Great place to see animals. Go early usually the animals are awake and about. Lots of walking to bur off energy.
Great place to see animals. Go early usually the animals are awake and about. Lots of walking to bur off energy.
I absolutely loved the zoo! There were a ton of animals and stuff to look at. The Tundra air ride was super fun, and we had an amazing day!
Scenic safari is non sense. We looked barely any animals. Spent 1 hour mostly just looked bush and no animals. Just waste money and gas.
Some construction happening but still a great day. The walkways were cleared completely and easy to walk between buildings. We were there for the polar bear 5k fund raising run. Well organized run. We stayed to walk the grounds because we love the zoo.
The animals we saw were great. Many were sleeping or hiding. Not enough water fountains or bathrooms for such a hot day. Food overall was not great and very overpriced. Three 500ml bottles of water cost me $11.30
Did the zoo run here. Highly recommended. Only 4 stars though cuz the pandas are gone
I love the Toronto Zoo. It is living up to my expectations of how modern zoos should be. Their focus on conservation and education is admirable and the zoo staff are more than happy to provide further details. I also love the volunteers, they are especially chatty and are more than happy to share their knowledge.
You will love this zoo. The exhibits and natural habitats are exceptional.
Too expensive for general public... a family of 2 adults n infant cost us 70 dollars including parking which you have to pay while buying the ticket...its a public place should b affordable for general public
Really a great place to spend a day at any time of year.
If you have a tour guide you are set. You can get up close to the animals. You need a mobile cart to get around. Pretty good experience if it is your first time going. Then what???
We didn't get to see the pandas or sloths, I found that having the one way lanes make it easy to see all the animals without getting lost.
I recently visited the terra lumina! Such a wonderful date . I also think the staff is wonderful as they made sure to hold staggered entries and frequently sanitized high touch areas to ensure health safety.
We love the zoo! We try to visit annually if not more often. They have excellent conservation programs.
It's an amazing place, even in winter. There are a lot of pavilions with tropical plants and different animals
A world class facility that genuinely cares for its animals and makes an impact on conservation. Every visit is a new experience, with lots of animals to see, grouped by geographic regions. There is often a baby on display, thanks to their tremendous conservation efforts and expert staff. Great place to just go for a walk and enjoy the Rouge Valley.
I love the Zoo Run and i am grateful that soany people come out to support the event. There is a lot to see here.
Huge place, large variety of animals. the food is basic ( hot dog, pizza, chicken nuggets) , is better bring with you snacks and make a picnic. Parking is 12$, 30$ ticket , the train costs 9$ .
There are limited number of animals. I saw better zoos. Enviroment and nature is amazing. A few zones were closed due to some events.
Loved it. It is the perfect place for the whole family. It is spacious and clean and you get to do lots of fun activities for kids of all ages. You can't do the whole zoo visit in one day. So i recommend the membership it is all year access and it will definitely pay it off.
Great place to take the kids. Slightly overpriced. We took advantage of the 45th Anniversary 45% off this year. Try to find good deals. It's lots of fun for everyone once inside.
Toronto Zoo is now reopened. Great place to get fresh air and spend time with my family for a day. Must prebook ticket for an entrance time. All indoor areas require masks. They have mask available for sale if you don't have any.
Good place to plan your whole day with the family, kids. Bring your own lunch and have a great picnic time while watching the animals
Perfect place to spend the day with your friends and family. Very clean zoo. All the Animals looked well cared for. The grounds were very cleaned. No litter anywhere. We went on the Zoomobile. It's a train that takes you around the zoo. It was fun and a great experience if you dont want to walk or cant get around that far. Its $10 per person for the zoo mobile or free if you are a member. Bring lots of snacks, water and a lunch. Food was definitely over priced and expensive. $20 per person we paid. Over all I would go back to the Toronto zoo. Next time I want to bring my son to the splash pad at the zoo.
A great time. Reminds me how much I'd rather not be human.
