Beautifully imagined space with really cool things to see. Well worth the trip to see it.
Excellent place to see local artists and their work.
It is incredible to watch the artists work, and inspiring to be able to talk to them too
Went in with just about an hour remaining before closing time, but tons of tremendous pieces. Chris had a great vibe and my friend and I really admire his metal art constructions. Need to come back with lots more time!
Overall ok .many artists have set up shop .many expensive. Didn't really see the artists at work
Be sure not to miss the torpedo factory if you're spending the day sightseeing in old town. There are so many great local artists hidden away in this building to explore. There's everything from tapestries to painting to Pottery to jewelry and everything in between. It's fun to meander around the building and get lost exploring all of the different vendors. Some of the vendors are more expensive than others, but I have always found something at my price point to buy. You can buy a $10 or $20 piece of jewelry or a $5000 piece of artwork for your home. I would guess that this is also a great place to have custom work done as the artists are sitting nearby when you are viewing their work. If you had an idea for a custom piece of jewelry or artwork to hang on your wall, I bet you could ask one of these artist to commission a piece for you.
Great place to visit in Alexandria. Also great place to have lunch or dinner on the Potomac.
Huge place with art galleries where artists are working on their art.
This is the coolest place, some of the most unique artistry I've seen in one complex. What a great use of real estate that needs repurposed! I bought several gifts for Christmas and they're one of a kind, no worries about duplicates this year. Art, jewelry, decor, step up and look for it here. Great sensory experience basking in all that creativity.
The view of the water is beautiful, Alot of resturants and stores in the vicinity.
Love this place. Get lost in local artists' beautiful displays. Museum and store in one. Visit Allison Sigethy on the 3rd floor...
Was a good exhibition day when i visited. Didnt buy as it was way expensive but good walk around with amazing paintings
We had a great time here. Got to be a model for an art class. There were so many talented artists there.
One of my favorite spots to enjoy art in Northern Virginia. The building houses the studios of close to 100 painters, sculptors, photographers, and other types of artists. Visitors can browse through and purchase the art and can even talk to the artists and watch them work. I"m inspired to be more creative every time I visit. The building itself is also interesting given its World War II history. Great place to spend an afternoon but be sure to check the closing hours for that day on the website as the art center sometimes closes early for special events.
This place is very interesting for kids and family to have a good evening.
What a wonderful place to visit. Plus, we walked away with a great purchase for our house!
It was very unique and just an over all fun experience! I would definitely do it again!
What a wonderful place. So good to see that art is still alive and ever changing in our society. Parking across the street in the garage is a bit pricey though.
Three floors consisting of mini art galleries: Sculptures, paintings, jewelry, fabric, tapestry, ceramics, and other mediums. Oodles of fun from beginning to end! #free fun
So much to see and enjoy here at the torpedo factory of art! We also enjoyed a drinking glass performer right outside.
Great art center, open decent hours, and fantastic exhibit setup and purchase/shipping options.
The Torpedo factory houses arts and crafts by many different artists. The photos are the art work of Christopher Erney who does metal sculpture. There are jewelery, soft goods and art at the factory. There is something for everyone's taste.
Pretty neat space, but the prices for the art pieces are too steep for my budget
You can watch and speak with local artists and enjoy trendy little art shops
A really cool place to view the art of Alexandria and the people who create it. Definitely adds a bit of culture to this already beautiful city.
What a unique space and fantastic repurposing of a building that used to create death! We were fortunate it was opened during our visit (double check hours if you're in town over a holiday weekend). I really enjoyed seeing the wide range of styles of the artists. I especially enjoyed watching live glass etching!
If you are thinking of buying a non-fabric textile piece, make sure to bring lots of money. None of the art I saw was what I would consider affordable for 50k or less income earners. IMO, still worth admiring.
A fun place to wander, or bring your out-of-town visitors. There are always new things to see, but nothing really affordable to buy...
This art center is a regional treasure. It's a fun place but it's also a school and place of business.
There are many different types of artists in residence. You can chat with them, watch them create and hopefully purchase a few pieces.
Art in all styles and for all budgets.
Wonderful place to bring children and teens.
Highly recommend.
Nice walk along the Potomac River with landing in the old torpedo factory and then to Alexandria, a beautiful district of Washington.
Would have been ranked higher if they kept the bathrooms open at decent times. Not cool.
We had a lot of fun exploring all of the art work here. We actually made a couple of purchases to take home with us as well.
This place is amazing. I enjoy looking at everyone's works. I went through every single studio and I enjoyed looking at every single work from all the talented artists. There is so much culture there.
The arts and crafts displays showed the unique talented people of Alexandra. We purchased many souvenirs
Nice little local artist gallery to visit if you're walking down to the water in Alexandria. Lots of people watching and a good place that cuts thru to the boardwalk. Really popular during the summer.
Spent a few hours looking at the talented people that are true artists.
Wonderful place to experience the unique ceramics, fabrics and paintings by local artists.
Dejan Studio Jewelry created this beautiful pendant for me using my grandfather's EGA from World War II. He did an absolutely stunning job! I highly recommend dropping in and checking out his collection!!!
Terrific place for art. I've been many times over the years and always enjoyed perusing the different art studios. I've even bought a few pieces from the artist.
I find it hard to believe Torpedo Factory could sustain itself without heavy government subsidies. However, I also believe that this is one of the very few areas wherein the government is putting tax dollars into good use.
Love the art, atmosphere. The water n the restaurants
High quality art in a perfect location.Great light from the river.
This is a wonderful place to visit and learn about the history of torpedoes, especially what role Alexandria played. Plus, there are numerous art shops inside the building.
Yes! Yes! Yes! A must see. Amazing art space. We were able to speak to several working artist too.
I love walking through all galleries and getting a little bit of a history lesson about the Navy at the same time
A former factory, now turned into an artist colony.. It is a great way to spend an afternoon. The art is displayed in front of each office and there is working space in the back. You can browse the work and ask questions to the artists...
So many artists here! If you like art even a bit, give yourself at least a couple hours to check this place out.
Fun place
Great orininal work art at reasonable prices.
The monthly exhibitions are great. I have taken two classes there and Intermediate Painting with Mike Francis was great. There is lots of independence in that class and you may work on your own pieces.
A unique place to visit when in town! So many different art mediums, and seeing the artists in action is awesome!
Great place, broke so can't buy anything but saw some really cool places. Make sure to check out the station with the encased "aquarium" displays
Beautiful artwork and Independent artists. You can reserve a location and sell your artwork here. They have a very decent crowd that comes around and the artist rotate every couple of months so there's always something to see
It was so awesome to see the art studios and see some artists working right in front of you. Lots to see as well as it being right on the water. Nice views.
Interesting, but there are more exciting places to check out while in the area.
This restaurant torpedod my appetite for a week!!!!
Love this place! Historic torpedo factory-turned art studios. There is a cafe and three floors of studios to visit, plus an art school that offers a variety of classes. Check out the Second Thursday open studio event they do monthly!
