You also have breakfasts here, although that was a different story.
Great selection of choices but every morning we ate there, there was always a ridiculously long wait for some items. One morning it was fourty minutes for yogurts, our last morning it was fifty minutes for my wife's breakfast which was a selection of meat and cheese. We couldn't fathom why it was so hard with not that many covers to serve so put it down to COVID and their processes.

For our room, we opted for a suite as we had a baby and a young child and it was very large with a mini bar fridge and a great view of the vista. However, with the exception of the lounge and reception in the hotel, everything is starting to look very outdated and tired and has lost its vintage 'charm'.
Our bathroom was large and a jacuzzi bath was lovely but the overall feel of it was an average three star not a four star. The room itself also had scratched furniture and bits of wallpaper peeling off. Again, for the amount you pay, you'd expect the room to be just a little bit more up to high standard.
The hallways suffer from worn and very old carpets and we just felt for how gorgeous this property is and everything else it has going for it, a revamp would make this a real destination hotel.
That's not to say we didn't enjoy it, we had a wonderful break and the children loved both indoor and outdoor pools. We've stayed I quite a few hotels in the UK and abroad from budget to five star and can safely say if you're looking for value for money, Tylney Hall although gorgeous with a lot going for it sadly falls slightly wide of the mark.

Lovely stay and a great room. The grounds are amazingly well kept and the staff were generally welcoming. Other guests seemed a little up tight, but that didn't spoil the stay. Would recommend for the gardens also.

With tour operator Garden Tours to England. This location is also on the program. Coffee and tea in thermos flasks with a "plastic wrapped cookie", self-service. Not seen much more inside, but all the more outside. Three gardeners show us the extensive garden. Certainly the philosophy behind the construction (for a period of 30 years). The variety is fantastic !!!

Beautiful building and grounds provide an excellent place to walk around but the hotel its self is starting to look a little scruffy. The bathroom had mould in the shower and the decor in the main areas was looking tired rather than elegant.
The "spa" has a indoor and outdoor pool but no steam room or hot tub and the sauna fits 1 person and is located separately in the male and female changing rooms.

Stayed on business, clean room, extremely friendly staff and a good choice of wine. Restaurant menu is a little limited if you are a fussy eater. Had a very quiet stay and would happily stay again.