Had a blast with my family, everything was reasonably priced and they had a splash pad which my daughter really enjoyed
Was a great time seeing the animals but If you want to eat at dinner time bring youre own food because the restaurants close at dinner time. If the zoo is open then food should be open. Even a vending machine with chips would have been nice then I could have finished every section. Missed a bunch
Had a great time at the zoo, a few pavilions where closed and some outdoor exhibits roped off to prevent getting a closer look at some animals, but the animals have to be safe too. Looking forward to going again soon. Wonderful job done by all the staff and volunteers at the zoo.
Always a favourite place to visit. The zookeepers create such a comfortable environment for people to learn more and the volunteers throughout the zoo are amazing with interactive stations. Great food at the park and they sell BEAVERTAILS!!!
It's okay but I won't go back ... too expensive and not all animals were in exhibition
It was not fun going when there was not much to see. But I am definitely going back to see all the animals. It was expensive for the food, so I recommend that you bring your own food. I wish that they had horses.
Terra Lumina was an amazing experience and I can't wait to go again.
The Toronto Zoo is a surprisingly quick drive from Oshawa and the Durham Region, taking approximately 20 minutes or less on the 401. The zoo is open year round and is much more fun in the winter than you would think. With a Tim Hortons serving warm beverages at the main entrance and heated indoor attractions throughout, it makes a perfect place to take little ones on a winter's day. During the summer it is much more busy, but the splash pad is a great way to keep cool. The Toronto Zoo is a must visit for all animal lovers and parents looking to have a fun and affordable day with their children.
Never been in any zoo before until now. I had to go here to support our Toronto zoo and it was a fun experience. the price was fare, thankfully the weather was also good. Will recommend.
I'm always torn viewing animals in captivity, however, the awareness it creates helps aid those in the wild. The Toronto Zoo does this with class and respect. You can tell the animals are well looked after and genuinely cared for by good people. Be prepared to WALK! It's a great way to spend an entire day. Recommended: pack well! Snacks, drinks and anticipation of weather change is a good idea.
Not one star because you can appreciate the intention and effort but this is not enough.
Animals, most of them at least, are in places too small and too different than their climate. A polar bear in the sun on august? A snow leopard lying against the glass heavy breathing because of the hot temperature?
Some animals are in good places and it's nice to know all of them are taken care by vets and experts but this is the minimum.
Also very crowded and full of rude people, especially children. You can't just expect people not to tap on glass because you put a sign, you need someone to control and fines for bad visitors.
Still a long way to go. For now i wouldn't recommend a visit here if you really like animals, you will only feel sad for them
This was an amazing place to spend the whole day. The pandas were amazing to watch.
A lot of walking, wide variety of animals to see. I can see a lot of families visiting, kids love it here!
I loved this zoo. We spent 3 hours going to each section and looking at every single animal except the Canadian section. Being from Saskatchewan, I didn't feel the need to review that section.
They are doing a great job at keeping the guests safe during the pandemic. The bathrooms are cleaned inbetween each group. Probably the safest I've felt at a public bathroom during the pandemic. Lots of signs posted to remind people to distance and which way to walk. They also have employees opening doors so you don't have to touch the doors yourself. Highly recommend the zoo as a safe trip for the whole family.
My son and I loved coming to the zoo during the summer.
Had a really nice time. Although it was hot out so the animals were hiding, and its lots of walking around so it took us all day and we still didnt see everything
It's great place to see a wide array of animals. Much of the zoo is outdoors, but there are also animals which are kept indoors, so rain or shine, there's lots to see here.
They could use a little more organization. It's easy to get lost despite having a map.
I didn't feel it's that great. You will get tired so fast, because there is a lot of area to cover and there isn't much shade. There is a vehicle called zoomobile which you can take for $9 per person. If felt this is more convenient to move around in the zoo.
Animals and Information was great. Minor complaint of slowish food services.
The zoo is usually a good experience for the family but I'm concerned about the increasing costs of going there. I feel that the ridiculous prices for food and drinks are taking away from the experience. They are getting this rating because of the price gouging for everything beyond the admission price including paid parking.
Great place as always. Friendly staff. Wide variety of animals. Decent covid precautions in place, when followed. Wheelchair accessible, but not friendly.
