It's awful.. No exibitions on, apart from a few pics from some schools.. Architecture is awful like a concrete shack.. The main hall has been in transition with nothing of any talent even before.. There is more decent artwork in tkmax or the local Indian takeaway.. It would be a disgrace to the art world, if they had any art

Relatively small compact gallery which has some excellent exhibitions both modern and classic with an eclectic of artists and style. Right by the beach it is easy to visit during a day at the seaside. Nice cafe serves food and drinks at a reasonable price.

If you are arty then place to go. Free entry so go look. Most not obvious to normal people. It is what it is. Mostly large empty warehouse space. Another award winning building that is nothing special.

Turner Contemporary is one of my favourite attractions on the Kent coast. Not only do the large scale windows of the gallery give a fantastic panoramic view of the Margate coastline but there is so much to see of Turner's work and the gallery also has a very varied set of exhibitions on throughout the year. Staff are always friendly and on hand should you need any assistance too. The gallery shop has a good range of souvenirs and art pieces to suit all budgets too. Overall I would highly recommend paying Turner Contemporary a visit.

I enjoyed my visit here, but I was expecting the gallery to be very much larger than it is. Not a bit larger, a lot: it's just so small. A well chosen range of exhibits, nonetheless. Cafe food is nice, but very expensive. Gift shop is good.

Boring and not very good. The current exhibition was the 2019 competition. It was small and not very exciting. There were 4 or 5 ish big rooms to walk into and most of them contained long videos to watch. It s free but also not the best, I wouldn t return

A too quality gallery in a lovely setting with everything from wonder views and a cafe bar to beautiful modern art and interactive exhibitions. With free exhibitions its an ideal destination or somewhere to pop into before shopping. There's a good amount of space for groups and lots of space outside to enjoy a packed lunch on a sunny day. Make sure to leave a donation to assist them in continuing the good work.

Went to see the 2019 Turner Prize nominees work. So good we went back the next day. Some excellent and inspiring work. Really helpful staff too. There was a real buzz about the place as there was a book festival at the same time. Great views of the harbour and out to sea.
Slightly disappointed in the cafe which had run out of sandwiches at lunch time on Friday. The food we chose was overpriced considering the small portions that arrived at the table and it lacked flavour. Great art but not a great cafe. Lots of good cafes by the harbour though!

It feels as if Turner's name has merely been used to attract attention. I suspect Turner would be laughing if he could see this place. Sure some people like "contemporary art" but at least make some decent tribute to the legendary artist who spent so much time living and painting in this location!
The building looks large from the outside but there is really not much inside. Also as we entered the upstairs exhibition area we were greeted by noisy children's activities. I honestly thought we had gone to the wrong place. We saw others looking confused too. Sure provide entertainment for children but perhaps not make it the first thing that greets you when you believe you are walking into an exhibition.
As for the paintings and installations I certainly was not impressed although a couple made me laugh at least! We were just glad Margate has a nice beach, some interesting little shops/arcades and other small art studios to keep us entertained.

We liked the thematic exhibition dedicated to the famous poem. But in general, the museum is a bit small and the staff is not very friendly. The place can be visited, but rather between times, and not as a special point of the cultural program.

The light airiness of the foyer, with its huge windows overlooking the sea and the Gormley statue provides an uplifting welcome. There's nearly always a dramatic and thought provoking artwork here.
The galleries upstairs are completely unadorned drawing all your attention to the art, the lighting is perfect to the point where you don't even think about it.
But the most enjoyable part is the gentle, happy, informative staff.

Interesting new architecture on Margate front.
Sadly when a new exhibition is being installed, which takes several weeks. There is almost nothing to see for those unfortunate enough to turn up on spec. So always plan your visit to make sure it is fully open.
The coffee was good.
