I have been to the gallery twice before and enjoyed it, but the current exhibition is batting the game out of the park. The pieces are thoughtfully chosen and sensitively displayed: I wish I had time to go round again. Look out for the exquisite little Turners and Tracey Emin's cat......

Surprised that it was really good - the venue, next to a stinking mound of seaweed on Margate, wasn't I spiring, but the displays were excellent with a mix of contemporary and traditional art. Well worth a visit. Helpful and informative staff.

Great location, interesting building.... Exhibition on 'Risk' had about five items worth considering. The remainder was pretentiously explained and really not worth exhibiting in my personal opinion.

Only been a couple of times as Margate is a good hours drive away. Both times I have been there has been interesting exhibits. The recent one was of particular interest to me as it was photography based, which is my main hobby and interest. Not a big gallery and you will probably only need an hour or so to take it all in but definitely well worth a visit.

Whilst the gallery was amazing the experience in the coffee shop wasn t - very poor selection of things to eat and when asked if anything was gluten free (my husband has celiac s) the staff were very offhand and said we could have the oat flapjack which obviously we couldn t - given the current profile of allergies you need to get your act together.

An Arty Seaside day-out 90 minutes from St Pancras International followed by a 15 minute walk from Margate station to the Turner gallery along a crescent sandy beach. Free entry, donations accepted. Friendly and helpful staff throughout and fully accessible. Inspirational installation by Yinke Shonibare, romantic views from the enormous windows and delicious savoury and sweet treats in the southwest facing cafe. There was a wedding party taking place in the afternoon therefore no access to Leise Wilson's 365 Days exhibition.

Only ground floor open - more staff than there were members of the public, exhibition was very poor and exhibits were less than 20 items (seriously)...... so I wonder how they can justify money being thrown at a place like this from the public purse

Two big windows to capture the sea view that so inspired Turner, but Contemporary Art...like marmite. I wouldn't have thought my love for Surrealism, The Metaphysicals and Pop Art put me in the mainstream but horses for courses.

Not much there and what's there is basic, quite disappointing. However, the arts and craft event was great fun for the kids. All in all, not the best experience but far from the worst, wouldn't recommend for anyone who's not majorly into art.

They tried to strike a balance between modern and traditional art but there isn t sufficient space to do justice to both.

The cafe served ok food but the prices are aimed at those down from london and the quality did not warrant the cost.

Worth a visit but don t plan to spend more than 30minutes.

Art? Hmmmmm! Rarely anything displayed that impresses. I understand people have different ideas about what is considered art so I'm sure some people find something of interest here but personally I have found the exhibitions mostly very poor and left a bit miffed and disappointed.

The photography exhibition was dull.pictures were very small and set out with little thought. No story lead you through the exhibits.
However, the wall drawings by a local artist were worth the visit for those alone.

Not a patch on the Baltic Flour Mill or Tate Modern.

Having visited was not impressed by the Art, the room where the schools displayed was more impressive. The cafe's menu was very restrictive you could not get a sandwich and if you wanted brown bread and no cheese then you would starve.

Forget the cost of the building. This is a wonderful attempt to bring something new and spectacular to Margate. The exhibitions themselves do vary in quality but it's always worth the visit. Hey! It's free after all.

A lot of space with nothing to show,I often wonder if the money spent was worth the Turner,Thanet is short on places for people to work. The Turner does have a restaurant to have a snack & drink but boy are the prices reflective of the amount of attention & money that the council have paid out.

Amazing Public Place Please Visit
Great place to visit and just along from the beach. A real education for the younger ones and adults too. It's an inspiration whether you're into art or not, so make the effort to visit.

There is no entrance fee. The coffee shop does great food. Just outside, near the beach and often in the sea is an Anthony Gormley 'man' The exhibits are interesting and often thought provoking. Gift shop is a bit on the expensive side. It's nice for a bit of wander, as some of the exhibits change from time to time.