This place is brilliant. Plenty of room for social distance. So much fun for our family!
I was really excited to visit the Toronto Zoo, but left disappointed. A lot of the animals I was looking forward to showing my daughter were unavailable. I can't say that would return.
I like to go see animals. They are beautiful. They seem very well taken care of but I can't help but to feel sad that they are like prisoners in cages or in small enclosed compartments :(
Worth to go on weekdays n daytime...
Amy is great to show kids about polar bears... It was awesome.
Have been a member for years however we went yesterday to find out that most of the animals are for the drive through. Obviously they are making a killing on the 15 minute car ride and shunning long time members. Was not a great experience. I think they have made lost revenue 100x with the car line ups we saw.
Terra Lumina was a pure waste of money. The standard zoo is great. Terra Lumina was HORRIBLE.
An absolutely amazing day for a family. Great value for the price of admission. The enclosures are very impressive and the level of care that the animals are receiving is equally impressive. I would have given the zoo five stars if the bathrooms had been clean, they were kind of gross. Also an upgrade of their water fountains to include a refillable water bottle system would be nice and seemingly in line with the values of the zoo. It was nice to see that they use cardboard straws, more businesses should follow that example!!!
Great experience during covid! We went early and it wasn't busy, and enjoyed a nice time seeing the animals. Around noon it did start getting busier and despite signs regarding social distancing, staff trying to tell people to stay 6 ft apart and clearly marked arrows on pathways people did not follow these guidelines... So other than ignorant people it was a great experience.
Got the season pass for our family and the kids always enjoy visiting. The Zoo mobile was really helpful for moving around. Looking forward to Fall Events
Amazing. So amazing! The staff and volunteers are so friendly and welcoming. We keep getting a membership year after year!
Ain't gonna lie, it can be pricey: admission, food, and parking. But there are lots of spots for picnics! So if you're buying just for a one time visit, here is what you should know: the place is HUGE! You will be hard pressed to see all the animals and pavilions and animal shows and keeper talks (hence the membership).
Zoomobile and animal hospital are great places to relax! And the kid water park and kid zone are awesome for the little ones.
We will keep coming back over and over again!
Really enjoyed our visit there. Be prepared for lots of walking. The docents we interacted with we're very friendly and knowledgeable.
We went to the lumina lights at the zoo and it was kind of underwhelming. Tickets were 30$ each i personally didnt feel it was worth that money. If you plan to go definitely bundle up it was freezing. No food available but bathrooms were accessible.
The Zoo never disappoints and today was no exception. Only reason for the 4 star rating is due to many of the attractions not being open due to Covid. So more of a warning to goers to check what's open and what's not to make sure you bring what you need for the day i.e. strollers if you don't want to rent one as the zoomobile train thingy is closed. We got extremely lucky with the weather and very small crowds. The timed entry is working out so well and should continue to be used in the future regardless of Covid as it makes for such a much better experience! Five of us ranging in ages from 50 to 7 each found something to love.
Terra lumina was such a special experience! A lovely comment on earth and humans relationship with it and such beautiful light installations. So creative! It feels like you are transported to another world.
My favourite part though has to be the music. I wish you could buy it at the end for mediation or yoga or something. So beautiful!!
It can be quite hit and miss as to whether you see as many animals as you'd like to see. People complaining about not being able to see animals because they're on the other side of the enclosure...you do realize that they're wild animals, right? The keepers have no control over whether the animals are near the guests or not, and given the way I've seen some guests behave near the glass I can't say I blame the animals for being on the farther side of their enclosures.
A winter visit is very different from a summer visit. I found the animals to be quite active, especially the Amir Tigers which were calling out to each other and playing with their Christmas trees that the staff provided. The wolves were walking around, quite the contrast to them sleeping in the summer! Some of the animal exhibits were closed for renovations, but there was still plenty to see. A number of the keepers were also around and more than happy to talk about the animals in their care.
Food stops were closed, but that's nothing new. Be prepared for a long walk!
I hope the Zoo is better in the spring and summer, as we barely saw any animals whatsoever? For 2 of us and parking, cost almost $70.00 what a waste of money, should be half price this time of year. I've learned my lesson.
Busy place this past Saturday but a very enjoyable day celebrating my granddaughters 8th birthday at the zoo.
The animals are spectacular. What a gorgeous way to spend the day with your family!
Did the drive thru safari. Very lame would not recommend. Waste of time and money
Nice spot to take kids once in a while as long as you go early in the day as it gets hot there. Not too far from Lamana Bakery (when it is open) to get a meal after.
The Toronto Zoo is easily one of the best compared to many around various countries I have visited. The organization by the various regions (African Savanna, Tundra, Eurasia, Americas, etc) is excellent and provides visitors with a lot of background information and in-depth details.
Scenic safari is absolutely not worth. Hardly any animals to be seen and you just in and drive out.
I try to come at least once a year because it is a great way to spend the entire day. Weather was perfect and it was busy but people were I great moods. We had a family group with 2 strollers and everything was accessible. Indoor pavilions are sometimes tricky with the stroller and got to busy but again a great day so everyone wanted to go. We had alot of animal put on a show for us and it was very clean for a big place with so much traffic. You will certainly see us again!
This is a great zoo, but huge...get ready to walk. The way the zoo is broken up, into geographicxal areas, each anchored by a building, allows for routine escape from the elements, but there will be long walks. Good food choices throughout the park. The train is a way to get around to the different areas quickly. The only issue was at entry....there were long lines, and even after waiting for 20 minutes, people would still have to to look back and count their party size. It should have been easy, but every person reaching the front looked like they were buying a dozen donuts and having issue of which to select. Nice day in Toronto.
Its a great place to spend a day with family or friends. The zoo has special rides that are seasonal, so check their website before u go. The zoo also offers baby strollers for rent, so thats a great help. The animals are well taken care off and you are able to see most of them. Its absolute value for money. I would recommend to visit during summer. Overall its a great place to spend a day.
My daughter loves zoos so we go to a lot of them. This zoo looks like the take great care of the animals, and overall the buildings and grounds are well kept. My biggest gripe is with the signage, layout, and maps. It was very hard to navigate. I even overheard someone getting directions from an employee because they were lost. We walked a great distance to the Canadian area, only to be disappointed because we couldn't see the animals. The tram track that serviced that area was shut down and overgrown, so the walk back up the hill and further to get back to the zoo proper.
Zoo was great. Lots to see and do and super clean.
Lots of walking so I think the zoo mobile or trolley or whatever they call it is worth it if it's super hot and if you have small children.
Also not all resturants are open, different ones open on different days so if you don't bring food plan accordingly. Food choices are limited but was very tasty.
Kids really enjoyed the gorilla climb apparatus. The price was good!
Canadian pavilion is far and up a steep hill so be prepared if you plan to visit it.
It s a good zoo. Very big. I don t like the indoor parts as much but for a zoo that s open all year round, it s great to have the indoor areas.
One day is not enough.
The stroller provided by zoo cannot loaded on the zoo train. So make sure you have foldable stroller.
Even with Covid-19, Zoo is still a good experience for young kids... Entire zoo was not open but you can still see a lot of animals...and you have to wear masks for indoor parts of the zoo
One of the best zoos in the world -- the Toronto Zoo works to save endangered species while educating visitors to the beauty of our world. They are accredited by the AZA, ensuring that animals are cared for and provided the best possible lives.
Great place to visit with kids. Lots to see. Very well run. Be prepared to pay 3 x the usual price for on-site food. If you want to save money, bing your own food and fill up a water bottle at the water fountains. All kinds of people visit here ... mentally prepare yourself for the occasional pushy idiot. Worth the price of admission for the hours of adventure. Bring comfortable walking shoes.
A little disappointed as the exhibits were not all open but still got to see quite a bit.
Full fun good place the zoo preserve various species of birds animals. The infrastructure is great must go palace but parking is costly. They also provide membership for unlimited visits thats good. The staff feeding animals is great i really appreciate them.
